[FfH II Art Team Blog]

Yeah, there is nothing Druid-like about that pic, but it would be a fine basis for a beastmaster.

Edit: that was to WarKirby's post

Personally I think that Satyrs should be able to upgrade to Beastmasters and Druids, and would really like it if someone would make the graphics for these units of that race. (Satyr should also become a racial promotion, with Mesmerize Animal dependent on the racial promotion and Subdue Animal rather than the Satyr unit. Perhaps a similar Mesmerize Beast spell should be added. I really think that making Yvain a Treant was a bad idea, especially since the Bestiary claims treants can be any plants temporarily animated by the forest spirit and not discrete persons of the tree. I'd rather make the descriptor "favorite son of Cernunnos" literal, and make him the last of the first generation Satyrs, perhaps the only son born to Cernunnos after the death of his beloved Gower died. I like to think that Gower and Yvain shared a mother, who may have died giving birth to Yvain. I also like to think that Cernunnos's two surviving elven wives are Arendel Phaedra and Faeryl Viconia and that the conflict between the courts dated back to .)

The initial thought for Druid is greens and browns....but just wondering if it'd be possible to experiment with an autumnal look?

I kind of like the colours in this example (...but the eyes are just silly)

...perhaps exposed arms/hands could have something akin to henna/ochre tattoos daubed on them

...and to really make him stand out, perhaps if the cloak was fashioned from red/gold/yellow/brown leaves.....and perhaps have occassional ones fluttering off as the Druid moves around? [not asking for much am I?!]

Also in that pic, there are a couple of metallic clasps....perhaps such things should be fashioned from thorns instead?

As Sucellus is now god of life and the life sphere is associated with a warm pure white light I think Druids wearing wreaths of white flowers would be good.

...

At that Arawn stepped forward. His right hand shone with the pure white light of birth, his left with the gray power of ending. He raised his left hand over Gabella but before he lowered it Ceridwen appeared behind the trapped Gabella.

...

As Sucellus's old physical form was half deer, a headdress with antlers could be good. It should perhaps be noted that no deer were killed for their antlers, but they were taken once naturally shed. The Fyrddwell show that the elves under the teaching of Sucellus were vegetarians, although when Cernunnos became the new God of Nature he had no problem with hunting and meat eating. Satyr Druids would instead just show off their own horns, perhaps adorned with flowers. As Sucellus probably now looks part Phoenix and those loyal to him carefully guard the seven Phoenices that sprang from the fragments of his body, it could be good for Druids to be adorned with feathers as well.

Druids are one with nature. Why wear clothes at all!

Great idea make sure he has a pot belly, fuzzy back, balding, bucked tooth, pigeon toes and a really big weapon. :mischief::p:D

^ this works

Skitters' idea seems quite interesting. Could work

A few more pics I found. One gives an idea of what an antler-horned druid may look. However, as I recall, the Ljosalfar druid already has a look like that, so it might look samey to do it again

One thing I think may be worth considering. Druids have 8 combat strength, before affinity. I'm thinking it might be nice for that to be meaningful in terms of the art, ie, have the druid look a fairly capable warrior.

A: A typical gaulish druid. White bearded old man in white/grey/brown robes, possibly with a hood. carrying a sickle, a bag of alchemy supplies, etc.

If you're going to go with this idea, this needs to be his face:

I like a combination of the WarKirby's most recent two ideas. IMHO, you've got to have the beast-companion for a druid (raven/hawk would be awesome), and he/she has to have a staff. Robe-ish things are a plus.

Monkeyfinger...wow. Where *did* you find that picture?

If you spent the right feat on them yeah. They start able to wear medium armor IIRC.

feats? pah.

Just take one level of fighter. Martial weapon and heavy armour/shield proficiency for free.
Platemail, a massive shield, barkskin, and every other protective spell you can muster up. druid makes a good tank.

Actually, I tended to take 1-2 levels of fighter regardless of what was the main class. it gives such nice stuff.

I think the Heroes V Elder Druid looks particularly badass and would make a great image to base a druid from. Though in that game they tended to get picked off pretty quickly.

quick suggestion:

Currently the Doviello, Lanun, Balseraph and Sidar have one thing in common:

They have unique art* for their adepts, each of them fitting and more or less good looking for their civilization, certainly better than placeholder art though.

(*actually havent played base FFH in a long time, but they definitly do in orbis/FF+ and i m guessing in that regard there s no difference from vanilla )

However as soon as you upgrade to (arch)mages they use placeholder models.

Now this isnt a request for the art team to make all new and unique models for each civ (unless you really want to, i dont want to stop you if so :p) but wouldnt make it alot more sense if the unique art was used for (arch)mages and the adepts instead would use adept placeholder graphics ?

If you go for a magic heavy game you re soon at the point where you likely only have adepts for a couple of turns until you upgrade them to mages, so doesnt it make it alot more sense if the good and flavourfull art isnt used on starter units that are outdated pretty fast ... but on those units you ll actually see for the rest of the game instead ?

EDIT: Nevermind, thanks to valk i know how to change this myself, leaving it here as a suggestion though just in case someone shares that opinion.

I'd disagree here. art should be used where it's appropriate, not stuck on the best units simply because it's there.

If I recall, the lanun adept is just a common sailor holding a book. he's certainly not archmage material, and would be pretty silly to use him as the archmage art.

RE: Druid
Finishing up some stuff for planetfall, then I'm going to do it. if there are any more ideas please feel free to post .I haven't quite decided on what combination of them to use.

Also, would teamcoloring be good ? or not. I'm pretty good at doing it tastefully, see my most recent work

I agree with WarKirby. For most, if not all (haven't played all, so can't say for certain), that wouldn't make much sense. Recently playing the Sidar, I can really say that their adepts do not look like archmage material.

The Sidar is a bit sad, though. All their Mage/Archmage units really need is a quick reskin to look pale and dressed in black.

I'd also like to request a unique skin for the Sidar Shadow (Esus unit). The current Shadow model is dressed in all gray, but it's still a sharp contrast to that of the regular Sidar all-black, such as the Sidar Ghost. I really think that the Sidar should even have a Shadow UU, but I can't have everything, now can I? ;)
