Hmm, is it possible and/or legal to grab models or textures out of other games? Specifically, I was thinking some of Heroes of Might and Magic V's models would work fairly well, like the Sylvan Druid.

Its not really possible unless the game uses the nif format to save its models, which HOMM doesn't.

I've been afraid to ask, because someone might do it, but:
Does anyone know if models from "Freedom Force" would work? It uses nifs, and the same software I used to fiddle with FF models works with Civ4 nifs.

Err... I have to admit that I think "Nuclear Winter" - iceman with Russian greatcoat and tall furry hat - would be funny as an Illian hero. And the Illians could use a dose of humor, too. Am I right or am I right?

"Liberty Lad" could make a could Bals. hero.

And everyone knows that what the mod really needs are DC and Marvel civs.

uh, this is a fantasty mod loosely based on D&D, I don't see how comic book heroes would fit in.

I think Tarquelne was joking ;)

FF uses nifs, but you might have to make sure they work with the animations and so on.
but.. in principle, every model in a format you can import into blender or max,... can be used for CIV units, if you are willing to rig it to an exisiting rig or create custom animations.
Furthermore... FF and HOMM models do have a lot more polygons and bigger textures, so performance wise... not a good idea to use them.

On the other hand, i prefer doing original stuff, so dont ask me to do that.

Put me down as another one curious about the status of the lamias.

/If no new info, then no biggie, just curious.

Actually as far as I know HOMM units don't have a format you can import, sadly. Or did some genius come up with a tool or script?

I'm not really into blondes. Actually, I think that the arcane line might be better looking more like their cousins the Svartalfar, since they are the more arcane sect. I guess this is fine for the mages, but I think that elven Archmages need to look like Thessa.
NAnyways, as far as that unit bieng blonde, aren't light elves supposed to have light colored hair anyways? I suppose the darkest they could have is a light brown, but even if it were blonde, elves debunk the 'stupid blonde' stereotype anyways.
Thessa is a Ljosalfar Archmage, and her hair (at least based on the leader pic) is jet black. So, no, they aren't all blond. You can't actually see his hair, but Amelanchier doesn't look like he would be blond either. Based on the fact that the Dark Elves are the more arcane elves, I was thinking that the Ljsalfar mage class would likely have closer blood ties to their Svartalfar cousins.
What do you have against blondes? There's one whom I know, who looks exactly like Faeryl Viconia but with golden hair and the intelligence of a mage -no reason to discriminate because of her hair colour at all... perfectly suitable for a Ljosalf mage.

I don't have anything against blondes, I guess it's just a stereotype of what we expect from light elves vs dark elves. I did say that elves debunk the 'stupid blonde' stereotype.

It's the ''dumb blonde'' stereotype and I find it *incredibly* insulting. Why, exactly, shouldn't the elf be blonde?

To stop discussions, I think that seZ will just have to post a new unit. Then we will all go back to the threads original purpose ;). (Insert random lengthy praise for seZ here).

So how many heads are you thinking of doing? There should be an upper limit, or else you'll wind up with the situation here where they had the hydra with infinite heads that promptly passed out from lack of blood to its brains ;)

i think if it started out with one head and then split at every time it gained a level that would awesome. gaining heads after every combat would be way too often. great job!

well i was thinking of doing 5 versions, 1 head, 2 heads .... 5 heads etc. and then it would be best to link each modle to the combat promotion (like jimi says) but first i need to finish attatching his legs...

There might be a problem in attaching heads only if the hydra does have a combat promotion: What if it doesn't have a combat promotion? No Head? Would be funny, though. :D
