FfH2 Bug Thread

My Steam version did not have the '3.17' key in the registry, I added it manually and it's installing now. No clue how you'd test the actual version number without that key...

You could perhaps assume that, since Steam has an automated updater built-in, everyone with a Steam version will be up-to-date? While it's not guaranteed, I think you'll get less trouble this way than by asking all Steam users to edit their registry manually...

Are you sure it isnt in HKEY Current User?

I did a install of the new version along with the media files. The game seems to work fine but all the leader pics are all messed up. The top 10% is okay but then you get corruption and finally toward the bottom looks like your TV after 3am back in the day.

I tried to do the "Play Now!" and clear everything out, but still all messed up.

Can you attach a screenshot?

My (retail) version is registered under current_user, and the new installer all the same gives me a "BTS version 3.17 is required..." message :(

I'm also seeing the art corrupted for Leader Heads.

I find that my units cannot explore lairs. Right at the start of the game I had a warrior and my Donvello hero Lucian rush for lairs, but the Explore Lair button was disabled, turn after turn.

The corruption pattern looks the same for every leader. Easiest was to see this is to choose "Play Game", select your world and then scroll through the different civs when selecting who you are going to play as.

I copied the mod and then unpacked the art, still having a problem.

Gee, maybe I should have trimmed the right-side monitor... ;)
Sorry about that.

I had no problem installing or seeing the leaderheads, but I just got a seemingly random CtD. I forgot to turn on python exceptions first, and don't have any idea what caused the crash.

K, im posting a new version of 0.41 (I have to update the full mod to change the installer) that won't keep the mod from being installed if it doesnt detect 3.17, that fixes the issue with the missing cottages and what I suspect will fix the leaderheads (though thats a weird one).

Its going to be a full download to get it so if you haven't downloaded yet I would wait until I get the new version up (its uploading right now).

I posted about this issue before, but it's a couple pages back...

Using a Harlequin to convince enemies to throw themselves onto Brigits sword occasionally causes the game to freeze up. I didn't notice any dead units not being removed. What seems to happen (from the on-screen messages) is Brigit gets caught in a defensive strike infinite loop- hitting many more defensive strikes than enemies in the stack- and rotating through the stack continually. My guess is once an enemy dies from the multiple defensive strikes the game partially freezes. You can continue the turn by clicking on the mini-map then selecting another unit and finish all of your unit's actions but you can't end the turn.

Also- something happened to the giants from PoN, for some reason they aren't able to learn guardsman anymore. That might be a design change and not a bug, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Ok, downloaded 0.41, no problems with leaderheads or any cosmetic problems.

However, I've noticed the barbarians seem to be way more powerful than they were. A few civs were beaten early on, and they really delayed my own expansion. At least more than they ever did in 0.40. I'm still in my first 0.41 game so I don't have a lot of experience to back it, but has anyone else noticed stronger barbarians?

just to chime in about the registry check:
I just got the Civilization IV complete edition :woohoo: no more disk checks :woohoo: - anyway its registry entry does not stipulate any patch version for Warlords and BtS (even though they are patched to 2.13 and 3.17) - and while I simply added that in the registry and was able to install I am sure not everyone is comfortable with regedit ;)

How do we know when it is done uploading? Will you post here when the new version is available?

Are you using the leader Charadon by any chance? He has the Barbarian trait, which makes him at peace with the barbarians at the start of the game. This also prevents his units from exploring lairs, so what you are experiencing would be normal.

Okay version 0.41 has been blind revved and includes the following 3 changes:

1. The installer will no longer stop if it doesnt detect 3.17.
2. Fixed an issue that could cause cottages to disappear under certain religions.
3. Changed the Leaderhead art a bit to try to address a problem some have reported with their art.
