FfH2 Bug Thread

I'm around turn 350, and the AI turns have generally been taking 10-15 seconds. Suddenly, one of the turns just doesn't end. It says "Waiting for Other Civilization" or whatever the message is, and it just stays there forever. I let it sit there for over 10 minutes, but the turn never ended. I reloaded the game to the same turn, and it happened again. I'm not sure if this would be a FFH or BtS problem, but I attached the save file anyway. So, this game is pretty much over for me unless there's a way to figure out what's going on.

Ever since updating to J the game stability is gone all to hell for me. My friends and I have not been able to play a single game past 200 without it going to frequent OOS' even with clearing caches. We even tried avoiding OOS causing scenarios. we don't use kuriotates, we do compact enforced / no hell terrain. Nothing helps. We just get tons of OOS'. J is basically unplayable for us except single player.

The last stable version we played was G and we barely had a single OOS. We tried Wild mana with G and we got OOS' up the wazoo and never touched it again. I understand that patch J contains wild mana routines... I love the new AI but not at the expense of ever playing a MP game again.

We are going to continue to try different ways around it . If anyone has any suggestions let me know. We are clearing cache and reloading saves.

Added a save.

We were playing noble (friend is new to game) Wildlands, Living World, Blessings, Raging, New Seed on reload, no brokering, whatever the other nasty one by raging barbs is (not barb world) all unique features, compact enforced no hell terrain (not tha tit mattered game oos' lon before basium or hyborem) no kuriotates.

I've played several multiplayer games today (4 player), and there were no OOS issues. It played perfectly fine ... there was no patch g OOS of when Hyborem takes a city either, which is a marked improvement.

Also, ive noticed that AI will only ask I join a war when I have a sizable army near said mutual enemy's borders.

How many turns? Speed? Map settings? Mapscript? Direct connect? Hamachi?

Normal speed, standard size map, multiplayer with every civ in. No problems until turn 250, then OOS every few turns. The only thing that I've noticed is that the OOS seem to happen on the same turns that the AI gets golden ages (Balsferas golden age appeared when first OOS happened, Barbarian a few turns later).

I'm about 75% sure that the error is not coming form a 'bug' per se but from the vast computer resources that it takes to continue a turn; indeed, some of my configurations may have proceeded, but I may have felt that there was a WOC when there wasn't. Specifically, it takes me about 5 minutes to get to the next turn when I do get a configuration that works.

Well thanks nevertheless. The turnovers take quite long at my machine as well. I guess it was just a bad idea to play the continents map unless you're either waging intercontinental wars early on or the AI has learned how to do proper naval warfare and troop transportation.

Ok, here is a fixed file. The problem was caused by (of all things) a barbarian hill giant that had a hidden promotion. I took off the hidden promotion and the game continues.

Play as Cassiel. Patch J. Game crashes after end turn.
I can't find any significant event happening the next turn.
Any ideas?

Here you go. The bug was caused by the Elohim city 'Glens of Killybags'. It had a Hill Giant and a bunch of summoned tigers. I first I thougth the Hill Giant ws the problem - the Elohim don't have The Pact of Nilhorn, how did they get a Hill Giant there in the city? (Maybe an event?) The Giant has an animal descriptor.

However, it looks like the summoned tigers are the problem; this is probably the same bug as post #2531. Anyway, I hope you don't mind that I eliminated both the giant and the tigers.

Best wishes,

Breunor

Awesome, thanks! How did you figure that out? :wow:

Normally I wouldn't want to clutter up a bug thread with this, but I'll risk it since it may be useful to other people looking at bugs.

Since I don't know code, I use brute force. Go into the worldbuilder and delete units until you see which ones get the game going.

The 'trick' is knowing how to go about this technique systematically. In addition, I've done this enough times that I have pretty good instincts on what is going wrong.

Best wishes,

I thought I had seen that this had been fixed already, but Ashen Veil is spreading to captured cities before the option to raze them comes up. This makes it very difficult to raise the AC as Hyborem.

I get 1 point per turn building units with prophecy marks, but that's about it. As a workaround for this game, does anyone have any suggestions on boosting the AC? All those lovely stigmata don't do much with it hovering in the mid 30's, and most of the AI players working to lower it...

Edit: this is the latest 0.41, patch j

Illusions completely heal after winning a combat. problem is, they can never win a combat because they retreat before winning. so this only works on defense, which pretty much never happens since summons are rarely around during enemy turns. please fix :D

That was changed, but it was reverted because it caused stability issues in MP games. As far as increasing the AC goes, try just spreading AV around normally

As illians can't build samhain but can build white hand. Maybe i built it but don't remember but I honestly don't recall ever seeing it in the buildable box. Maybe another illians in game and they built it? But don't remember ever seeing frostlings...

patch j. I captured a barb city on a grassland tile. My Mage was able to cast Spring. Of course, nothing happened when I cast.

Not sure if this is a bug or I'm just being dumb but... I have 3 priests of winter who have that summon blizzard spell and it does not appear to do anything. I repeatedly click it there's no effect and it doesn't use up a spell cast. Do I have to be within a certain distance of a blizzard created by the deepening or whichever ritual?
