Finally! Companies are hiring again. Just not in the US. US companies hire overseas.

For 10 bucks an hour? Thats amazing! Times are indeed tough.
Didn't say that - the 80/hr a week types usually make very good money. The only time I put in those kind of hours was when juggling 3 non-lawyer jobs and the pay was much closer to $10/hour than the pay I bring in now. I could work 80 hours a week now if I wanted to, but there are other things I would rather be doing with 30-40 of those hours.

$10 an hour is roughly $1,600 pretax per month on a 40-hour workweek.

We know you like this argument as you use it often enough (DADT report & DOD stats on GITMO detainees come to mind)

Crud on my math. Thanks for catching that.

I would say 1600 is still enough, as you pretty much qualify for some gov't programs & assistanceships, so it should be roughly post-tax income as well w/ gov't programs.

Call it 1400, just in case. 600 for a room, 200 for utils/phone/internet, 400 for food, 200 left over for fun budget.

Cost of Living in Connecticut cannot be higher than it is in DC or NYC, really.

And its not anyone's responsibility to take care of yourself but yourself.

And what about cost for car payments, car insurance, and student loans?

Well, since I was 200 off what I see on craigslist.org for rooms (400), there ya go.

If you are working, you can get assistance from gov't programs.

If you are no longer seeking employment (by actively filling out apps and interviewing, you are not going to get assistanceship).

And what about cost for car payments, car insurance, and student loans?
If you move, then move where there is public transportation. DItch the car and insurance. Student loans can be adjusted based on income and if you can't, then just default or only pay what you can.

And what about cost for car payments, car insurance,

Take the bus or move really close to work/school and walk to school/work, like in the old days.

and student loans?

Scholarships and grants. Having even a part time job will help, too, even if it's $10 an hour (which is a lot more than what I made 14 years ago, starting at $5 an hour, 3 days a week).

You're majoring in accounting, right? Then balancing a budget shouldn't be a problem... short-term sacrifices for long-term gains.

If I am wrong, then pray tell why these investors aren't investing there money when they are sitting upon bags upon bags of money!?
I explained that already. Twice.

The financial crisis caused the banks to loan responsibly. Which is to say, less loaning. Companies can no longer rely on the banks to get loans--they're on their own.

Nice try trying to break my ego, but this world has already done that.
That was never my intention. If I was trying to break your ego, believe me--you'd know.

Your ideas of "More profits = more jobs" are quite contradictory to the common laborer.
How so? What is it the greedy employer wants? Profit. They care about nothing else. Certainly not about your whining. If it's profitable to hire, they'll hire. If it's not profitable to hire, they won't.

Take the bus or move really close to work/school and walk to school/work, like in the old days.

Because it's totally practical to find public transport if you don't live in a city, or move

If you had to "Force yourself" to go to college, then it was probably due to your lack of employable skills rather than the "insidious capitalists" trying to somehow prevent you personally from getting a job.

No see, according to CivGeneral, everything is the fault of the insidious capitalists, including why he doesn't have a job, why he doesn't have marketable skills, and also its also their fault for him not having a girlfriend. We've been trying to convince him otherwise for years now, but its still the same thing. All the fault of "insidious capitalists".

Well if you are not in a city its not cost effective to provide. Remember that the US is not as densely packed as Europe, for starters.

Even then, it is not really up to standard.

Money is not what life is supposed to be about anyway. Just find something you like and become an expert at it. If you are good enough at something you can usually find a way to make a living from it.

That sounds like communism to me.

Well, back to the original topic. I do buy services and items for my business(flash games usually) and while I do care who I hire, most of the purchases of services and stuff has been overseas. I do hire US people also but most of the ones I purchase from recently are foreign. Its like same quality, better price.

Besides being a capitalist 'Fat Cat' seems like it would be pretty fun, because its a catchy term.
