You don't vote for the music, you vote for the entertainment!

That's why Estonia (they lost in the semi) should have won by far. (OK, I admit I had closed the voice during their song, but why do you need a voice with such a singer?)

EDIT: Does anybody remember the Greek entry SAGAPO a few years back? Lots of men dressed up as robots chanting robot stuff. Awsome.

I try very hard to forget about it. Hasn't seen anything worse for a while.

You're talking about the German entry? :mischief:
Absolutely! You are most perceptive. ;)

That's okay then. :)
I knew that would be the style of music you'd be taking the mickey out of.
In our private internal family vote, that was the only one that scored minus points.

I wish I'd seen the semi now.

Actually I'm amazed anybody else in Europe watches Eurovision without Terry Wogan...
We all have our own commentators who make fun of the dudes... that's not a British exclusivity. ;)

Congratulations Soumi!

You where well worth the win. Although, I’m a bit dissapointed that we in the Nordic countries did not stick together better. :D

"Say... Say the magic word: SAGAPO S.A.G.A.P.O"

Where are you from? We in Sweden gave Lordi 12 points...:mischief:

First of all, congratulations to Lordi!

Your poll misses an option for "EU countries should face the US as an opponent, as the songs are way 'americanized', but anyway...".
Then, if you wonder what business Israel has to participate on Eurovision, some would reply "what business does Turkey and Russia and Armenia have there, as well as at sports championships?"

I know at every EUrovision some contestants will be for pity and some others will be decent. I just relax, and enjoy the show.

What a nightmare... Hell must be easier to endure...

I had to watch the show till the very end, I just couldn't believe it. For the first time in history Finland's points whent above one hundred and for the first time ever Finland actually wins the whole thing. :)

The only note worthy songs (Apart from Finland's) that were there to compete where, imo, Norway's, Sweden's and Denmark's. They were actually good too, the rest were not so great. Germany's performance was passable, but not too much so. The rest of the song's (Apart from Finland) were just not good. And I just knew that France would sing it's song in French, that's quite typical of them.

Depending on how ones looks at it, Turkey and Russia have land in Europe.

Congratulations Soumi!

Suomi. ;)

I disagree. Bosnia's song was more of a song than Finland's (ok Lordi werent bad, not at all, but no need to act as if they are something more than a very mediocre hard-rock band). Bosnia on the other hand had an interesting song, and a singer who can sing, albeit he is only functioning as a folk singer.

I still do not think that Lordi would have won in the last year's Eurovision for example; moreover the novelty factor of a hard-rock group helped them.

I enjoyed listening to their song twice, but i do not view it as anything special by any stretch of the imagination.

OMG - i just heard their song now ... they ROCK. :woohoo:

Congrats Lordi ... they truly deserved to win with that song. :goodjob:
Btw, Romania came up 4th. :smug: W00t ! :D

It reminded me of Crematory, with the song "Tears of Time".
Imo their lyrics are not very interesting :/

But maybe they can help bring more interesting bands to future contests :)

It's special by the fact that Finland has never won the Eurovision before. And Finland has been taking part since 1961 (Or 62, can't remember the right number), and the best rank that Finland has ever got before this was Marion Rung's song "Tom Tom Tom" in the 1970's which got to the 6th place.

At least they'll have a better excuse for going to war then. ;)
