Depending on how ones looks at it, Turkey and Russia have land in Europe.
Simply because their borders are next to EU borders, doesn't make them European. They are NOT in the EU(and not to speak for ethics, culture, political democratic system, human rights, and so on...). So, if they "deserve" to compete at EU competitions, so does Israel, that's why I still don't understand the poll option.
Is that a REAL problem that Israel took place at the competition? Come on.

Lordi made me jump for joy! The Extasy of the whole ordeal!

For the first time ever the eurovision songcontest had a meaning for me.

Hurah Hurah for Lordi/Finland!

(When is the single coming out?)

BTW

King Alexander; Switzerland, Bosnia and Norway and so on are not members of the EU, and still got to participate.

Both Russia and Turkey have land on the European subcontinent. The cultural, ethnical and political hearthland of Russia lies west of the Urals.

Turkey will definetly joyn the EU inside ten years tops.

What would really be strange is if a prog band appeared on Eurovision. By the time they finish there won't be time for anyone else.
They're not allowed to go on for more than 3 minutes. Good job too in some cases...

We all have our own commentators who make fun of the dudes... that's not a British exclusivity. ;)
indeed, the swiss commentary for ther french song went something like: "well, I have to admit she sings off-key, but at least she's consistent about it"

yes, lordy are only a mediocre hard-rock band, but even a downright bad hardrock band would beat the "let's-all-be-nice-to-each-other"-feelgood-bands that are usually fielded ;) and as such they fully deserved the win.

switzerland, however, once more dazzled the audience with a boring and horrible song *yuck*

I had the misfortune to hear the winner - Hermann Munster singing a second rate American "hard rock" song from the '80s, I thought.

I was told that the Bosnian song was good, but my heart was really with the Croatian entry, the quite astoundingly attractive Severina. Don't know if you know her background, but I was obliged to spend some time googling for her home videos before the song contest, and, without having heard the song, would state unequivocally that she clearly was the most talented of the performers....

It's not great, and Lordi were pretty dull when i saw them live, but I am glad they won because a)I am a rocker and b)It sums up the whole contest that a Gimmick can win!

Fifty points to that group for looking like a bunch of Orcs out of LOTR. That is so cool!
It takes a lot of dedication to keep that image up in public. They won't even be interviewed as "civilians" according to my local newspaper.

Lordi was great! More than that, it is biggest boom after Dana International. It only goes to show Europeans are open to new ideas. I'm proud of people who woted for Lordi! Good job everone.:goodjob:
