First Day of the Week: Sunday vs. Monday

What is the first day of the week?

I don't think "most people were grown up with" it. At all. They're all wrong, of course, the ones that weren't, but they were raised that way.

So people using different methods to you are "wrong"?

And I was brought up using Sunday-first anyway.

I'm not buying your smiley-face propaganda, Cheetah!
I was always told an argument reaches further with a smile... Perhaps I should have used more smileys? :) :)

Sunday-First is what most people were grown up with. It's like them using metric/imperial based on what they grew up with, and getting them to change it would be pretty hard.
Well, technically, "most people" grew up with the first day of the week being Monday. At least ~all people on the Eurasian continent did. :) :) :)

And the same for Africa and South-America. :) :) :) :)

And the vast majority of humanity have long since adopted the metric system. You're free to follow at any time. :) :) :) :) :)

Weekend is called weekend for a reason. ;)

As TK said, weekend, not weekends.

So if we're going this route, Saturday is the weekend, with Sunday being the first day of the week... :p

Monday being the start is ENTIRELY related to economic setup.

Sunday being the start ties in heavily with theology.

Sorry, I meant most people who use Sunday-First do so because they were brought up with it, not that most people use it. Sorry about that :p

The smiley-propaganda works! :) :) :) :) :) :)

(Well, not on Lucy. But I heard witches are oblivious to the soothing feeling a smile gives. :hmm: How much do you weigh Lucy?)

Actually, it didn't for me :p I just said it like that because my post was unclear and I was kind of ashamed by it

I'm not a witch, I'm American. :cowboy: Where we start our weeks on the right day. :coffee: I KNOW PROPAGANDA WHEN I SEE IT. :eekdance:

Does "week-end" include sunday or not ?
Did God rest the last day or the first ?

Answer seems pretty obvious.

I consider monday to be the start of the week, because that is when the weekend is over and I'm back doing stuff.

Replace all the :) in this thread with :assimilate:. YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE, HERETICS.

Ah, but using the Jewish day of rest, Saturday, and the Jews being God's people, Sunday becomes the start of the week!

..though I'm curious why the day of rest shifts across all three Abrahamic faiths.

The Resurrection occurred on a Sunday, so that's the primary day of rest and feasting for Christians.
