First DLC confirmed (2 Civs + scenario) - What will it be?

Well, from the point of view of "making business" there is no point to release "complete DLC".

In other words, releasing just one DLC which would allow you to create a complete SE Asia scenario/mod, doesn't make sense.
Much better it would be to split the needed civilizaton up to different packages, so that people are to buy them all.

Take a look at this:

Ah! That makes sense.

I just checked, and at least in the current build you can have up to 22 other civs (23 including yourself.) This is not necessarily the final number as I'm looking at a beta version of the game so don't depend on it and don't yell at me if it changes! ;) I'm not sure if this number can be easily raised in lua or if it would require a source code modification to change; I'll look in to that.

Oh, and that number does not include city-states. You can have a ton of city-states (there are typically more city-states than civs.)

Is this a hint to two unannounced civs? 18 + babylon + 2 from first DLC ("D2D") + 2 more?

i really want to see maya

leader: pacal

special ability: irrational fear.

- fearing the world will end in 2012, mayans recieve 50% spaceship production bonus to attempt to flee the earth, but if the clock reaches 2012, the mayan civ suicides itself

Well what ever civilizations there will be. I think those will be included with Babylon in the first expansion. Its one easy way to get everyone up to date and minimizing the versions. It would be quite stupid not to have them in the first expansion and I think they already have a contract with D2D and Steam that gives them exclusivity for certain time and when it ends they will release the first expansion.

Or they offer a "discount bundle DLC": Get all previous DLC civs at a discount. If it's after a year or so and they don't include the map/scenario packs the early customers might not be too angry about it being offered cheaper.

But adding all to the Expansion is also very possible. Or they don't care to get everyone up to date?

Oh, just had an evil idea: Package all civs together in two packs so you can charge more, package one strong civ (Mongolia) with less popular/demanded one (Korea) so you don't have to worry about people saying "Holy Roman Empire and Zulu? I pass ..."

I don't think this "evilness" will happen, because there are tons of popular civs which are not in the game.

And sidenote: Korea might not be that popular here, but look at south korea ;). If they add Korea as DLC, it will probably be the most bought one.

it's

SEALAND!!!!!!

Come on firaxis, people will buy it.

It would be stupid if they did have them in the expansion. Can you imagine the rage if all of the people who spent 20-30 on DLC so far suddenly find out the first xpac has gameplay improvements and expansion, and all of the DLC they already bought? Not that 2k seems overly worried about rage.

You know, I think it doesnt come with an extra civ, Since they say 'FREE Premium DLC Get the first Double Civilization and Scenario Pack for FREE.' Double civilization and scenario pack. this could mean that it is double since you get both the civilization and the scenario!!

2K Greg has confirmed in the D2D thread that it is 2 Civs plus a scenario

The D2D version does indeed come with a bonus of 2 civilizations and a scenario. The deluxe edition comes with Babylon as you know, and that's in addition to the 2 other civilizations.

So collection packs in your opinion is something new. People buy expansions to a game and later you can get the game and the expansions in one pack that is usually even cheaper than the original game and separately bought expansions. This would not be anyway different. If you want to play with those DLC things immidiatly you of course can if you buy them from the net but if you don't you can later buy them with the expansions. Its not really the game companys fault if you are ready to pay of a thing over the net and then they later make actual expansion with these same extras in it with the new stuff also. To me that sounds normal business.

I myself wouldn't buy DLC as I like solid copies but I would never even beleive that something would be left for only DLC users as it would still limit using those civilizations as those who bought it from some where else would not have them.

This thing could be compared to GTA IV they made it for consoles first and intentionally chose to not release on PC until much later so they could milk the consoles as much money as they could. Same thing happened with the expansions they were short time exlusive with X-Box but when the contract ended they quickly appeared for other platforms. So I would not be really suprised that after the exlusive contract ends that they will be released in some expansion or even for free to download in some patch.

Actually, the Maya didn't believe the world would end in 2012.

Genghis Khan is mentioned here in what was presumably an oldish build (4 paragraphs below the 'reinventing history' heading). Perhaps Mongolia has been converted into a downloadable civilization?

continuing thier recent found trend of lets make tons of different versions, they will probably have.

Expansion pack: new relion and espionage blah blah
Civ's Bonus pack: all the civ dlc's out
Big Ol' Map Pack: all the map dlc out
Grand pack: all civs and map dlc out
Super Duper Supreme pack, only $89.99: all the above.

lol :P,

Well personally if anyone "gets all ragey" because they paid X amount for a DLC or DE content and then it gets released later for Y, "note: Y<X". Then they are stupid, you aren't buying a DLC expecting exclusivity just to yourself, if anything your paying for early access to downloadable content, they dont have to promise they wont ever give all DLC's for free after Z amount of time.
