Just watched the highlights on BBC and wow, Santi Cazorla is looking FANTASTIC. 0-0 was a weird result, given how great Arsenal looked going forward and how weak they seemed defensively. Shame we couldn't finish anything.

Podolski and Giroud are going to need a few games to get going methinks. Cazorla was indeed very good, as were Gibbs and Gerv. Defense looked better than last year, Mertesacker was the obvious weak link: too slow and often out of position. I expect Kos to get picked over him when all our CBs are fully fit. I'm also not convinced by Diaby or Jenkinson; hopefully their both standing in for the likes of Sagna, Ox and Wilshere.

Sunderland parked the bus after a few forays into our half at the start. We failed to break them down, but came very close several times. I'm feeling fairly confident for the up coming season... I think we have a shot at a cup or in Europe if not the league.

Giroud really should've scored late, and at the very least put it on target, but apart from that there weren't really any genuine chances for Arsenal to score.

Based solely off the one match, Cazorla and Gervinho seem to provide a great contrast for Arsenal, with Cazorla's incisive passing ability and Gervinho's ability to run through the defense. Certainly gives the team plenty of options going forward, and as the team gels a bit should provide some serious attacking threats.

I expect him to take over Xavi's role in the national squad in a few years; he's played in that role ahead of Fabregas currently (or so I'm told).

Close win for Man City today. Here's hoping that Aguero isn't hurt too badly.

If it a long term injury Man City will have to fall back on one of their world class, highly paid strikers. Those poor darlings.

6 (!!) Bundesliga clubs out in the first round of the German Cup.

Everything's on Fire at HSV (who lost against Karlsruhe), seems more and more that Fink leaving Basel was a very bad decision. I'm surprised if he's still coach 6 games from now. Hoffenheim even lost 0-4 to a 4th league club.

I hope they keep him on the bench for 80% of every game... EDIT: and then not win a trophy and Arsenal win the FA Cup or something.

Man U have just released details of Van Persie's first pay packet:

I only got to watch the first half. What is it with Everton that they play well against Manchester sides and sometimes against Chelski or Arsenal and then flop against teams like Blackburn, Wigan, etc.?
