Forum migrated to xenforo!

TrekBBS changed from vBulletin to Xenforo earlier this year. They managed to have a multiquote feature, so there's no reason why we don't have one. That is a basic and necessary feature, and without it, I predict numerous instances of serial posting.

It would be nice to have collapsible forums. I really don't care about anything between Site Feedback and Civ II and between Civ II and the Colosseum.
Multiquote is a feature we can enable.
Works now.

Simply hit reply and, when the reply box appears at the bottom of the screen, scroll up and hit reply on the next post you wish to quote.

Thank you.

I understand from some people that their ability to edit/delete their posts is not limited to 5 minutes. It is for me, and another Retired Moderator has speculated that this is due to permissions not being completely tweaked for all usergroups. Would it be possible to fix this, please?

That's not real multiquote, and only works for the page you're on.

This is a screenshot from one of my posts on that forum.

EDIT: The screenshot didn't work. Basically, there's a "+" sign in front of the word "quote" to differentiate it from normal quoting, which occurs when the person uses the "reply" link to reply to a thread. The posts in the multiquote queue can be discarded or changed to a different order, if the poster wants to.

If there is a place to change custom user title I don't see it

also there's no font option for comic sans :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I see there are plugins for xenforo (or maybe even included out of the box) with the possibility to embed .gifv, .webm, .mp4 and those fancy new video things that are trying to replace the old .gif format from sites like imgur, gfycat and others. Doesn't seem to be enabled here though.

This would be really nice to have as they both take up way less bandwidth and have much higher quality than regular gifs.

For comparison

Re: the multiquote issue, this isn't multiquote.
It wasn't just the user base: I don't think any of the staff, barring TF himself and one or two other admins, knew. We'd talked vaguely in the staff forum about moving to other software but had no plans to do it. It seems to have been done on the fly as a solution for a problem with malware popups that appeared after a patch about a week or two ago. It also appears to have solved the email problem too.

I think we're working through the associated problems with any abrupt software change and learning the new software fairly quickly. It would have been nice to get some warning but I understand why TF moved us over.
Yes, warning would have been nice.
Um, I haven't gone through this entire thread, but where's the database? (and I miss the old emojis ... :( )
They said the emojis will be back.

A bunch of the font sizes on posts in my topic are a bit out of whack now. I had a bunch of headers that used larger-than-default font sizes that are now smaller than they used to be, and some smaller than the default font size! Like this one.

Is there still an option for BCC messaging? I'd hate to have to send the same message separately to all the people involved in an activity.

You simply send a message to multiple people, and the conversation will show up in the same layout as a thread. Is way handier than the way before.

I tried to search for threads started by me in a forum but instead I got a list of all posts by me. So instead of 3 pages I got 100s! Not only that the search did not default to the forum I was currently in so the posts were for all over.

Am I missing something in the search?

There is an option in the profile ('Information' tab) 'Find all threads by [your username]' but when I tried it, it just timed out without giving me any results...

But does that work for BCC, if you need to send a message to more than one person but they should remain anonymous to each other? I guess the question is what happens if you don't want to have a 'conversation', but maybe just want to send a 'private message' (to coin a phrase :p) Probably what Valka's thinking about is the Iron Pen story topic.

I am not seeing an 'Information' tab anywhere in my profile. Can you give a hint as to where it might be. I am finding the forum difficult to use and this font is not easy to read.

Downloads database will come back. Within the next day or two hopefully.

We also plan to add all old smilies back this week.

I also plan to add a darker forum style this week. Right now we have just one style so I don't expect it to please everyone, especially for users who were using the darker themes.

Will also add a civ6 forum style.

Thank God that you haven't misplaced the Downloads sections. The very Heart of this site of course.
So no units and other stuff has been lost in this technology urge to change design.

Hopefully all links inside old posts will direct to the correct places then.
Get it up and running mates !!!!

Exactly. The identities of all the Iron Pen authors in any given competition are known only to myself until the stories are written, posted, critiqued, and the voting phase is done. Anonymity is essential, and not even the authors are supposed to know who their opponents are. If this new forum doesn't support BCC, that means I won't be able to save time (and messages) by being able to post standard messages to everyone at once (since Iron Pen is a time-sensitive activity, I really try hard to make sure that everyone is kept informed at the same time).

Re: the multiquote issue, this isn't multiquote.
Since I couldn't take a screenshot, I've linked to one of my posts on TrekBBS (it's in one of the public media subforums, so it should be visible to non-members). Scroll down (post #11) and have a look at the bottom of the post, and note the "+Quote" link. That's the link for multiquote, and if it's used with other posts, it results in a queue of posts (Xenforo includes all multiquoted posts, no matter which thread they're from, which is really inconvenient). The poster can discard the ones not wanted, and reshuffle the order of the others as desired.

If I managed to use the uploader correctly then there should hopefully be a screenshot below with a crappy red arrow on it:

Found a character matching issue, idk if someone's already seen it.
