I am very happy to announce that we have successfully migrated the forum from vBulletin to Xenforo.

There are still a few things left to do, but I am opening the forum as this part is complete.

The main remaining task is migrating the downloads to the new resource manager. We expect to complete this task tomorrow (Sunday).

We are also migrating the main site as the old CMS was dependent on vBulletin. This part will take a bit longer for us to do.

Everything is new. Please take a look around and report any issue you see.

Enjoy! :)

PS: We will put back all the old smilies...
PS2: Right now we only have one forum style and it's work in progress... We will add more styles in the future for sure.
PS3: New forum software is mobile friendly!

EDIT (10/2): The downloads will take a little longer to return as the specialist was not able to work on it much today due to other appointment.

Congrats on the successful migration, and can't wait for the return of the classic smileys and forum styles :D

If I'm allowed to ask, was the migration due to expected traffic in the upcoming months?

And what does log-in with facebook do? Does it make your account your name and your profile pic your avatar?

Feedback:
It's really weird to see likes though, but changes are expected anyway. Will agree on those who hate likes though :D

The trophies feel silly, but it's kinda harmless so I guess it's fine.

Thank you for the unlimited storage for messages! Best thing ever.

Very lovely new alert system, makes frequented threads less spammy.

You can highlight text and reply to it!! It's nice.

[Can't see the PM button though.] Start a conversation button works fine now

[Spoilers or quotes which doesn't redirect to a user are kinda absent] Seems it's just the buttons but I do expect that it'll return :(

You can read profile posts in the main website, is it intentional? I thought the profile page was secludedly public?

[Stickied threads are kinda hard to distinguish from non-stickied] Turns out I've missed color red :D and it would be better if forum tabs also have links to subforums. Mobile also doesn't have access to the latest activity in the subforum (like PulseMusic)

[People who opted to have no visibility (i.e. no information on profile if he is online or not) have visibility!] Probably just a few settings away. Anyway, you can't slash a piece of text.

OK. Well, good job.

I'm wondering why the 'get daily' (i.e. search new posts) feature seems to be missing. Also, layout seems to have reverted to a previous setting and I can't locate where to change it back now.

EDIT: Just noticed Get Daily is now New Posts, so never mind that.

That, and also the fact that we were running on outdated software.

Upgrading the forum was something that I wanted to do for long time, but the addons we used (downloads, gallery, vbdrupal) made it problematic to upgrade.

This time I hired a specialist who does this kind of forum migration for a living to do this migration.

Lots of things are different and will take some time to get used to. :)

But I think you will all like it. :)

Try it out on mobile as well btw. New forum software is mobile friendly!
No need for tapatalk.

Is there any way to change the colours. White background hurts my eyes (sadly)?

RIOT RIOT RIOT /throws molotov

Tbh I like the aesthetic style of vbulliten better, but I can definitely understand and appreciate the need for more modern software. Ultimately, I am just haply to see CFC propser, and hope that it continues to do so more.

Some questions on forum moving:

It seems the pm box limit of 500 has been removed? If so, I greately appreciate that, as someone who likes to keep copies of all my PMs for reference.

Spoiler tags are currently broken. For both OT and IOT, spoiler tags are extremely verstitile and their current infunctionality is greately unappreciated. Will that be fixed?

Can you make the background of the site match the background of the textboxes? Everything should be the same CFC grey we come to know and love.

The addition of Alerts and Likes is about the only thing I enjoy about this change. I can understand why the move was made but it's unfortunate. :(

Edit: Okay, here's a bug. We can't minimize categories anymore.

I took a quick look at a couple of my tutorials on Civ5 C&C. The text itself looks crisper but the formatting of CODE blocks and the like makes them wash into the background too much IMO. Spoilers also seem like they get lost in the background a bit.

Don't know if it is merely a bright background issue as compared to what I am used to seeing.

The very nearly invisible lines wrapping posts, post preview boxes, message reply boxes, and the like makes it much harder to "see" what is part of what, especially for this bifoculled older guy.

(edit: you have already de-brighted the overall look of the forum. thxs)

Blah I do not like this update - happened as soon as I needed to download the Enhanced User Interface mod and now I cannot do so http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=21929

Please get this link back up and operational. Thanks.

P.S. Does anyone by any chance have the direct link or even a copy of the EUI Mod they could link me to. Much Appreciated.

P.S x2 this is the original forum post I am discussing about http://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/enhanced-user-interface.512263/

As Thunderfall's opening post says:

As Thunderfall's opening post says:
I'm to impatient for tomorrow :D

Just be a good lad and upload the zip file to the forum post its a pretty small file if I remember correctly. I know a lot of people have the zip file.

Have been wondering to myself how long this site would keep its old format. Suppose I have that question answered now, looks nice.

The stickied threads for a number of sub-forums don't seem to have migrated over.
  1. Is this something we will need to redo on a individual basis?
  2. Or is it yet to be done?
  3. Or is not possible to have stickied threads with xenforo?

I use Tapatalk on my phone to access CivFanatics. I noticed that it still doesn't see the forums from my app. Will this fix, or would I have to use another app?

Ugh, there really needs to be better framing for posts. Nothing stands out.
