I have a question:When will Tibet regain independence?
I hope soon.Maybe there will be a "Tibetan Revolution".
The "vile Chinese" will be defeated by great Tibet!
Please vote in the poll if you visit this thread.

An independent Tibet would still be majority Han now. Not sure what's to be gained by independence when you consider that, unless you favour mass expulsions of people.

Ah, nice to see we can look forward to an impartial and unbiased discussion then...

It doesn't have to be impartial, but I highly doubt the OP's capacity to discuss this matter in an informative and interesting manner.

I would support a free Tibet but I just don't see that realistically happening.

China destroyed a lot of Tibet's culture and now just promotes it for tourism. They destroyed a lot of Tibet's monasteries. Of course they destroyed their own culture too during the Cultural Revolution but that's not exactly an excuse.

He is new. :) Just joined since August of this year.

Exactly. The "vile Chinese" will soon be "totally crushed and defeat" by the "heroic freedom resistance" of Tibet.

There won't be any free Tibet because the Chinese, much like so many conquerors in history, were brutal enough to do what it takes to forever take a territory from another people: re-settle the territory with your own, and crush any hint of resistance.

It's informative to compare the odds of a free Tibet with those of a free Palestine.

Incidentally, what government would Free Tibet have? The Dalai Lama's nice and all, but I'm not interested in restoring a theocracy.

I belive he stepped down from all political power in the exile state. If he were to have a role in a new Tibetian state, it would be a figurehead only.

I support Tibet independence, but I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon.

Well considering that the PRC is an illegitimate government itself, their claim to Tibet is even more far reaching than their claim to the whole of China.

While I think the poll options are a bit limiting, I care little enough about Tibetan freedom to go ahead and vote for "No,China did well in annexing Tibet and Tibet must remain within the PRC."

Fail to see how a theocratic despot that treated its subjects brutally is any worse than Godless commie heathen rule.

Bad poll. While I don't have any particular affinity for old Tibet, I don't necessarily think China's annexation was for the best. However, now that Tibet is part of China, it's probably for the best it stay there.
