Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I meant whether posting would be allowed for guest (not logged in) users ever again.

I'm pretty sure I posted a few times as guest before making my account.

Pity, could've been used occasionally in forum games.

On other forums like this there is usually a link called "Show new replies to your posts". Lists any thread that you've posted in that has a new reply. Where can I click that here?

I found the Today's Posts under Quick Links but, well... I'm a petty, self interested poster and I don't care about everyone's posts across the entire forum. I just really wanna see where there might be new responses to me or to threads I start. Any help much appreciated. : )

The default setting is to be automatically subscribed to threads you post in, I believe. If you click on 'My Account', you'll see all your subscribed threads with new replies. You can also get email notifications for new posts in subscribed threads if you select the correct setting.

My Account has 0 threads subscribed in it. I see the Notification Type dropdown every time you submit a post which would be kinda similar but not nearly as good as I'd have to manually subscribe to every thread I posted in. You could just use it to keep track of the important threads but one of the best uses of "Show new replies to your posts" was for seeing a reply to a post you'd long forgotten about.

I guess if we don't have it here I'm asking for it. AFAIK it's a generic link that comes with this type of forums so an admin could just add it under quick links. Pretty please. : )

Ah, okay. You can change your default notification type, such that you will be automatically subscribed to threads that you post in. Go to 'My Account', 'Edit Options', and change 'Default Thread Subscription Mode'. It sounds like it's currently 'Do not subscribe'. For me it's 'No email notification', which means that I'm automatically subscribed to threads I post in, and they come up in 'My Account' when there are new replies. However, I don't get email notifications for new posts. But the other options will allow that, too.

It's working now except when I click on "My Account" the page that comes up says:
New Subscribed Threads: (0)
There are no subscribed threads to display in this folder for this time period.

And then I click on "View all Subscribed Threads" and it takes me to a folder with threads in it. Is there some way to get the threads on the first click?

And thanks for your patience as I noobishly navigate the Account settings.

You'd be amazed at how many people can't find it. :)

No.. I don't think I would be. : P

It's way more complicated than clicking "Show new replies to your posts" button that sits at the top of forums that I'm used to. I'd seen the notification options all along but I always associated them with notification by e-mail. Ewww no TY.

So the other day I started a Civ IV group. Before that I had just learned that there was such a thing as groups. We've already doubled our membership. I was going through the options and found the invite members tab so I went through the mod thread and invited people who had posted there.

The thing I noticed is that the list of invited members don't have any order to them (or at least nothing I can discern). Either alphabetical or sorted by the date the invite was sent would be useful. If there is a setting that can be changed in groups that'd be great; if that is just the way the forum software works then it's not a big deal.

My Account gives you a list of subscribed threads, but you might need to set something up in options first.

Yep thanks, got My Account working. : )

Another issue. On my standard zoom settings with Firefox the dropdown at the top of the page doesn't always work. Pictures:

After zooming out twice:

It sucks because the other dropdowns do work, the Civ IV one doesn't because it has so many links and it's the one I'd be using the most. I get the exact same issue in Chrome as well. Besides zooming out is there any way I can force the dropdown to always go down?

Mine always drop down. :dunno:
