Frequently Asked Questions

it's an underused stat atm, hardly any events are fueled by it, so it has little to no effect to your city.

I've looked everywhere but I can't find what crime rate a certain city has?, is there any place in the info screen where I can find it, or is it an unknown stat?

The only place I've found it is at the bottom of the listing when you mouse over the city. It's a bit irritating that there's nowhere in the city screen itself that reports the number since it's referenced on so many buildings.

Workers (And I assume every unit with 0 strength), are no longer valid targets for assassination attempts. This is to make the Guardsman promotion valid (as previously, people used to carry giant stacks of workers, so that the assassins just pick the workers off)

Hyborem is a Hero, and as a result, gets a massive "Decreased chance to defend the stack" (Which I *think* means that the base strength of Hyborem is reduced to a HALF)

Unfortunatly, this means that he, when he is strong-ish, he acts as a decent guardsman unit, even without guardsman, as he draws the assassins to him (!!)

I killed Basium 3 times with that fact (And with the Nether Blade, of course)

As for not picking Imps... I dunno... thats odd.

And ritualists can't see those types of units, but I am not sure that the AI doesn't check to see if it can actually see the unit, when it takes into consideration when to use the Ring of Flames ability.

However, that said, Ring of Flames doesn't kill, just damages. Your shadows may be weak, but unless there is a way it gets detected, it won't die.

Thanks for your reply and explanation. I am still not sure why the Imps were not the main target of the Shadow. No Nether Blade involved here. Also, I didn't know that about the Workers - this is good to know as I was one who always carried Workers along as Assassin fodder in my stacks. ;)

Yeah, the Ring of Flames is only damaging...but, it is very annoying too in that I have to move away to heal and HN Shadows can take a longer time than usual to heal. I'd still like to know one way or another if they can see Stealth/Invisible units. On the rare occasion when I have had a Ritualist, I don't recall them having this ability.

Perhaps it is a bug in that they can see the Shadows:confused:

Mouseover the city name on the main map.

It is just that the spell checks for any valid target without checking if the target is visible. So even for when you are playing you might notice sometime that Ring of Flames is castable, but there aren't any actual targets nearby. It will be rare as you seldom give orders to your units each and ever turn, but it could happen.

Thanks, xienwolf. So what you are saying is that the Ritualist CAN see Stealth/Invisible units.

That needs to be added to his abilities or perhaps it is a bug. I don't think any of the other Priest units have this ability.

Of course, one good thing is that the Ritualist doesn't identify the Invisible unit so others can attack (like a bird) - it just keeps setting off that Ring of Flames each turn. :(

Well, the Ritualist can't see him, more that he can sense him. If he could see him then it would allow the ritualist and all other units belonging to that player to attack you directly.

Hmmm, this is a new game feature, I think...units with the ability to 'sense' other units. ;)

Do other religious units/Priests or any other units for that matter have this ability?

If so, this could change my strategy a bit with Stealth/Invisible units.

The most notable case where this happens elsewhere is the Revelation spell. Don't have to see the invisible unit to be allowed to cast it. Other than that... I would suspect that NONE of the spells which require an enemy within a certain range actually pay attention to them being visible or not. So Maelstrom and earthquake would do it as well

I think the AI castes spells wehenever it can. I know I was beigning driven out of my mind by an AI prior casting bless every turn, because anouther unit in the stack was summoning something every turn. So, if Ring of Flames has a valid target, the AI casts Ring of Flames

His purpose was to stop units from going obsolete. When the bNeverObsolete tag was added his purpose was gone.

Hello, all. I ahve just installed the latest version of the game FFH2 for BTS, and also have the latest version of BTS. However, when I go into my game and look up "load a mod", it won't show up. When I make a quicklink to the file on my desktop and click on it, it asks me what program I wish to run it on, and then do nothing. When I try to run it on BTS, it still won't appear in the MODS menu, even though I have the file saved in my MODS subfolder in my BTS games area. Any suggestions are very appreciated, as I anticipated the ability to play this greatly!!!!!!

"the file" is an (exe) installer. You have to run it and install the mod for it to work. If it's not an exe file then it's because one of the download sites remove that part of the name; adding .exe at the end should enable you to run it.

Hmmm I saved it int my mods folder.
So all I have to do it change the name of the file to .exe by just typing on the end of it?
One of my previous problems was that it would ask me what I wanted to open it with, but failed to work on BTS.

Interesting fact: I downloaded the .32 version of FFH2 and that works fine. I downloaded it from a different website, so maybe that made the diff?

ok, I'll give it a shot. While I'm at it, I have to know: what are some significant differences from version .32 and .34? In the professional opinion of the thread, which do you all feel is better?

Wow. This isn't good. For some reason, as soon as I attempt to play the .32 version of FFH2, the game crashes right after I load in my character info. I have the latest version of BTS (3.17), with the fancy new title screen and all, but for some reason, it still crashes before the map is in. Am I missing something?

Also I renamed my FFH2 file with an .exe after it, which made me able to open it, but for some SURE WEIRD reason, it takes me into CIV IV:BTS and not the game, even though the shortcut is for FFH2, and it even says FFH2 in the upper-right hand corner. I also even says that te Mod is installed, and working. But when I play, it's just a normal CIV IV:BTS game. I played a few rounds with Churchill and everything....weird.

Any help is great, as you've all been very good to me so far. I'm pretty much at a loss here as to what to do next.....
