Frequently Asked Questions

My wife just cast the Ljosalfar worldspell and, when the ents died, there was no new forest sprouting. Was the worldspell nerfed at some point?

what? are you seriously telling me that casting the Ljos spell is going to get rid of ALL trees in their territory? why would I ever use it then? so that I won't be slaughtered now, but I can be damn sure that I'm going to get butchered a little later? :\

The Ancient Forests are turned into New Forests when you cast the worldspell. The New Forests will, eventualy, become Ancient Forests again at some point.

ah, that makes a lot more sense. thanx for the clarification. as you can tell, it has been a while since I've played as the Ljos. why would one ever want to play as them when the Svart are so much more fun, is beyond my understanding :D

Whats the status of the work on AI? I've been seeing a lot of civs fail to research Education recently and think even some simple beelining instructions would help them out a lot.

I think a lot of the AI work is going to be 3rd party. Like Notque's mod, etc. Kael should look into incorporating good changes from the modders eventually.

Screenshots are the biggest advertisements for me. Is there a screenshot thread (besides the Funny Screenshots) that shows stuff like cities, buildings, units, wonders, etc?

For some (close-up) unit graphics, see the Art Team Blog.

Quick question: does anyone know if the Loyalty spell has any effect on a unit turning barbarian as a result of crazed/enraged?

Since a few patches, units cannot go barbarian because of enraged. They come under AI control. And loyalty has no effect on this.

Just to clarify what "come under AI control" means, it means that the unit stays as one of your units, but the AI starts controlling the unit (sort of like an automated worker). It doesnt mean that the unit switches over to an AI player.

I just finished a long game with patch z and I have a couple of questions.

1) Do Archmages stop gaining experience after a certain level even when their summoned units win fights? I had this happening a number of times.
2) After having built the Blood of the Phoenix, is it really normal for great engineers to get resurrected after they are used to finish projects? I had the same thing happening for tigers used to build tiger cages.

1)As far as I know, the archmages in FFH gain free xp up to 100XP. After that, they have to personaly fight and defeat enemies, other than barbarians.

2)Yes, it is normal. IIRC, Kael said that if someone had saved great persons long enough to get a benefit from BotF, it was something that didn't bother him.

With Permanent Alliances on, Is it possible to form a team of three civs by first entering a permanent alliance and then constructing the Mercurian Gate? Or does the Alliance disable the construction of the gate?

Yes, building the Mercurian Gate when you already have permanent allies will add another member to your alliance. It could be more than 3 way, but you'd have to either mod the dll (as snarko did) or start a game with larger teams.

Anything being done about the civilopedia lack of history?

 Thats a complaint I never expected to see. We have over 300 pages of history in FfH. I would challenge you to find any other game with as much unique documented history as FfH has.
