Today's xkcd is brilliant:

"An 'American tradition' is anything that happened to a baby boomer twice."

Apparently the same isn't true in the UK. Here's the top 10 most played xmas songs in the UK between 2003 and 2008:

1. Last Christmas - Wham! - 1984
2. Do They Know It's Christmas? (original 1984 recording) - Band Aid - 1984
3. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - 1987
4. All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey - 1994
5. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Bruce Springsteen - 1985 (1934 orig)
6. Stop The Cavalry - Jona Lewie - 1980
7. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard - 1973
8. Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade - 1973
9. Lonely This Christmas - Mud - 1974
10. White Christmas - Bing Crosby - 1941

so...

1990s: |
1980s: | | | | |
1970s: | | |
1960s:
1950s:
1940s: |

People who were kids in the 1970s and 1980s would have been in their 40s and 50s in the 2000s, so this makes sense, given how much those people spend.

Spoiler :
That's a great one, maybe not hilarious, but still.. Does it have any underlying meaning or is it just supposed to be a trippy version of Charlie?

Good grief, I thought I wouldn't have to explain this one.

Well, can you?

If you honestly couldn't tell, it was just playing with Charlie Brown's common catchphrase, putting it in a much darker context than it is usually seen in. Seriously, I still can't believe I have to explain this. Now I'm depressed.

Anyway, contributing with a comic.

"Technological advance is an inherently iterative process. One does not simply take sand from the beach and produce a Dataprobe. We use crude tools to fashion better tools, and then our better tools to fashion more precise tools, and so on. Each minor refinement is a step in the process, and all of the steps must be taken."

The butter crisis in Norway is the source of much amusement.

A Danish morning show did however send a big donation of butter to Norway, so they can keep going for a bit longer.

Humon just posts comics a lot less often these days. :undecide:

Which probably means we'll need a new title for the next thread.
