That's what they have shields for. Out in front of you for swordsmen, above your head for archers, kinda to the side for axemen. ICBMs? Just jump into a hole and cover the hole with your shield, you're good.

So what does this guy want exactly? We really mean it this time???

That's why you have the option to reject his empty threats!

My threats are not empty, even if I'm not threatening anything at all!

Captain America was a spearman?

Yes. Only he didn't even need a Spear- he was just a shieldman.

Wish there was an option to ask " Want some cheese with that whine?'

Hmmnnn, it would be funny if we could insult the AI just like they do us. I mean, fairs fair.

Sadly, all you can do is pretend and wish you could talk to the AI like that.

Yep. All you have is the option to backstab the AI anytime you wish :D But sometimes it's just not enough

You throw the shield like a Frisbee at the tracks and it'll be stopped dead (He needs the Accuracy promotion though, but what else is WB for?)

I always wondered how they won those battles against my tanks.(Note I never did play Civ 3 and have only played Civ 4 for about 6-8 months as of now.)

This one's from my current game: my friendly neighbors monty and shaka have been trying to sneak settling parties to the lone resourceless desert tile to my east, potentially putting cultural pressure on Smolensk and stealing its only food tile, the sheep; if I had closed borders I would have lost trade route income and more importantly lose the hard-earned open borders diplo merits and drop their attitudes towards me to "pleased," which would have been okay for most other AI save for these nutcases ... luckily even though both have metal casting, and could have used my own road network anyway, they insisted on sending them on unescorted galleys, which were promptly dispatched by my "mercenary navy" ... who says barb galleys are evil? :goodjob:

I love how the AI can't get enough of those crappy 1 tile islands, once I was able to build privateers before every one, and I parked half a dozen next to some tundra island while the AIs kept sending galleons after galleons to claim that piece of ice.

^ the "never settle cities one tile off coast" rule is overrated, resources are more important; if I had settled it 1E on the coast it would have retained the irrigated corn (barely visible on the bottom) while missing out on iron and 2 golds (also barely visible on the bottom left), in exchange for like four workable coast tiles and marginally higher trade route income which without financial, colossus, GLH nor astro just aren't worth it even with lighthouse, compared with the aforementioned resource bonuses

*On the deck of one of Monty and Shaka's galleys. "Sir there are to many barbarians we need to use land." "I SAY DAMN THE BARBARIANS FULL SPEED AHEAD."(To bad this wasn't the Civil War.)
