Sometimes, the RNG actually smiles upon you.

Nope. You are on an isolated start.

I know this because the RNG wouldn't possibly let you pull off a successful axe-rush that early :P

I was planning on putting this in the bug reports, but I lost the autosave, so it now comes here to see the weirdest DoW ever.

Note:

#1: I have 3 times his strength
#2: He is at the bottom of the table, and I am at the top. In fact, if his score and the second top score was added up, they would STILL be lower than me!
#3: I have about 10 technologies on him. He has Horseback Riding, which I don't. Because I dont have horses.
#4: He is pleased, after the DoW. Not only that, but he still treats Montezuma as his worst enemy. And I am in the same religion as him.

There were many better tactics... attacking Arabia would be powerful, as they have a massive long border to defend, but England has a shorter border. And Arabia also is under half my strength. Assyria wouldn't be a bad option either (but the shorter borders, stronger army, and better techs would still mean it would be suicide). But... me? *Sigh*.

The funniest thing in this image? He says "Time to die" ... while still smiling. Scary!

That is the current situation :p What matters is the situation when the AI decided to attack you that could have been 20 turns ago or more .

Anyway , without seeing his XML files, I can't say if being pleased would make any kind of shielding against a Dow of his side. Score and techs don't make a diference at all ( you never saw Monty on regular game ? :D ).... the only thing that could be wierd is the 3x power ( even monty would not consider to attack someone with 3x more power than him ), but without acess to the time the AI decided the attack and without the LH XML in hand, there is not much to say.

So... the rest of the world's votes didn't really matter AT ALL, did it?

Well I think you'll benefit more than him for that situation.

Maths: Each plains can yield 3 :food:, the city tile yields 3 :food:, the floodplains yields 5, the grassland yields 5. There are 6 plains, 1 grassland, 1 floodplains, and 1 city tile, for 29 :food: total. You need 8 population to work those tiles, which takes up 16 food, leaving you with 13 food. There are 7 gold deposits in range, which absorbs 14 food, so you are one food short.

I bet you wish you were Khmer right now, huh? :P (Baray will give you that 1 :food: you need... if you want to wait :P)

Or you could complete the Stables quest and choose the +1 :food: bonus for stables as your reward. ;)

Now this is just weird. The main thing to look at is the turn log.

It could be that he had a random event that caused him to declare war on you.

Well, Henry VIII was a maniac in real life too... at least towards the end of it. And he had syphillis, which probably affected his ability to think. Hey, if he can split from the Catholic church just like that, why not declare war on someone 4 times his power?

I've had AI's do that before... once, Gilgamesh declared war on me when he had 3 cities, was on a tiny archipelago in the middle of nowhere, had only 4 resources (Fish, Clams, Stone, and Gold. No military stuff, as you can see), and was at war with 3 other nations, and had no techs past construction while I was a few turns away from rifling AND he was my religion (Start as minors rocks). Though he wasn't pleased at me.

Thanks, I'm a bit of a lurker up till now :)

About the autosave, I did have it and now, well I can't find it. Apparently if you play another game is overwrites the autosaves for previous games?

Sorry guys

Yes it does overwrite. Just in case I want to play a game differently or if someone else wants to try it, I save the 4000 BC situation before doing anything else. I created a First Moves folder inside the saves folder, alongside the quick saves folder. I manually save the opening of every game there. If I forget, then I copy the 4000 BC autosave into it instead. You do have to be sure and give each new opening move a different name or they will overwrite, the same as in the autosave folder.

Someone asked him to or bribed him to, I'd say. Maybe someone he couldn't say no to.

Hey guys, lets go hang out in Madrid. I hear they have whales and uranium there at a terrible start position on a weird peninsula with a hill at the end of it.

So being Cyrus with horses nearby and a lone Louis in our way, he was begging for an immortal rush.

When we stumble upon his capital though....well, the barbs got him first :D

Nice defensive position...:dunno:

Hmm. If you ever want to build anything there, you need to whip the Maoi statues, so you actually have a hammer or three. Lighthouse wouldn't go astray either... How about the Colossus once you've got the statues there? (And slavery still in force!)

I think growing crops may be a little difficult:
