I don't understand why they removed it in the first place a few months ago, but it's something they've done before. I don't think it's particularly indicative of anything we don't already know, namely, that something is happening.

To be fair, there was also a thing a while back where a Firaxis artist shared what looked liked concept art for a Boudicca-style Celtic woman. No indication that was for Civ specifically (would have been a pretty big NDA breach if so), but there was definitely a link being made there when 'plaid' first appeared.

For my part, I don't think the two are related. I wouldn't mind seeing a Celtic Civ of some kind, but I consider it unlikely. If they do, I hope they avoid the 'blob' approach and go with the Gauls or similar this time.

As I mentioned then too, someone here on the forum gave a link to a specific page in the portfolio of an artist, but the page of the concept art of what seemed like a Celtic warrior lady was in between concept art pages for named characters of a book.
Which was probably for an unmentioned/cancelled game or just some book the artist liked. She also had some official concept art pages of civ6 and art for marvel, DC and other sci-fi/fantasy characters if I remember correctly and a study for how to hold medieval weapons. So the Celtic female warrior had probably nothing to do with a Celtic civ at all. To be honest if there comes another Celtic themed civ I'm expecting Ireland before the Gauls at this point.
And at least there is the excellent mod with an animated and voiced Gaul civ from Sukritakt on the steam workshop in the meantime.

As was said then, and now, it's probably not related to a Civ expansion. I mention it merely as I think it was helping to fuel the Celts speculation.

From the decription 'not a fan of Julius' she is probably the leader for the Gauls civ in one of the 4 dlc.

The closest thing I could find to a 'queen of the Gauls' is this archaeological site thought to be the tomb of a Gaul noblewoman: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vix_Grave

The Vix grave is an important site as it contains a massive amount of pre-Roman Gaul artifacts including the lady's prized possessions like expensive jewlery and the largest krater (solid bronze wine jug) known to archaeology. Some of the artifacts are pretty similar visually to that concept art image.

As a character she's pretty interesting now that I put some thought into it, a powerful and wealthy woman from a warrior culture that has a fondness for foreign riches. Could be fun as a Culture/Diplomacy Victory themed alt for Surkitact's the Gauls mod.

There has to be something coming soon to at least fix several bugs. Many of them game breaking still. The ability to spam pantheons threatens multiplayer. They should fix it soon. I'd be glad if it went update, two dlcs, expansion and like a map pack or something.
