Break My Heart
The Zeptha'Tsa Tapes
From Hesto'Edra
Tal'edra tsiChasa Hamsa entered the chambers of the Queen, performing the ritual salute due to a mother. Tal'edra Chasa returned the address, before Hamsa was approached by Tal'edra moChasa, the Tras'ta of the clan. Hamsa was the head of the Brood Guard, and the central communiqué between the Queen's chambers and her domain. "My lady", he said, "We have received word from the Edo'Into; they have delivered their promised tribute of 20 loads of Rasi'cha. With this shipment we will now be able to power another ship of colonization."
"Excellent", replied moChasa. "What of the Edo'Samsa, have they sworn fealty to us?"
"Yes, mother, after our raids they had no choice but to bow before us. The Edo'Samatrasa, however are still not bowing before us. Word is that they are to pledge their allegiance to the Tal'Zutra."
"This is indeed worrisome. If the Tal'Zutra gain access to the Edo'Samtrasa, they may be able to challenge our authority. See if there are any Haru Tasa'Oda under the Tal'Zutra with any recently lost Tras'ta. Send our most stalwart guards to compete in their Ha no tras'ta. Additionally, send our warriors out to raid the Haru Zastra of the Tal'Zutra, kill their Zastra, put the squeeze on their food supplies. Finally, convene with our sisters the Tal'Erda and the Tal'Astra. See if we can earn their aid to launch a raid on the Tal'Zutra's Hesto to limit their numbers."
"Very well fair mother," Hamsa said, before saluting Tal'Edra Chasa again. The Queen returned the salute, and Hamsa backed out of the den. Once out, he went about issuing the commands of the Queen.

The following is an excerpt of a transcription of a Zeptha'tsa reciting the story of her people to her daughter. The recital is a time-honored tradition whereby the tsa passes her knowledge onto her kin, an event which has happened exactly the same way for several hundred generations of tsa. As the Tras'na don't have a writing system, this oral tradition is crucial to the preservation of Tras'na history. In this particular excerpt, the the Tsa relates the birth of the first children from Chin'tsa, and the creation of the Haru, or castes. It is worthwhile to pay particular attention to the passage highlighting the creation of the Osudra, or Tainted
Listen daughter, for this is the story of our people. In the beginning there was but one of our kind. She was called Chin'tsa, and long she ranged over the land, but was sad to see its barrenness. For long she dreamed of a land full of her children, a land enriched by her kind, and long she wailed over her loneliness. The great star Zutra heard her cries, and so went down to the planet in the form of a man, and said to the Chin'tsa, "I am born of the light of Zutra, and so may you call me Zutra'las, may I keep you entertained for a time."
Listen daughter, thus the star of Zutra became the first Tras'ta. For them the god Artara built a tunnel of great design, and there the couple settled. They gave birth to a daughter, and Chin'tsa said unto this newborn, "You are my firstborn, daughter of Zutra. You shall be called Tal'Zutra, and you and your kind shall form a great brood that will thrive for milennia."
Listen daughter, for after the birth of Tal'Zutra the Chin'tsa and Zutra'las gave birth to many more children, and soon their nest was full of their kind, and Chin'tsa was pleased. But soon the time of Zutra'las was at an end, and the light of the star faded. Chin'tsa was full of grief, and couldn't bear the sight of her daughter Tal'Zutra, and so sent her and her kind away to build their own nest. But still her solitude did not quell her sadness, and so she cried again to the gods for another Tras'ta to keep her company. This time the star Astra heard her cries, and so came to comfort her.
The story goes on to describe how the star Astra gave birth to the queen Tal'Astra. Astra was followed by the star Edra, who formed the queen Tal'Edra. Edra was followed by his twin Erda, who made Tal'Erda. Erda was followed by the star Ita, who made Tal'Ita.
Listen daughter, for after the death of Ita, Chin'tsa desired no more Stars to be her consorts. She said to her 5 daughters, "Listen for you are born of the stars, so shall you always have a place special to me. You are the Zeptha, and long shall you reign o'er these lands. And so was created the first Haru.
The story then describes the birth of the Haru Zastra, 5 clans born of the sky, and the rain, and the rivers, and life, then the birth of the Haru Olisa, born of the 10 gods of the earth, and finally, the birth of the Haru Zela, born of the 5 builders of the Hesto'tsing (The citadel of the gods)
Listen daughter, for once the last consort of the Chin'tsa was born she looked upon her land and was contented. Her land was full of her kind. She said her work was finished, and she didn't wish any longer to have children. Things continued peacefully in this way for some time.
Listen daughter, for the god Teso looked up to Chin'tsa with derision, for he saw her great beauty, and was angry that he was not asked to be a consort of her. So one night as the Chin'tsa slumbered, Teso crept into her chambers and impregnated her in secret. Chin'tsa soon gave birth to the 26th queen. Because this Queen was created without the consent of the mother, the being was hideous and malformed. Chin'tsa looked upon this creature with scorn. "Being of evil and hate, get ye gone from my sight. But one name shall ye have, and be that Ukra. Ne'er shall you be in sight of my kind, always shall ye be hated and ostracized by my people. Thus was Ukra banished from the land. Her kind traveled far from this world and went into hiding. Her brood is now the Osudra, and well should you heed the advice of the Chin'tsa.
