HI

I updated 1.61 patch. Game crashes after 1900 AD whatever autosave period you give. But, even if i put save turn interval to 0 also, it crashes during 1200 or 1220 AD in Earth map with 1.61 patch. I use 1.61 no cd. Warlords works fine without any issues. But, general Civ 4 does not run properly. I've played until 2137 AD and all during 1.52 patch. I think some issue in 1.61 patch.

You could try updating your video drivers to the latest version offered by the GPU manufacturer. For example, if your PC has an nVidia GPU, the latest driver is v91.47, obtainable here:http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Also, try updating DirectX with the latest bug fixes, obtainable here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A1788990-5E11-4AE2-B5E7-CC576822AED4&displaylang=en

Both Civ IV and Warlords are dependent on the latest driver versions. Civ IV didn't work 100% for me until I installed the latest DirectX fixes. It looks to me like Warlords might have the same problem now, I'll be updating DirectX this weekend.

Also, if you video card does not have 256mb of memory, Civ IV/Warlords won't run as well as they might.

And if you still have the Harkonnen fix installed, remove it. It is no longer necessary with higher versions of Civ IV, IIRC.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi

Ive assembled a new system now as below. But, in this also, with 1.52 patch, i was able to paly the scenarios full, but after installing 1.61 patch, the game started crashing at 1220AD itself.

Intel E6300
FaxCon 975xAB motherboard
Corsair 2GB RAM with 4GB pagefile
Connect3D ATI Radeon x1900 XT 256 MB
Seagate Baracuda 240GB SATA 2 HDD

I just installed XP with SP2, DirectX 9c and the Game.

Kindly suggest me what to do now.

No. Im trying to play the normal maps comes with Civ 4 1.0 (like Earth, Earth in Ice Ages, etc. ) after installing 1.61 patch. It crashes exactly when i reach 1220 AD.

This problem i faced in my previous system spec (P4, Intel 82845GLVA, ATI Radeon 9250 PCI card, IDE HDD, 512 MB RAM) and even in my new system spec (E6300, Faxcon 975x board, Corsair 2GB Twinx RAM with 4GB pagefile, 240 GB Seagate SATA HDD, Connect3D Radeon 1900 XT) also.

When i install Warlord, i was able to paly warlord scenarios. But, when i try to play original maps, it crashes in 1220 AD. In this 1220 AD in both my system specs, it crashes, whichever the original map (comes with 1.0) i plays.

I suggest you contact Firaxis support.

I use 1.61 no cd.
If it's a No CD crack then it's unsupported, here or by Firaxis, and all bets are off.

not only does it crash at 1220 ad from start, it crashes at 1220 from any start era, and cannot load industrial or classical era. It seems to freeze while loading graphics. My visual studio dot net catches it, and it seems that the dump contains an error about not being able to use a referenced memory address. visual studio.net can't catch any error when it crashes in game, but only when trying to load the industrial or classical era.

Post a save here, and maybe we can see if it's a problem in the save, or in your system.

No. How come the same issue and at the place 1220 AD (with default auto save intervals), i.e. the game close to desktop in my 2 different system config (my previous system & new one) and in 3 different Graphics Cards.

Anyway, ive attached the saved file herewith. Kindly help. Lots of people in this forum has mentioned that they're facing this issue.

No, what?

Who else, apart from you and buddhahimself?

I loaded up your save and ran through the 1220 AD turn. Just moved units and chose random new builds. I had no problems during the turn, hit Next Turn and reached 1235 AD OK.

So it's not a problem in the save, and must be to do with your Civ4 installation. You said in the first post that you use no cd. Do you mean you are using a downloaded installer? If so, maybe it's corrupt.
