Gamespot LIVE gameplay

gah giant death robot is so lame a name its an insult to all civ players

We haven't played yet so it's hard to truly say. I think GDR will be rare. The ultimate point of the game is to win, not to fester indefinitely, and GDR can help break up late game stagnation. I personally find nukes to be equally ridiculous in concept (vaporizing 19 tiles) but they have a late game purpose too. GDR has a very high strength but their str vs that of other late game units isn't as radical as tank vs spearman, so it seems possible that you could wear one down with enough air and ranged power.

Anyways. I'd play it first, freak out later.

Has anyone suggested naming him Arnold?

I'm going to call it - 'My wife's Aunt Floe'

There should be a "no nukes" option when starting the game. That would make GDRs more useful...

I think their usefulness is debatable altogether, aside from providing shock and awe - to enemy forces and potential game customers ;).

I can't remember if it was this live playthrough or another but did you guys realize that the Terra maps are back!? I forgot to say anything.

This thread is awsome!!! Much better than the presentation! y'know :lol:

And I even had to drink a couple of shoots due to the "organic" & co.

Now if only that gamespot idiot wouldn't have muttered every 2 seconds or coughed into his mic every 2 seconds. 6 minutes into the thing I wanted to stab his annoying self in the face. Seriously is he that big a :):):):):):) that he wouldn't realize that we don't want to hear him nonstop. Definetly one of those people who feels they have to have a word in every few seconds even when he had NOTHING to say.

I think it was not as deliberate as you make it. People get nervous.
