Not sure if we have had one of these (and even if we did, I assume it'd be in the old OT) but, in the spirit of the topic, I feel it may be best anyways to start anew.

What's something you want to develop in yourself? Skills you'd like to learn? Perhaps you would like to appreciate a certain genre of music, or style of art?

Ask away, and if you can help direct another, harvest the karma.

I'll have some to request later, when I'm not on my phone, but until then, I'll let someone else go first.

I really wish I could motivate myself to actually start working out. I need it badly.

But that'll probably never happen.

Mr. Dictator, sir. Why have you started this thread? Like Mary Poppins, you are practically perfect in every way. :)

I've been making some progress in making my lifestyle more healthy. In the spirit of the thread I suppose that's specifically improving my cooking skills and learning to exercise properly. It's really working this time. :)

Vocabulary (English) is something I've always made an active effort to improve. I've been meaning to brush up my Spanish, but haven't been able to keep up the effort.

I've been trying to improve myself by developing a hobby in making pixel-art (as flyingchicken can attest to!).

Joy! A chance to exercise my modesty!

While I appreciate the sentiment, I must turn down your compliment.

This +1.

What's something you want to develop in yourself? Skills you'd like to learn?

Learn to dance and to play a piano are on my list.
First just for the social thing, the second more for myself. I think I can do it (at least mechanically, unlike e.g. a guitar; don't think i'd be capable of that), and being able to make at least some sort of music (and if it's just "Lady In Black") would be nice.
Both will probably not happen this year, though.

In a few years I'd also like to study a second subject. Thinking about law, history or psychology. At least one will be saved for my retiree time, I guess.

Start with running. It's a relatively low maintenance activity that's good for building discipline. I'm regularly running half marathons these days and it's been making me feel much better about myself. I used to have a sedentary lifestyle so if I can do it I'm sure you can (I am also naturally skinny and athletically built, though).

Recently I have been studying the secrets of butterflies. Once I learn their secrets I will be unstoppable. Nobody ever suspects the butterfly.

Start with walking. Or is it lying with one's arms and legs waving about, to crawling, to toddling...you get the idea?

butterflys, I'm with you there. Also bumble bees. And wasps.

Same.

I'm going to try and make it a part of my schedule once I'm at cawlej, but I doubt I'm actually going to be not-lazy enough to stick to it.

I really wish I wasn't such a stupid lazy person.

I have a friend who's always saying, "I'm not an idiot but I am stupid."
He seems to mean that he's averagely smart but keeps on making stupid mistakes. And doesn't learn from previous mistakes.

I think this applies to me. I make the same mistakes over and over, on a daily basis.

I could get depressed about this. But I find it rather amusing. How stupid am I?

or is it the other way round?: I am not stupid, but I am an idiot. Seems to work just as well.
