[RD] George Floyd and protesting while black

There are literal riot looters — people who come to protest to loot. One of them is Jake Paul, a youtuber. His brother Logan Paul went to Japan and filmed a dead body in a suicide forest to put it on YouTube for likes, and now Jake Paul is joining the looters to get some juicy footage for YouTube. These men are literal adults trying to be edgy and get money off shocking YouTube videos.

How is this country even real...

Saw a cop move his partner's knee of the neck of a restrained black person, on National TV! They're learning, finally~.

It's a good thing there's discussion in this thread that you could look for to answer your questions, then.

Okay, well if you're referring to this one I would appreciate it if you can point me at which of the 26 pages contains the answer to how those numbers compare to other police forces. Or other countries perhaps. Or if it's another thread, point me at that one please.

When it is clear that criminals are using the badge as cover, is there no obligation to remove that cover?
Not sure where you guys are getting the idea that I am somehow opposed to massive police reform and overhaul.

Stop wasting your energy yelling at the protesters and join us, then. The protests will stop when reform is made, but so far the government and cops are just acting like victims. It's fudging disgusting.

I have been on protest marches; and forgive me for not leaping at the chance to join up in protests that are seeing buildings smashed, looted, and burned. Or protests that are seeing the security services take active riot-control measures with rubber bullets where they are behaving so abysmally they have shot at clearly marked members of the press accompanied by a live television crew.
If you want to join in the protests in Minneapolis right now, literally come on over. I got space in my apartment for you to crash in and I live 5-15 minutes away from where everything is going down.
Offer stands for anyone.

With regards to the curfew, what should the governor have done after a week of nightime violence that attracted worldwide attention? Do nothing?

Fire the entire Minneapolis Police Department

Nah, the cops are not acting like victims. They're acting like an occupying army. Which, in many places in the US, they basically are.

I mean, I'm not opposed to knocking it down and rebuilding it from the ground up.

So why do you seem to be more upset about property damage than the violence from the police?
I wasn't aware I had to preface every post I make listing the many sins and vile actions of the MPD and State Troopers before getting angry at those who use legitimate protests as cover to burn local bookstores or community barbershops.

My contention is that you are fully aware of why the riots and looting are occurring but rather than place the onus and blame on those that caused the situation you instead seek to apportion blame on those that have been the victim of centuries of unending oppression, in the form of sarcastic comments that clearly belie your contempt.

Well good thing Im not from US, coz there is a lot of crap goin on now :)

But I just wonder, what people actually want? what to change?

Something to keep in mind:
everyone's news feeds are seeing different things. The people angry at the protestors are seeing different information (some of it false) than the people supporting the protestors.

We no longer live in a world where acting on breaking news quickly creates an advantage.

Moderator Action: Given the fact that this is a rather charged subject to tackle, and that tempers are beginning to fray, I am making this an RD thread. Behave accordingly, please

Still hard to comprehend how people can believe white nationalists or Russian agents are behind the violence. I've never seen Fox News or Republican governors promoting QAnon nuttery, but everyone somehow knows it's the right that promotes conspiracies.

Looting and burning minority-owned small businesses is a funny way of helping out minorities.

If you're referring to the looting, why would you assume there is an idea behind it?

More about protesting, what people wanna change? If people are protesting, making riots, that means people want something to change, so what is it ?

And US social media, giving more fuels for riots..

There are peaceful protests going on across the country. The rioters are just looking for an excuse to vent their bottled-up quarantine rage.
