Give me 18, but not on Earth - new PBEM

I kept the game file so we can use it for the "mirror game" which I will work on launching next week sometime.

There is something here I do not understand.

What is the 'game file', how was it created, and how can it be re-used to start another game?
Is there an option to produce it as a by-product of starting a game?
or is it a file you create, and can then feed it into a start process on several occasions?
Is there a linky for this, or is it the sum knowledge of many different modding exercises ?

(Back in civ3 days I could edit game starts, here I have no idea)

on the very 1st turn for the very 1st player you can regenerate the map

I love the idea of the site and so far so good. I can already give a few tweaks:

- Right now theres an edit check that doesnt allow you to load up a turn unless the Civ game name matches the PBEMtracker name exactly... this is a good feature, but I don't know that its 100% necessary. Maybe have it give a warning to alert the user that it may be the wrong game, but allow them to load anyway if need be. My second iteration of this game didn't load because of this - although admittedly I should have been more careful and it wouldn't have been an issue if I had used it ever before!

- I don't know what happens when its a persons turn, but an email sent to the sign-up address would be ideal to alert them that the turn is on them. This may happen already, i wouldnt know yet since I haven't gotten my second turn :p

But definitely don't worry about it - I love the site already and appreciate the efforts as I'm sure many others do. Its a great concept, my props to you. I may be able to organize a game like this, but if you asked me to design a website I would be as blind as a bat!

I've been using the site for some time and have on occasion chosen the wrong game or a previous turn to upload and been warned/refused. Great! I have also gotten my turn from the site when I have somehow not received it. When playing with a non-tracker whose turn is up, the next player can upload his turn after receiving the turn from the non-PBEM player by email. It worked fine that way with Ruff in the past.

Yes I understand - the official turn order has me at the end of the second day, but I needed to be first to launch the game... so the PBEM turn order starts with me at the end of day 2 and then goes to Calanthian and so on and so forth.

MICHKOV, ITS ON YOU!

Oh also - since I do sleep and work some time... feel free to self police keeping the game moving too folks... if you notice its on someone and they are on the site, send them a PM, remind them, whatever!

All I was trying to say here is that because I had errors, I kept having to set up the game over again, launch and do my first turn. I have 1 other version of the 4000BC to Calanthian that we can use for the mirror game - it had all the same settings, just a different game name (shortened)... Definitely nothing purposeful by me, just newbie inexperience. But I kept the file because we said we wanted a mirror game, so I figured we can use it for that.

OK, but that sounds different to what D!CK said...
So, if you re-open the other save, does it let you regenerate the world map ?

it seems i have problems to send PM cause i m new to the forum......... my email is gio.darin [at] gmail [dot] com

No the map was generated then started on my turn, which I took, then needed to send to Calanthian, but the game name didn't match what its says on PBEMtracker originally, so I had to do it again. Which included setting all the options, typing in names, selecting leaders, etc.

Long story short - I have another "4000BC to Calanthian" which is a different world generation and different random leaders, which we will use for the mirror game. However I can't endlessly regenerate the map or anything.

And I'm sorry to hear Calanthian got screwed by his start... Apparently the civ gods were feeling ironic last night! Ha. Hopefully his start is better in the mirror game... Mine were both average at best in both games.

I think we missed rd13's window... Although its the weekend, so let's hope everyone schedules are off.

I'm hoping the fact that its the weekend is why we couldn't stay on schedule!!!

Come on rd13 you're up!!!!

Is there a way to change the scoreboard to act like in singleplayer? That is to show civs only after you met them.

Thought I should have had my turn by now. I'll make sure to check before I go to sleep and if it's in then we should stay on track, otherwise we probably lose a day.

Relax, its the first turn of the game. As long as it keeps running there's no need for such a rush

I agree but with 18 people we need to try to keep it running as fast as possible otherwise we will only get 1 turn per week or less. I didn't do a good job communicating that the turn order didn't start with day 1 exactly. I'm hoping that error combined with it being the weekend is what messed us up and we will eventually get into a solid routine.

And I have no idea how to adjust the scoreboard only for civs we have met, not sure if that's an option.

Never seen that just with AIs. Humans always show score.
A lot of; :wow: how'd he get so many points?

I agree. At worse a day is missed, but the beauty of a time setup puts you back on schedule right away! Everyone will miss their own timeslot while even having the turn, just want to play it, and we'll have a great time of it.

I recomend headphones
Spoiler :
I'm so Sick

until my next turn:help:
