Revised Turn Order

Ok - given Bathsheba's veteran advice on early morning turns, the order has been revised. Some blocks of time are much longer than others, however bathsheba is right - moving a couple people into the early morning turns timeslot does take a lot of pressure off the nighttime turn players and this should flow even smoother. Again, right now the plan is 1 turn every 3 days - so you won't need to do this schedule every single day, just every 3.

There is still some overlap during time blocks, mostly because this is not an exact science. Also some people like Ormylar have crazy schedules but said they would go whenever they can, so his block is big and overlaps on both sides, meaning hopefully themdg before him and me after him can be flexible and adapt.

chasebolt (local: GMT -5) - GMT 1000-1500

from what i understand the difficulty level just give or take away an advantage. i believe at noble everyone is on an even playing field

The time slot you set up for me works well surprisingly. Wednesdays will be tough at the time period, but otherwise, it works for me.

I'm assuming the webpage on pbem.com will update when you start and have an upload button or something for us to use?

yes, from what I hear its easy to upload it onto the tracking page for the game and it will update itself with the status and send alerts to the email you used to sign up.

Hello everyone, please give me a little while to make a rather Epic connection between us here and a extremely long standing Civ4/Civ3 ladder group, As I mention I sent or rather posted there in hopes to fill our game and by luck Chasbolt joined and now Bartholomew Barker.

He's been here of coarse but doesn't have an account and that is certainly understandable do to the loyalty to his fellow ladder group. Not only has he been the administrator there he plays on the ladder as well so he has his own record of completed games. So please allow me help make this connection.

PS anyone who I have down as a Random leader I currently have as Alexander in the PBEM tracker because I need to have a leader for everyone in order to launch the game in the tracker. Once the game starts let me know and I can change your leader to who it actually is.

Dick - I am fine with a mirror game if everyone else is! I'll launch a second game and send it over the weekend and if it moves along like this one then great. I don't plan on adding in the color of roleplaying and narration in a mirror game though.

I asked about the World Builder thing in the newbie questions thread in general discussion, and the answer is that WB is automatically disabled in multiplayer games anyway. So it wont be an issue. Thought some of you might be interested.

1. I can often play turns in the morning (GMT), but cannot guarantee to do so. If you want to put me in a 1000-1400 GMT slot or something similar that's be fine but I may be a little later (say 1600-1700 some days). I think the rota looks pretty good atm though.

2. I've never tried it, but I assume that you can edit difficulties for humans (it would vary base happiness, health, training speed, research speed, goodie hut results, but obviously not have any of the AI effects). I may be wrong though and in any case am not sure it's a good idea to do so here as estimating everyone's levels wouldn't be objective and might just exacerbate the effects random will have.

CHASE - that was a typo, sorry about that!

Espirito - you are currently in a 1800-2200 time slot, although Michkov is before you and has a very wide range, so you may get your turn earlier than your slot. Either way tdy99 and Eclipse are after you at GMT -5 and won't get to it until at least 2100, so either way I think we are good.

The latest turn order seems to be pretty good and solid all around as long as bjkarker, Bathsheba and ParadigmShifter hit their early morning turns regularly. But they are regulars to PBEM games on here, so I imagine that shouldn't be a problem.


Overall, its looking like we are good to go with launching this game tomorrow night! I will set it up and launch tomorrow night starting with me and ParadigmShifter will have a turn ready for him on PBEMtracker first thing Saturday morning!

Less than 24 hours to launch! Anyone else who wants to join needs to get in asap... and this is a last call out to Calanthian to join... you are more than welcome to get squeezed in!

I think you should consider using the 60% water option instead of 70%.

I generated a bunch of tectonic maps and the 70% water ones tended to be very crowded with 16 civs. 70% water also leads to a bunch of isolated continents that will never meet each other until caravels.

Overall the 60% ones just seemed like they would be a lot more fun.

I tend to agree. My tests showed similar results. I have also sent emails to another 4 reliable players with the deadline. Maybe make 18...
