GodNES - The Beast with a Thousand Backs

Suddenly reminded to put orders out, but first:

Primanus is it okay if I borrow a few of your plants and animals to populate some lands that I am going to found a palace on?

Thwapp Turn 2 Orders

STATS

Deity: Thwapp
Player: Terrance888
Embodiment: Accidents and Inconvenience
Might/Realm/Patronage: 2/1/0

SPENDING

“A Shocking Prank” 1PP- Thwapp mocks Artharax by making the first thunderstorm.
“The Things” 1PP-Thwapp participates in the War for Life with crazy manipulations
"Thwapp's Imprint" 1 PP. Thwapp will interfere and "help" every other God's actions, making his own unique imprint on their works.

“A Shocking Prank”

After Artharax kept ordering Thwapp’s attempted pranks and killing off the worms he’s playing with. Thwapp is bored. So, after watching the rain, he decided he’ll play a massive prank on Artharax. Gravity makes energy when it falls, and he can use that to make a LOT of static electricity! He decided to use water, since it is easy to hold up until the time is right. By breaking the water into bits, they float until the time is right. He decided to make it a grey cloud, so it looks just like Artharax. And he decided to make it spam lighting, just like Artharax. Except when his storm thunders, instead of ordering things, it disorders things. As in, it sets stuff on fire, cooks them, blows stuff around! Great fun!

“Thwapp’s Things”

Thwapp, much more physical than Primanus, forgoes evolution entirely. Too boring! He thinks that a hard shell will block the Blight. *snaps fingers* Land coral! It takes minerals to make a hard shell around itself, while the roots can still get nutrients and selectively die off if infected. Mhm. That blight looks good enough to eat. *snaps fingers* Blight Eaters! These things are so eaty that even the eating eat eat eating everythingy blighty eating stuff gets eaten! The worms will live on blighted mushrooms and eat all the blight! Red blight is sooooo booooring. *snaps fingers* Rainbow blight! How about some yellow? And some purple? And this blight tries to eat other blight! Like, that’s cool. It’s like a rainbow on the ground! Flying worms? Bah! So borring to wait! *snaps fingers* Look, those worms can explode so fast they can fly! What do you mean die, they can pollinate just fine! I thought you’re all about life and genes and . Well, when it pollinates the flower, it also infects it with worms, which hitch a ride in the seeds!

“Thwapp’s Imprint”

The world is so big with so many things to do! I’ll make the first clouds to block the sun every once , since it’s stuck in one place, in a while for shits and giggles. This leads to the first thunderstorm! I’ll make a gigantic snowperson! I’ll make the poison mushroom tasty, so worms will keep drinking it and get weird until they pass out. Maybe die, probably not. (drunk) I’ll hide shiny things in Borog’s caves, but they won’t show light until light shines on them! I’ll stand at the edge of the Curator’s realm and try to pee/spit inside it. This will lead to it’s borders surrounded by time-frozen piss streams (at least until he cleans it up)! I'll give random worms sentience just so I can mess with them!

Milarqui: Yes, you can indeed come to embody more elements. Death would be kinda provocative to get hold of as the god of death will arrive next turn.

ChineseWarlord: The deadline is in about 10 hours from this post :)

CERADUS ORDERS: TURN TWO

Deity: Ceradus
Player: Ophorian
Embodiment: Time
Might/Realm/Patronage: 1/1/0

Spending:

The Hourglass - 1PP - To ensure the proper flow of time, Ceradus erects an infinite hourglass in his domain

The Eternal Labyrinth - 1PP - To safely house the Hourglass, Ceradus carves out a massive labyrinth beneath his mountain range

The Hourglass

An hourglass is to be constructed and the sand inside shall flow eternally. The upper half shall be replenished such that the amount above shall always be greater than that below. This hourglass shall be tied to the passage of time, not just symbolically. Should there be any disturbance in the proper flow of time, save within the realm of the Curator (which is already beyond the control of Ceradus), the sands within the glass will act accordingly, ceasing to flow, creating a storm, or in extreme cases, flowing in reverse. Oddities in the flow of the hourglass will serve as a call to action for Ceradus.

The Labyrinth

Ceradus will carve out a massive labyrinth under his mountain range. The labyrinth is perpetually changing, so one gifted with sheer luck, or prescience, will be able to navigate the maze. As Ceradus can see the future, and all possible futures (restricted to a certain time frame), Ceradus is able to see the future in which he follows the correct path, and thus knows the correct path to follow. Only the luckiest of gods will be able to navigate the labyrinth, and mortals should never even dream of attempting it.

Deity: Borog
Player: Lord_Iggy
Embodiment: Darkness and Fear
Might/Realm/Patronage: 2/2/0

The War of Twilight. 2 points.

Mountains broke, plains shattered, lands burned and shuddered as each of us strove to become the second being in existence to commit murder.

The first war between the gods is well known as a pivotal point in the early history of our world. Great effort was expended by Borog, in his struggle against his brother Solonos. His initial goal is to prevent his brother from joining the sun, but later he will seek to deal as much damage as he possibly could to Solonos and his master (the sun) or perhaps even outright kill his brother. Throughout their struggle, much destruction is wrecked upon the surface of the world. It is possible that the works of other gods may be accidentally caught in the crossfire between us.

Godfall. 1 point.

We exchanged vicious, maiming blows as we tumbled downwards. We struck the earth with terrific force, and rose again to continue our battle.

Perhaps no single greater scar was created on the world then the tremendous crater that would later be known as Godfall. Here did Solonos and Borog crash after their long fall from the skies. Long after the battle had resolved itself, the crater itself remained infused with some of the essences of the two gods. Wisps of light continued to do battle with motes of shadow in this strange, blasted landscape. Here, neither day nor night wholly reigns- instead, a partial illumination, much like that which existed before time, the rise of Solonos and the strengthening of the Sun, can be observed.

The Crepuscular Pact. 1 Point.

To Solonos, was ceded all that he surveyed, from his high vantage. The rest fell to me. I would begrudge him nothing, ensuring that everything out of his sight fell into my own realm. Thus did all material come to cast a shadow, wherever the sun could not see.

Time, that irksome creation of Ceradus, was also split between us. The sun, far brighter than it had ever been in the past, reigned over one half. Thus did Solonos become master of the day. And as the sun departed, darkness would fall with the beginning of each night.

The resolution of the Twilight War was a bitter accord between the Lightkeeper and the Shadow of Afaja. Time and space are divided between them. Time is split into an unending rotation of light and dark, thus creating day and night. Regarding space, to Solonos goes all that he can survey from the vantage point of the sun. To Borog goes all that remains, all that is subterranean or otherwise shielded from direct sunlight. Thus does Borog further secure his rule over the depths of the world, and also expand his presence more reliably above the surface. At night, he may roam freely in the open air, and even in the day he may maintain the shadows, which are now cast by all matter.

Deity: Tsamnir
Player: Bair_the_Normal
Embodiment: Balance and Opposites
Might/Realm/Patronage: 2/2/0

Erasure: 4 Points.

With the advent of war, and time, and of course the continuous annoyance of Thwapp, Tsamnir acknowledges the dire danger that the Scales are in in this current setting. As such, using all of Tsamnir's might, the Scales will forever be annihilated in their current form, and sealed away from existence, maintaining only a non-physical presence in the void of Tsamnir's 'mind'.

Arg! I just came home from a visit to family and was planning on finishing orders. Will you at least take a general guideline Angst?

Actually, I haven't started updating yet. Try to get your orders in. If you get them in before I copypaste the orders from the thread (as per my updating methodology), you'll get them in. If not, you will suffer greatly.

(This does, on the other hand, mean that Tsamnir got his orders in)

Deity: Solonos
Player: Patchy
Embodiment: Sun
Might/Realm/Patronage: 1/1/0

Action 1: Solonos fights Borog in the Twilight Struggle. The Godfall crater is created in the fight along with various other changes to the geography.

Action 2: Solonos creates a plain near Primanus' borders and starts bringing in some of the animals and plants to populate it. This will end up serving as the foundation for a mausoleum to Afaja, it is also Solonos' way of telling Borog that Afaja is dead and it is time to move on.

I've had a busy week, and it's about to inflame again. I'll do about half the update today, I expect. I think the second half will show up Thursday (and the according posting of it), but I'm not sure yet!

Bitterly did I brood in the fastnesses of my subterranean domain. Ever did my thoughts stray back to Solonos, and each time my rage was rekindled, and my grief renewed. Half of me wished to lash out, to scream in fury at the light-bound traitor. Half of me softly mourned, weeping for the path of my wayward brother.

My brother! My own brother! That was the harshest part of this fate. Never before had I encountered a being so akin to myself. Never before had I come so close to bringing an end to my isolation. I had beheld, for the briefest of moments, a kindred spirit. And then it was all ruined. He turned on me. My guard was lifted and my spirit was vulnerable, when he burned my flesh and seared my soul. What wicked irony! What cruel circumstance would have it such that my twin, my closest brother, would be born to embody my polar opposite?

And in the instant that the thought crossed my mind, I was struck with clarity. Before time, my realization would have been instantaneous, and I cursed the fact that my thoughts were slowed so by the passage of time. Why had I not seen it sooner? Solonos had appeared the instant that time began. My equal in form. My opposite in substance. Two sides of a scale, utterly in balance. It was obvious!

Tsamnir! At once, blind fury overcame me, and I exploded into a shape more terrible than any I had assumed since the conclusion of the War of Twilight. My body billowed outwards from the depths, a thousand hands furiously seizing and grasping at the air, seeking an aetherial neck to strangle. A thousand jaws gnashed at nothingness, in a futile hunt for an outlet to their vicious wrath. A deep rumble began in my core, and the world itself began to tremble, as a rising crescendo of wrath began to disentangle itself from the earth below. Outwards, and upwards, my disparate body wrenched itself through the myriad tunnels of my realm, tearing its way towards the surface.

With a terrible, ear-piercing roar, I burst forth through the surface, feeling the last light of day fading to darkness. Arms and tentacles arced across the sky, and I was nought but a great writhing snarl of rage, half-clad in a tattered cloak of shadows. My arms smashed down on the surface of the world, and I drew myself up to such a size that all of creation shook beneath my mass.

"Tsamnir!" I bellowed, and the heavens were rattled. "Two-Face! Scale-Keeper! Benighted Guardian! Reveal yourself!"

Update's only about 15% done right now, but I've managed some progress. I'll clock in when I have more news.

Update's now 1/3 done. I've summarized the events of the turn, as well as the stat changes. I still need to write it more elegantly than bulletins and edit the map. Then I'll post it.

Long did I wait, and the lilting, self-contradictory voice of Tsamnir gave me no response.

So be it.

My form blossomed outwards into a great flowing shadow, and I set off in search of a new target. I was at home in the night, and the darkness ushered me forth on a path towards my new quarry, the second primordial, the eldest of the Void-born gods. There had been a time I had held little fondness for the being which called itself Primanus, but recent events had curbed my hostility. While Primanus and his creations had at first seemed to me to be little more than a simple mockery of Afaja, I had slowly come around to accept that Primanus' joy in life and creation was genuine, and not merely a crude act of spite. I had even come to welcome life in the darkness, as individual beings now grew and crawled through many of the tunnels of the Black Delvings, providing me with some small companionship in my lonely travails deep beneath the world's surface. While Primanus' irreverence for the past remained as distasteful to me as ever, recent events behooved acts of cooperation, acts which I may not have considered before the emergence of Solonos.

I felt many small beings flitting around beneath me, and sensed that the Gardener was close. My formless countenance coalesced into a smaller, singular figure, and I approached Primanus. In the nighttime darkness, I perceived that great turtle was hunched over, tending to its creations. Sweet nectar flowed forth from its hands to feed a swarm of tiny winged creatures, who buzzed around their creator in mindless reverence.

Ah yes. Primanus, the only god brazen enough to style itself in the form of the all-father Afaja. The impudence of this gesture continued to gall me, but I controlled myself, knowing that I had far greater issues to deal with than the perceived slights of some Void-born deity.

"Hail Primanus." I spoke. The turtle turned its head to me. "Multifarious are the creations of the Gardener, and may they long prosper."

I sensed a slight smile forming on Primanus face. Perhaps it was pleased by my compliments. Perhaps it recognized them as mere cajolery.

"What do you seek, Shadow-Keeper?"

"Surely you know of my struggle with Solonos."

The smile faded.

"I know much of the War in Twilight. Many of my children perished in your conflict."

"Indeed. It is unfortunate that they were caught between us. But if you do not heed me now, many more of your children will suffer a far worse fate."

Primanus’ face turned grim.

"I am well aware of Artharax and his blight. Measures have been taken-"

"Artharax is the least of your worries. Listen to me, Gardener."

The turtle silenced itself, and gestured for me to continue.

"In the beginning, there were five of us, and the world was created from the body of Afaja. Three brothers were born of His flesh, and two others were born from the Void in which He lived. One served darkness, one served disorder, one served life, one recorded... and one balanced. Such was the way of the epoch before time. Then, three more emerged. First was Ceradus, the time serpent, and with his birth the works of Curator were thrown into ruin. The second was Solonos, and in embracing the light, I evaded destruction only through titanic conflict. Artharax, the ordered one, is similarly opposite to Thwapp. Look at the pattern, Primanus. You are next."

The Gardener regarded me with grave consideration.

"But Artharax-"

"Forget Artharax. Far worse foes await you. Consider what I have said. Ceradus... and Curator."

The turtle’s expression was unchanged.

"Solonos... and Borog."

Primanus’ brow furrowed. Inwardly, I rolled my eyes.

"Opposites, equivalent in power, balanced against one another."

At last, its eyes lit up.

"Tsamnir."

Inwardly, I relished my victory. The seed of distrust was now sown. The Gardener would tend to it, growing it into a great tree of anger and enmity.

"You are correct. The 'Guardian' stands for balance and opposition in all things. Thusfar, every primordial sans Tsamnir and yourself has been met with a terrible enemy, their equal and opposite counterpart. If he is not halted, some form of 'un-life' will soon be released into the world. I am unsure just what that entails, but I doubt that you would like to find out."

Primanus' visage was furrowed once again in deep contemplation and concern.

"Do you suppose that he would create a counterpart to himself?"

"Perhaps, perhaps not. I cannot say. It could potentially be some force which seeks to empower those which already possess great power, pushing them towards complete cosmic hegemony... but that's idle speculation. What concerns us now is the coming of life's undoing."

Primanus fell silent for some time. I too held my tongue, as I pondered my own words. Tsamnir, like Primanus, was born from the Void, born separate from Afaja. I knew not if they existed before the Demon Chelonian’s death. Had Tsamnir been responsible for the creation of the sun itself? I filed that troubling thought away for later, and returned my attentions to the god of life. The emotion on the great turtle's face was clear. Concern I saw, concern for the fate of its creations. Uncertainty too was evident from the nervous flicker of its eyes. But above all, I saw fear, the most powerful of emotions. I felt it. I tasted it. It surrounded Primanus as thickly as the deity’s now-silenced cloud of insects. It grew and grew, until it dominated the life-god's mind. At long last, the silence was broken.

"They are my children. I cannot let such a fate befall them."

"I once said the same of the primal darkness, yet now I find half the world ruled by a usurper."

The concern on Primanus' face deepened.

"Why have you told me this, Borog?"

"Because I need your help."

"So that we may stop Tsamnir?"

It took him long enough to catch on.

"Yes. He, like you, was born of the Void. We are made of different stuff, the Scions and the Aetherials. I need you to create for me a weapon which can harm a Void-born god."

"So..."

"So that we may destroy Tsamnir."

Whooo! Conspiracies and alliances abound. I have to say Iggy, your stories are a treat.
