The problem with that idea is that it's not hard to fake your age. (PrinceScamp, for example, is 105.) So you'd need to have either:
- a forum feature that looks at your age and lets you through or blocks you based on that - but you can fake your age! Or,
- the mods would have to check that no under-18s were using that forum - not just posting in it, but browsing it too! That probably isn't feasible. I think I'd rather have a closely-watched OT than see moderators distracted from OT just so you can talk about kinky sex.

While in principle I'd support such a thing, in practice there are forums out there that are so much more 'mature' than a "R-rated OT" they'll make your eyes bleed. So I don't think its popularity here would offset the headache of trying to keep the young'uns out of it.

Well, it's more that I'd like to be able to discuss more mature topics with some of the OT regulars, whom I, as a community, like.
I'm definitely not advocating full out porn, exchaange of drugs and that stuff, since it's obviously both impractical, and tarnishing, but I'd like to be able to discuss more mature things than is currently allowed in OT

An R-rated forum would turn into a giant brag-fest wherein people (we can all already guess who) with no lives brag about how much they drink, do drugs, and engage in intercourse, because they have no similar outlet in the real world. I really think it would be not only stupid but also pointless make CFC look bad.

An over 18 forum is a bad idea. If anything, it may encourage spam like above in said forum, but also outside as people will want to know what goes on in there.

That's a good point. Though frankly, the "keeping the young'uns out" issue ultimately trumps any good that can come from it.

I see no reason why the "Ask a . . ." threads shouldn't contribute to post count. We might as well get rid of PC entirely in that case.

Atleast get rid of postcount in all the non-civ related forums, that seems most obvious to me.
