Got the game

And all we would have would be consoles game. What would you like more a 100% finished game or a 90%-95% finished game with more stuff included because developers knew if there were bugs they had time to fix them after the game release?

Should not the consumer expect the product to function 100% after paying for it? Have we really become so complacent that we're happily willing to hand over payment for a product that does not function properly?

I like how each faction has its own 'personality'. Poland was almost always ready to sign for peace whenever the war didn't go their way, but Russia just wouldn't give up after I took eastern Scandinavia and Archangel.
Yeah, that does seem about right. Poland basically collapsed as soon as I grabbed what I wanted and signed away significant cash as well as a trade agreement in the peace talks. The Dutch refused to agree to peace even when I occupied all of their metropoly's farms and towns. Austria refused to give up after I captured Vienna, but I eventually got tired, grabbed Zagreb (which I couldn't hold, since another West German war was starting) and then negotiated it away in the peace talks for some agri tech and cash.

We've - consumers have - been like that for a very long time. Since ETW hits a nice balance of 'buggy but still extremely playable and quite fun' I think it's reasonable. :dunno:

Go look up how difficult it is to code program to work on the million different combinations of computers. If you want game that works 99.9% of the time (console game still have bugs but those usually are programmer's fault) then you and everyone else would need to get standardize PCs

I'm enjoying them game but God the AI is atrocious, both on the Campaign map and in battles. I've been fighting the Barbary pirates (they were the only people nearby who weren't either a major power or allied to one) and it's laughable. Their fleet (a full stack of galleys) has spent the entire game so far (~15 years) sat in port. The only time it moved was when I captured the province it was in, at which point they moved to another port. The battles are just as bad. I'm attacking them. My army's sat at the bottom of a hill, theirs at the top. They send their forces down one unit at a time. I think I lost about 50 men, while they lost almost 1000.

There is no space in my name.
Sorry, my bad.

I'd rather take the latter, though I'd propably wait until it's patched.

Publishers liek EA and SEGA care ltitle about the game and only about lining their pockets. Although yes there are things CA could have done that they didn't, and before they released the demo I could tell they were feeling the crunch. As long as good patches occour quickly it is forgiveable if it is a good game, we'll see what next week's patch fixes.

Also, there are plenty of people who have had no bugs, or almost no bugs/ctds, while others have had anywhere from a couple to a number (hard to tell when they jump onto the forums and call the waaaaambulance).

The stuff that bugs me most though and could have been fixed is the natives getting a lot of cavalry which is stupid (Cherokee and Huron didn't field much if any cavalry, I'll ket the fact that the Huron were destroyed before 1700 slide), still the AI is incapable of naval invasions and dealing with the campaign map in a proper function, and some recoloured (or just renamed) units amongst different factions.

Excellent point about no standardisation in PC rigs. You hit something I didn't think of before. Maybe it's time to standardise because MAC's don't seem to have annoying problems running games or OS's?

I've finally had a full day to play it, and so far I'm loving it. I'm far from able to play it on decent settings, but it's playing far better than I thought it would. At the moment I'm about halfway through the Road to Independence tutorials. I'm at the third one, and it's looking daunting enough that I'm glad I didn't go with my original plan to leap straight into the Grand Campaign as Great Britain

At the moment I absolutely love the grapples used in taking forts, and cavalry leaping over obstacles. It's the littlest things that keep me entertained.

Mac problems mainly come from how poorly program the OS (its not designed in anyway to handle games like Windows) and then you got the problem of not everyone needs or wants a $3000+ PC just to do email.

I like this to. I particularly like the battle animations - so far I've noticed hitting over head with rifles, stabbing, lunging, neck breaking, kicking and punching. Most of the time I totally forget about the rest of the battle and focus on watching some soldiers scrap it out.

You should see elephants climb over picket fences.

I'm playing as the Prussian's and am more prestigious than the English. I've conquered Sweden, some of the Germanic nations, most of the American south, northern part of India and the Barbary States along side with Egypt. I was making so much money from trade, I just bought regions from Poland.

So as it turns out, the AI in the gmae CANNOT launch naval invasions. Or transport troops AT ALL by navy. Rendering Britain invincible. If you are playing as someone other than Britain, Britain will not invade India unless they somehow do it by land (via Afghanistan).

They HIRED a MODDER who created one of the best AIs for Medieval 2 and they STILL can't create a campaign map AI that has half the comptence of a 5 year old.

Why has every Total War game since Rome had that problem? The ability for AI to launch naval invasions has had to be patched in all games.

Well at least they somewhat fixed it in M2 although the AI is still eratic (but at least with Stainless Steel they land full stacks, even if they disappear the turn after laying siege for absolutely no reason).

That would be adorable

I've rarely ever seen a game where an AI can do a decent naval assault.

Have you researched socket bayonets? In that case I believe they are already attached to the guns, so you don't have to fix them.
