Goz-9 Auto-workers reloaded

Ok KB, move the settler and ignore the worker's first turn. Then settle and Shift-A the worker and we are on our way :)

No fortifying workers and no pillaging after they make any funny things. We don't want the Union after us, we'll have enough enemies as is

Ok Heroes, your in.

Roster is full (kinda)

1 - Kaiser_Berger (starter and mapmaker)
2 - gozpel
3 - dl123654
4 - Sir Bugsy
5 - slaya
6 - Heroes

Kaiser Berger plays 20 turns or more if he sees it fit.

Rest of the bunch plays 10 turns, try to keep it to 24/48. If you feel a skip/swap is needed, please say so.

Btw, welcome the all of you, especially the guys I haven't met before :)

Goz - Am I in both games? How about putting me in just one of them, your choice.

4000 BC

Ok, move the settler NW, nothing of interest. Worker stays put.

3950

Chichen Itza founded. We seem to have a nice amount of jungle nearby :D I rename our initial :smoke: addict and send him on his way. Good for him, he goes to the BG.

I start us on max towards Alphabet.

3900

Pedro starts a road.

3800

Pedro starts irrigating :crazyeye:

3650

Our exploring warrior has spotted borders already.. Yikes.

3600

Pedro walks across unroaded tiles to get to a tile of equal value

3500

We meet India. He's up his starting techs on us. We have ours to trade as well. I trade him Masonry for Alphabet and 9g. Start on Writing.

3450

We have gems nearby, looks like we may be on a Peninsula.

2900

We meet China in the west. He lacks Alphabet. We get Braonze Working and 8 gold for it.

2630

We meet a Russian scout. They lack Alphabet. We get Warrior Code, but have to toss in 20g. At least we can build our UU now.

Summary

We have a gransry in CI and a settler due in 5 turns. I think we're going to need to go with some fairly tight spacing to make this one alright. I'll leave the dotmap to someone better suited to such things. We have a lot of jungle to deal with. I think we'll want an early war against India, definitely before they get Jumbos. Incidentely, India and Russia were two of our closest neighbors in Goz 5. How quaint

At least our workers will have something to do while their not improving our good land

By moving in I figured we could queeze a couple first ring cities on the coast. Don't get me wrong, I tend to settle for the coast often too. In this case however I think we'll benefit from being able to fit in a couple extra cities there as we're gonna be packed in nice and tight.

Ah, this is a true challenge!

I honestly don't see any safe method to win. Are we going to build GLib? Hope is little. God knows how many turns our cigar addicts will spend to clear the dear jungles. We have trouble in determining the position of even the 2nd city.

Maybe the most sensible way is to build a city with walls, declare and defend. But it might flip, -- India is strong at culture. This start is really hard even without variant, and now it's going to be crazy. :D

Yeah, this one won't be easy, thats for sure. At least we have one fairly short front to defend. We'll need to pump out some javs and give a quick strike on India a chance, provided we have no iron. We do have some hills to claim though, os we may get lucky yet. Don't count on it though

Yikes, we're almost blocked in already  And we have a granary?

A couple of settlers early would've helped, but then, the land around us is pretty awful.

I play on and see what happens. We might have to play it as a squeeze game, just plop down towns where we can. (the idea with this is that we can replace towns later, if we're lucky in wars) But first we need something going before India claims all land.

Gems has to be ours or we have to restart, I think.

I got it.

Btw, Bugs only have time for one game and he's on the other. We have 5 players anyways.

I'll agree, he granary was an iffy move. I wasn't totally confident with it, but heck, we've got it now, guess we have to live with it. If this one doesn't work out for whatever reason, I still have the other starts, so a redux can be quickly accomplished.

We will have great trouble in connecting resource ... If this one fails (not very unlikely, en?), we might try India, for its resourceless UU! :D Certainly jav doesn't need resource too, but I doubt how much benefit it can get.

Pre-turn - This looks fun, one city and lots of jungles. Pedro mined 2 grasslands and irrigated 2 BG's :)

We have met India, China and Russia so far, no deals available at this stage.

2510BC - Indian warrior kills something, can't see if it's barbs or anything else.
Bubba spots pink borders.

2470BC -We meet the Arabs, they know Maths.

2430BC - Granary takes effect, now we have to kick out settlers as fast as we can.

2390BC - Nothing.

2350BC - CI - settler -> settler. Send the settler N-ish to a banana.

2310BC - Nothing.

2270BC - Worker decides to start improving a hill

2230BC - Worker walks over the first hil and go to next?

India got a slave, they must be in war with China, since Mao's border shrunk.

2190BC - Worker starts roading the second hill, what was wrong with the first one?

My thoughts were true, scouting warrior finds the remains of a razed city.

Settler founds Copan by the bananas, ideally I would've settled by the coast, but we can squeeze in another town 2 NW by the fish. We will need as many small towns as we can get here. Start worker in the new town.

2150BC - CI is back to pop 5, settler due next turn. He should go to the hill NNW (blue dot). That new town can use one roaded/mined grass for a while, so warrior -> worker there should be ok.

We have 14 turns left to Writing at with 8 gold in the kitty. Noone knows it yet and lets hope it stays that way. And please, do NOT research with negative income. KB worked hard to get us that granary and we don't want to lose it by a demand.

I'm not sure where to place a town by the white dots, any thoughts?

*Remember, SHIFT-A when you build a new worker*

It's not a problem to run negative gpt. When someone demands, we can click the diplomacy advisor and then click F1 to adjust sliders. -- A lesson from LK100. :-)

It took 100 LK-games to figure that out? :crazyeye:

Well, it is news to me.

A city in white dot is very dangerous to flip ...

Save

Not much happened this turnset.

The worker roaded and started to mine that mountain.

A second worker built near the end just walked to the forest square he is on now.

The first settler settled the lower white dot.

The second settler walked to the blue dot, will settle next turn.

Finished writing, started Philo at max last turn.

There is still some trades out there if we want to give away writing.

Nice and quiet, that's how we like it right now :)
