GOZ3 -(Totally Barbaric)-C3C

No worries about furniture over here :)

The save

Pre-turn - Teleportation ON. I leave the other suggested things as akots left them.
2070bc? Someone pinched a couple of turns, but as I'm a good guy, I say right away:
If you want to play 5, 10 or 15 turns, that's up to you. 12 is also fine :)

Send the waiting settler N.

2030bc - For reasons unknown the people place a lawn in front of our palace.

Leptis Magma borrows the game for a turn.
Curragh spots gems E of Rome, SE of the choke.

Roman settler pair near Utica

I decide to give Pottery and 71g to Romans for IW.
Then IW and CB to England for Wheel and 28g.
We have Iron near Carthage, but no horses.
Sell the Wheel to Rome for 108g, they have a scouting warrior moving towards England. (Hope your blood-pressure is under control akots :))

1990bc - Utica worker -> worker
Carthage pop 5 and luxtax up to 20%

Hitties knows Writing! Take that and 10g for the Wheel.
Research Philo at 80% - 16turns.

1950bc - Theveste founded -> warrior

A roman warrior walks in next to Utica, is he just enjoying the scenery or up to bad stuff?
Cover worker with warrior.

1910bc - Carthage settler -> settler

Roman warrior walks away, spot another roman settler pair moving to coast W of Utica

I revise my dotmap and send settler to build on dyes, 3 tiles from Carthage, to have grasstile in range.

Science 90% and luxes 10, Philo in 11 turns.
We're up Writing on all our neighbours on our continent, we're up IW on Hitties.

1870bc - Up luxes to 20%, we need MP in Leptis Magma!

1830bc - Utica worker -> temple.
Hippo founded on dyes -> warrior

1790bc - England are building Colossus

1750bc - Carthage settler -> settler
Theveste warrior -> worker. Sent the warrior to LM for MP.

Germany are blocking the choke quite effectively, with 2 spears.

Ah well, I play a couple of turns more even if it's 1750bc :)

1725bc - Worker will connect Dye-city next turn

1700bc - Curragh goes on suicide trip and spots light blue borders!

1675bc - Rome is building the Pyramids! Goodie!

Galley survives, we say hello to Spain, they are backwards and have 5 cities.

Leptis Minor founded -> worker
Join german worker into Leptis Magma, Collossus in 34.

Rome knows HBR

1650bc - Carthage settler -> settler
Hippo warrior -> worker

Germany are building Pyramids too.

Philo is due in 2 turns.

I left a settler ready to walk.

Don't forget to switch the irrigated deer between Carthage and Leptis Magma every second tur. Lots of MM but well worth it!

2 spaces north of utica 2 workers are clearing a marsh. There is a settler in position there also. Wait untill the workers are done next turn and settle a city there. We have run out of room for cities so we should start gearing up for war with Rome.

I've got my beer and popcorn ready this one! Good luck guys!

Good settling! IMO, there are places for 5 or 6 more productive cities left around the core and 2 or 3 may be 4 in the marshes. But thinking of war with Rome is a good idea.

I see lots of worker and warrior builds. Excellent!

As akots said, we can squeeze in a few more cities around. If for no other reason than commerce and unit support.

A dozen swords and maybe a few Nums if we want GA should take care of most of Romes cities, which we like parasites take over or fill in if we raze :) Since we are Barbaric, we should just raze and mow, and maybe get a few slaves.

I have a feeling this will be pretty tough, but great fun.

ok, let's get this one rolling along again :) action awaits us! (well... not this turn, but soon)

edit: dooh! forgot the .save (1150BC)

Preflight check: notice Carthage needs only 2 food to grow but is making +6fpt. MM Carthage off cow and game and onto BG's (barracks in 4T vs 7T @ 7spt). MM Leptis Magna onto game to get pop growth in 3T vs 5T. MM Theveste to get extra gold. MM Sabratha onto mined river grass for growth in 6T vs 12T.

T1: 1375BC
Theveste worker -> barracks; Oea founded, set to warrior

Tech notes: England up Math, Rome up HBR, everyone else is behind

T2: 1350BC
Sabretha warrior -> barracks; MM Leptis Magnu off game and onto BG (growth due in 1T)

T3: 1325BC
Utica temple -> walls; Move Carthage warrior to Leptis Magna to handle growth-happiness issue

T4: 1300BC
Carthage barracks -> settler; MM Carthage and Leptis Magna between game.

T5: 1275BC
Hippo: worker -> barracks; MM Carthage and Leptis between game

T6: 1250BC
MM Carthage and Leptis between game

Tech notes: England and Germany up HBR + Math, Romans and Spain up HBR

T7: 1225BC
adjust Sci slider, Lit due in 1T

IBT: Learn lit, research Poly (figuring we are going for Monarchy and the AI is not helping right now)

T8: 1200BC
Carthage settler -> warrior (MM to get in 1T); Change Leptis to GLib and MM all around to maximize growth & spt. Rusicade warrior -> temple (very slow, may want to change)

T9: 1175BC
Carthage warrior -> warrior; Utica walls -> barracks; Leptis Minor worker -> worker

T10: 1150BC
Carthage warrior -> warrior (can be reset for settler now or next turn); Hadrumetum founded -> temple; Oea changed to a barracks since Carthage is pumping out 1 vet warrior per turn now.

Notes:
- There is a trade deal with England possible: Math & HBR & 162g for MM. Hittites have MM so now may be the time to start trading it.
- Carthage is now a 1T warrior factory. It can be sent back to a settler factory this turn if desired. imho, it should be allowed to continue building warriors, getting ready for the great sword upgrade. we'll need lots of gold for this so maybe Poly needs to be done at min. (+30gpt). right now it's at 70% but maybe the group should decide right now so we don't waste more beakers

well, i only added 1 more city so please don't shoot me :D (i also didn't mess with the preferences, they are how i got them :) )

grahamiam - "MM Carthage and Leptis between game"

Thank you :)

akots, all you really can do right now is to continue the build-up. I know you would love to whack them red! :)

Patience is important now, until it's my turn :)

OK, got your point, it is indeed too early. However, if they try to extort something ... mightly Carthage never bowed to Rome ...

Overall, IMO, this is symbolic start. Either we crush them or go down to them. On Emperor, I think, Ceasar is doomed. Especially if we stop that tech trading. Their coming to Republic or Monarchy must be delayed.

IMO, we just turn it off. 10% is a good piece of cash. We'll get everything we need from our Library. Just need the contacts. Accelerating tech pace is not in our best interest.

Yep, violently against the players "normal" orders...turn it down!

Really, what do we NEED to know now?

Suck on that, mate.
