Graphics Modification Requests Thread

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could take part of the Portugese Feitoria. The structure on top of the ducks could make a nice castle/palace building. If it hasen't been done yet, is it possible to do it?
 
I've done it. The shape of the shadow isn't perfect, you could try to improve on it by your own. You'd have to edit the alpha channel, which looks like a grey-scaled something. Anything that is black on the alpha channel, will be transparent. The lighter an area gets, the more opaque it is. I didn't try the modell in-game, but since I just removed the docks, there should be no serious bugs. Maybe the shadow flies around or the building stands to deep in the ground. You could improve on this using nifskope. It's pretty much forward. Select the part you want to edit, right click at it and pick transform. Increase the value at z to move the object up- or downwards.
There's one major problem, though: the building has no ground level. If it stands on a hill, you'll see a gap here and there, this ways. A simple way to fix this, is mirror the whole building and move the mirrored copy downwards, but that's ugly and won't work at the stairs. There's a more professional way, but I'd have to texture the additional faces and I hate texturing. Maybe I come back to this some day...

Does someone knows how to convert models from Google's 3D warehouse into .nif?

I think it's been done already with a few theatres. Now I would like to have one of those two models:

I'll incorporate the Louvre's pyramid available in this forum in the model and retexture it. The result should be a really nice looking museum.

You can convert google 3d warehouse modells, but it can be frustrating. Anyways. Install blender, the nif plugin (see Ekmeks tutorial about leaderhead for more information about how to set up Blnder till this point) and a plugin for collada (.dae) files. Download the collada version of your building, import it in Blender, simplify it (reduce poli count etc.) and export as nif. Well, that sounds simpler then it is. I can't serve with more details as I personally don't use Blender. One last hint: I don't think the building you've suggested is a good choice. The shape is simply problematic. You'd have to shrink it to make it fit into a leaf and then it would stick out pretty much. Also, it's square-like and would require something like a 3x3 or 4x4 leaf. Those tend to be outside of the city and then crop with hills etc. Try to choose something easier for your first approach.

Can someone please create a Warren G. Harding (29th U.S. President) and Calvin Coolidge (30th President & V.P. under Harding). They are the only other presidents other then Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan that I like, but are not leaderheads yet.

This is a weird request and im not even sure its possible.
I have been playing civ4 colonization on an under-min-specs machine (with an old geforce 2 mx/mx 400), and the game runs fine except for terrain and water textures.

All terrain textures are completly white (only the pure terrains tiles, I can see resources and such), and water tiles are completly black.

I was wondering if I might try hacking away with some lightining setting in the 3d model files, or even some graphic pack with extremely simple terrain textures, pretty much just anything that will make it possible for me to tell the difference from jungle to hills and such. Even plain colored tiles and nothing more would work.

Sorry, I know im pushing it, and yes I need a new computer,

This is the wrong section here, Colonization has it's own modding section ;).
And there should be a graphics mod for Colonization be available, called "Blue Marble"...wait..here. Try it, maybe it helps (not sure).
 
can anyone point me to some graphics usable for a execution place? i'm searching for a execution scaffold but any other execution/torture place will work too.

if there is nothing like that... well then it's a request i guess.

You could search on google warehouse. If you search for the phrase "Caravanserai" there, it'll return 4 results. Two of them look okay, although their propotions don't look promising. Still, maybe you could edit them a little.
