Graphics Modification Requests Thread

As a completely random guess, you could try looking up this tags that contain the word Modern and than replace them with the equivalent one from an earlier age. (the ones whos difference in name is only the word Modern)
 
If you just change the Modern and Future techs to Industrial in the TechInfos file, your cities will never change. You won't get the splash screen saying you've entered those eras, but I'm pretty sure that's entirely cosmetic.

Now that sounds MUCH simpler than how I was doing it. :blush:

Next question, of course, is where is the TechInfos file? I'm still searching, but haven't found anything yet...

Out of curiosity, why do you want to "freeze" the graphics in the industrial era?
The more so since unit graphics will still show as modern units...
 
I am not sure if this is the correct place to request this, but is there any way someone can compile these into their respective Gamefont.tga and Gamefont_75.tga files? I have included the alphachannels as well but I have no idea how to set an alpha channel up (although I'm pretty sure this was done correctly). It is for a mod where I am adding a bunch of new religions and I'm just hoping someone can help me get this to work.

I have included four files, two for the regular gamefont.tga (A regular file and an alpha channel), and two for the gamefont_75.tga (a regular file and an alpha channel). Sorry if the terminology is wrong, but I basically just learned this stuff. I have also attached an image showing you what I have in case it is confusing.

I guess you can tell by the confused request how lost I am with this, so any help at all would be really appreciated. Thanks. :goodjob:
 
Yeah, I need to get this to work because its crashing the game at the "Initializing Fonts" or whatever position, which is right at the end of the loading process. So I really NEED to get this request taken care of. I tried it again and it didn't work. I took a look at if in GIMP and this is what it looked like.

Notice the pink lines under the symbols, I don't think those should be there and that probably has something to do with why it won't work. Can anyone help me out on this?

EDIT: mamba made one for me, but it still doesn't work necessarily. There is no more CTD, but now the symbols are messed up in-game. CLICK HERE for the post in my thread that has the screen shot and the latest files. Thanks in advance to anybody who helps me with this.

If the gamefonts are f***** up, then you're f***** up.

For your current problem:
I think, in the _75 version the alpha channel from the symbols last 2 religions is maybe a bit unprecise, should maybe be a pixel more.
And you should try, if all the other symbols work.
One time, i had not really separated two symbols, and then they've showed up both, which also lead to these strange effects.

Ugh... not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the advice.

Why did they make this part so difficult? And probably a better question; why did they make this part so difficult AND leave empty slots obviously there for mods/scenarios? Bastards!

EDIT: if you look at that image I posted last, see the two Celtic Symbols? (they are green, and look Celtic), well in game when I played those appeared as the Celtic symbols. The Opera mask as the regular religion symbol and the Hit Single symbol as the Holy City logo. This was only on the cities, next to my name it had the proper symbol. I guess what I am asking is; does this show us where the mistake may be? Maybe I moved the line down too far or something, and secondly does this show that at least ONE of my gamefont files are correct (since it showed up properly next to my name)?
 
You could just use an existing GameFontsTGA as a base. The one in Thomas's War seems to have most of the same religions you do. That would reduce your cutting and pasting. I use gimp 2.2 with tga and dds plug ins so I don't know about alpha channels. I just know that if it started in some other form such as DDS you can't save it as TGA and expect it to work; you have to either draw it in TGA (massive opportunity to make stray marks) or cut and paste it from tga. But what you could do is use an existing file with most of what you want, then just carefully cut and paste the first corporations to the end (make sure and rearrange them in the info) and then cut and paste your new icons in where the corporations were--or better yet copy and paste so you can paste over them so you don't miss. And if you really want to be picky you can erase around the edges and try to get rid of most of the old icon you pasted over.

Huh, why would you need to make them modular ? The font should not force you to do that. Plus, modular is not a problem, it is easy :)

That's because I added the Religions to the mod I'm working on, so in order for him to test them I would have to upload the mod (which would take two hours) or I could just whip up a modular version so he could plug it into his game easily.
 
Hi folks , need some help here. I recently added some religions; greek myth , zoroastrianism , pesedjet , shinto , wakan tanka and popol vuh. Edited the gamefonts and they worked but when I choose one of these new religions as my state religion their icon doesn't show up next to my civ's leadername in the lower right corner of the screen. The original religions show up when I make them my state religion , but not the new ones.

The examples are below , where the first one has christianity working it shows next to my civ's leadername. The second one I convert to greek myth but it's icon does not show
up next to the name. What have I left out or gone wrong?:confused:

The other attachment didn't seem to load here it is , the original religions , in this case christianity's icon shows next to the leaders' name.
 
I am a noob so sorry if it has been allready asked.

I would like to find a mod where map will be more realistic(less cartoony style), where there will be better globe mod(like a map, with no clouds and clearer borders)

and very important, i would like to erease border lines on the sea? in main interface and on the tiny map. Borders look sliily there and one can not distinguish continent shapes

Yes I have , but I did a little experiment , I deleted the 2 buddhist icons from the original set of religions in both gamefonts and game fonts 75 , even their alpha channels(I backed up the original).

The buddhist icons now don't show for the city , but they show for everything else , so this has lead me to believe it's not a gamefonts problem.
