H. Capac (Industrious-Deity series)

I thought it was quite clear. Finish a technology, begin building a unit allowed as a result of the new technology by working a tile.

What are you struggling with?

Darn... I never looked at what turn is was, so I didn't understand how you would be able to save 3 turns worth of hammers somehow and pass it to the next build.... never mind my mind...

;)

Come on Obsolete, given current games, you should have all but finished this one and started 2 more by now!! You can't keep leading us on like this. :)

Did you pop fishing from a hut?

No, if I did I would make a note of it.

have you done any deity games where you win a straight up domination/conquest victory? these peacemonger victories just don't seem right to me.

Hmm, I don't think I've heard the term PeaceMonger before, but I guess it's a decent describer. I'm just not sure what doesn't exactly seem right...

I try to avoid domination/conquest when it's not needed. And since it's usually not needed.... well...

Speaking of updates, when are you updating your deity game? :mischief: It's finished, correct?

Yes, I just like to spread the write-ups now into 100 turn batches. I'll post some more later on today.

Not you dude. DMOC.

Space race is fine, but I have an innate dislike for UN/AP/cultural victories. It just seems extremely weird to me when some pathetic civilization with 3 cities, no army, and medieval technology suddenly becomes ruler of the world, just because everyone else likes them or they built a bunch of cathedrals. A human player would wipe out such a civilization without a second thought.

I used to play nothing but MP when I first started this game years ago, hence, anything other than war is just ZZZZzzzzzz boring =/. If I was unable to War and it was nothing more than a peace building game I would definitely stop playing.

Turn 100-110
Spoiler :
f_turn110m_ba716f4.jpg

At turn #102 we lost the race to the Parthenon... well what else is new! At least we got some decent gold thanks to the marble.
Next turn we ran into Boudica, who is already at -1 for heathen religion.
Anyhow, the super-speed of these wonders getting complete is still just shocking... TGL already lost before 500 BC !
Turn #109 we run into Willem, well this may explain some of it...

Turn 110-120
Spoiler :
f_turn120m_200f4fa.jpg

We can’t resist taking the -2h penalty for Herbalist event.
Turn #115 we at LEAST are able to complete a national wonder. But God help us with the world-wonders...
We also pop a scientist, time to set up an academy.
Then, we settle another city, off on an island in order to grab a couple sea-food resources.

Next thing that happens, is someone already completes the AP under Jewdiasm.

Turn 120-130
Spoiler :
f_turn130m_20473c9.jpg

We were beelinging after Music, but the bad news is... we ended up losing that race too! So no free artist. Grrrr!!!!!

Well what the hell now. I ended up working on the Sistine Chapel, despite how bad things seem to be going here. I’m due to finally hit something right soon enough...
We end up waiting a bit and then trade Music to Boudica. This shouldn’t hurt us as she is not industrious, doesn’t seem to have marble, and we have a head start on her.

Turn 130-140
Spoiler :
f_turn140m_5856664.jpg

We found Legendary IV city. Now the question is, which of our four cities on our homeland will NOT be the one we aim to go for cultural?
We end up popping a scientist.

And then, another utter tragedy. Soon after giving Boudica Music, she ends up completing Sistine Chapel on us!

???

Murphies law, she had what, 1% chance to pop a GE right then and there... and she pops it, then finishes the Chapel and we’re still left wondering what the hell just happened, we tried to time everything so right, and everything has blown up in our face this game... so wrong...

Absolutely every wonder trial has been a disaster, this is like some insane game out of the twilight zone. So sick..
Only thing else worth mentioning, is we end up meeting Catherine. And we are having failure problems with our missionaries trying to spread religions.

Turn 140-150
Spoiler :
f_turn150m_d8a6167.jpg

Nothing worth noting but civic switches.

150-160
Spoiler :
f_turn160m_4e3f8f2.jpg

Another silly random event hurts us...
But at least we pop an engineer.
And then we find out, we lose Liberalism Race to Willem... Well I figured that is what next would go wrong... But since I was aiming for culture victory, I’m not going to fret over it.
Then Boudica comes asking me for a defense pact, even though she’s upset I’m under a different religion. Hmm!

Turn 160-170
Spoiler :
f_turn170m_d75e166.jpg

Khan gives us a free tech.
Catherine proves world is round.
Then Willem completes the Kremlin... well all the power to him.

Turn 170-180
Spoiler :
f_turn180m_7b2f2b5.jpg

We ended up switching to Free Speech. No point at all in trying to go after more wonders or anything else and fail yet again. The build times on this map are just too sick... it’s just one of those deity games where there’s nothing you can do about it.
Anyhow, a shot of our city stats before we do the revolt.
And then my own ally Boudica comes and DEMANDS liberalism. Gee, thanks for the support...

Turn 180-190
Spoiler :
f_turn190m_441bdbc.jpg

Get this! Boudica didn’t even have Liberalism yet during the later part of the last turn-set, but somehow, she already completed the SoL on turn #181????
JUST.... SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am dumbfounded by every AI this game popping nothing but GE’s every turn and rushing wonders. There is just absolutely no other possible explanation how this can occur.
Only thing else worth mentioning is the National Sports League quest came up...

Turn 190-200
Spoiler :
f_turn200m_16fdcbf.jpg

I finally decide to found a city near that iron resource I popped in the South-West. I wasn’t eager to rush to it before, as you can see it simply has no food.
We end up popping an Artist this turn. And for once, I really don’t care that we got an Artist, haha.

Also, Willem already had put the last hammer into Broadway before 1330 AD.
Jesus, this shows what can happen when you fail to properly wonder-deny. It just spirals out of control...

IND is not doing you a lot of favours on this one at present. One question, as you are IND do you in effect get double the gold you would on missed wonders?

Never won a Cultural Victory, so looking forward to seeing how you would go about this, always assumed it was a case of mass religion spreading, SC and Sushi if you got that far. Given that the SC has gone, is it going to have to be Sid's. I suppose with it being a high water based map defense should be a bit easier if you stop teching and just go on the slider.

Just a reminder guys that this game is already won. :hammer:

Also, wow. Kremlin in 1000 AD.

Already won? I know he said he has finished, never said he won ;)

he won. Quote from the Qin game:

Alright guys, I ran a 3 hour session last night with HC, and we were able to pull it off, timed right down to the last. Interesting thing is, the whole start ended up in total disaster... absolute disaster, but we still pulled through. Which leads me to believe either that was a fluke game, or cultural is also too easy, even for standard.

You do get the extra gold. It's not double, though.

Yes, sorry for the long delay guys. Had a lot of tax papers burried over me, and other time constraints so I avoided doing the quick write-up despite having the images on the hard drive for over a month here (or has it been longer?). So... back down to business!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Turn 200-210
Spoiler :
f_turn210m_766119a.jpg

We switch to free-speech and pop another great person.
Near the end of this turn-set we finally run into Churchill and his vassal Washington. But before that, Willem completed the Pentagon on us already before 1470 AD!
Anyhow, they are fighting vs Kublai at the moment.

Turn 210-220
Spoiler :
f_turn220m_eac8b57.jpg

We pop another great artist.
And nothing else happened.

Turn 220-230
Spoiler :
f_turn230m_bb0f7f8.jpg

Another Great Artist pops.
We make a defence pact with Catherine, but before that, we see Cristo and Eiffel are already gone. This is bad...

Turn 230-240
Spoiler :
f_turn240m_de80ae9.jpg

I think I popped another GA.
Also, I ended up founding City Gobbler. I was hoping to get around 9 cities to get some more cathedrals set up in case I needed them.

Also, on the next turn I was notified that Hollywood was already built.... Grrrrrrrrrr.

Turn 240-250
Spoiler :
f_turn250m_5f5b46f.jpg

We pop another GA.
Willem completed the Internet before we even got out of the 1600s... Are you !@#$%!% kidding me??
We end this turn-set by getting one of those useless and silly Greed quests.

Turn 250-260
Spoiler :
f_turn260m_3cc776e.jpg

We pop another great artist.
And then we capture a barb city.

Turn 260-270
Spoiler :
f_turn270m_0bb409e.jpg

Nothing much happened.
But look, we finally get a visible count-down till legendary day. Only 99 more turns to go :P Looks like Willem totally screwed up in this category. What a waste, but then again, that’s the AI, it’s just so incredibly stupid.

Turn 270-280
Spoiler :
f_turn280m_b11d423.jpg

We pop another GA.
Catherine finishes her Docking Bay.

Turn 280-290
Spoiler :
f_turn290m_769104f.jpg

I finished 2 more cathedrals in the capital.

Turn 290-300
Spoiler :
f_turn300m_4a6a611.jpg

Catherine backstabs Churchill.

Anyhow, as you can see I experimented with a few cottages around Legendary III city as a sort of test to see how it could fair for culture victories. Unfortunately it’s sort of useless to me and won’t even be one of my 3 culture cities. All this did was severely hurt me when I could have been doing something much more productive with that city instead of using it as a silly bench-mark.

And yet, I still haven’t finished putting up the last few images to this game after a number of months even still. I finally want to get this out of the way now, as I don’t really play Civ IV anymore and I don’t know when or if I ever will again. So here we go… the last tid-bits for this series.

Turn 300-310
Spoiler :
f_turn310m_f2bbbbd.jpg

On turn 303 I gifted a city to Kublai it seems. I guess I was trying to make him more happy with me just to prevent any complications. There was no need holding onto that city anymore.

On turn 310 we had the new elections for Secretary General. It’s of no concern to us.

Turn 310-320
Spoiler :
f_turn320m_4448d4b.jpg

Some backstabbing went on around 315, with Churchill and his vassal Washington getting dowed on by Catherine.

We also popped another GA during this set.

Turn 320-330

Spoiler :
f_turn330m_82f94a8.jpg

On turn 325 Willem shot off his space-rocket. I was keeping an eye on his completion during the process but wasn’t too worried because unless he’s smart enough to attack me, it isn’t going to arrive on time. And since the AI is too incompetent to do such a simple thing, there really is nothing to worry about.

And by the way, he STIL shouldn’t have launched this soon. The space-ship-builds screen shows him as not even having the tech yet to even start a critical part, even after his launch, so it seems the game has bugged up yet again at this stage. Luckily it’s not going to be a game-breaker though.

Also, looks like Catherine just vassaled her two adversaries.

On turn 326 I got the Best Defense Quest. Wow! I guess we can’t lose with that one! Time to build all castles in year 1906...

On 330 my Legendary II city actually became Legendary for real.

Note: I got a repeated alert for a few turns of Willem launching his space-ship a few times. No what the hell was going on there?

Turn 330-333
Spoiler :
f_turn333m_53b56e2.jpg

On turn 332 our Legendary IV city becomes legendary for real. I starved it down a bit to turn more artists but it was starting to cut things very close the way Willem bugged up with his earlier than he should have space-launch.

Then one turn later this happens. Our first cultural-victory. Or at least in many years since I can remember. In fact I don’t’ remember the culture-victory movie, but unfortunately that ended up bugging up on me too and stopped playing after the first few frames for some reason. Grrr!! I got gipped.

Welp, at least it was something new…

May I ask what you are playing now (if you're playing), I am looking for a new game, starting to get a bit bored with civ, considereing a break :)
