Who is it????

edit: bet you a million bucks it'll be a Latin American Cardinal.

I don't care who it is, as long as the media stops to talk about this everyday and returns back to real news. Seriously, I understand why this is important to a lot of people, but I'm trying to watch the damn news here! ;)

Don't watch the stuff, but isn't there supposed be an audience vote?

oo found some odds
Cardinal Francis Arinze (Nigeria): 3-1 (fav)
Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Germany): 9-2
Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger (France): 5-1
Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi (Italy): 7-1
Cardinal Carlo Martini (Italy): 7-1
Cardinal Claudio Hummes (Brazil): 8-1

To be fair, I do hate reality shows.

I hope they elected a conservative european pope so the world could see how obsolete this institution is. We don't need more religious fervor in this world, especially by the catholics.

I am wondering what name will be chosen.
I like Bob.

I missed the smoke. I was hoping to be able to see history. Damn. I just had to take a shower... :(
CNN's got a smoke cam. :crazyeye:

Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi (Italy): 7-1 Would be my bet.

Cardinal Ouellet: 60-1
Cardinal Turcotte: 80-1
:salute:

But given how quick the election was, I'm guessing it wasn't either of them, both being touted as "compromise" candidates possibly to be selected in the case of a standoff between more popular papabiles.

Its like Survivor, they went to an island, and only one came out the winner. Only we dont get to see what happens on the island, or the voting. Sounds like a pretty sucky show actually:p

Marine, stop washing yourself and you can still catch the new Pope walking out on the balcony:goodjob:

And I'm glad!
We don't need a pope from Québec to bring us back to the dark times before the Quiet Revolution. Turcotte and Ouellet are conservatives morons and are almost irrelevant in today's Québec. I don't want this to change.

Im sticking my neck way out and going with a Cuban Cardinal. So they could conquer communism there, like they say they did in Poland;)

Yeah, think of the amount of money they could have raised if they'd sold the rights to a production company. Someone could have added a bit of drama into this.

Really? I was under the impression that at least one of them (Ouellet, I think), was rather liberal.

I shouldn't tell you guys this. But it is me.

I'm fitting my new outfit right now, I'll wave to you guys on the balcony so you know I'm not lieing. :D

Oops, need to go.

drama is easy to add. i read somewhere that any cardinal caught talking to an "outsider" about this whole thing gets excommunicated from the church. talk about drama.

now that would be a "real" survivor type show.

hope they get around to announcing who it is already. i hope its someone that no one even though about, some backwater nobody.

Ouellet has called the Quiet Revolution a mistake and thinks it went too far regarding the place religion should take in Québec. He's also very vocal against gays and civil unions, separation of Church and State and centralization of the Church (under his guidance).
