Hammer of the North v2 PBEM

King Sven we're chocked about two things. First of all, a French war galley blocked the way into and outo the English Channel, thus causing us delays in our pickup of the settlers in Normandy. Hopefully this is just a temporary blockade.

King Olav also request that merchant wessels are able to pass through the Channel to help build up peacefull relations.

Yeah, except the last version never really got playtested! What sort of changes/mods you making? I really love the scenaio!

Just have to wait some time still. I will open a new thread when the update is ready.

@ anglo-saxons:
I'm not happy at all, in fact king Sven is furious, that you ignored our statement.
There will be no trade between us from now on. And no english ships in Danish waters. :mad:

No special actions this turn.

Resending offer to Germans.
As far as I remember you just have to leave the city square. Then it should be ok. I would though be more than willing to gift you back any units accidently joining my nation.

@Bo:
Sounds good. A chainmail/men-at-arms should be at least 30-40% completed (don't recall), being built by the city barracks (veteran). If you'd like, for a little more gold (obviously :) ), I'd be willing to destroy all those Chieftain Barbarians lurking about entrenched around the city sphere while you build the city defense troops (I do not know if these barbarians will instantly start migrating towards an 'empty' city)??? And again, please simply email me (direct) the offer/payments, as no need to clutter up the 'public' scene with our dealings on this matter...

Fair enough. If that's the way you want it. If I see a Danish ship or trader or other unit in "English waters" (whatever I decide those to be at the time), they will be immediately destroyed....

You brought it upon yourself by ignoring my post..

Anyways, here's the turn. Game on guys.

Hammer of the North v2.81 is ready!

You can find the files here :
http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/civ2/viewtopic.php?p=33154#33154

Note : I think we should continue playing this pbem with the current version, as the new events and other files won't be compatible with our current game. But please enjoy the new version in SP.

Futher fixes and changes are planned for v.2.9 and v.3.0 - so please give me your notes, if you find inconsistencies or have other comments. Planning to overhaul the king regeneration events once more (with unique kings for each civ), and create a new scenario ending, which closes the scenario off. Still considering switching the frisians for a new viking civ though.

I booted my turn repeatedly yesterday, and could not get the city screens to open up as they finished building their items. Could not even click into a city to see, or change, productions. Posting this here, in case someone understands it, and willing to help me with it: synopsis, brother visiting from out of State played late night with the computer. Dickhead made some unknown changes. I eventually figured out city screens wouldn't open because of pixel (?) resolution to high? Anyway, now the game works. However, all the text under the icons on my program screen are about twice normal size. All (pictures of) files are about twice normal size. Bar/graph on top of screen is HUGE! As you guys have heard me state repeatedly, I'm CPU ignorant. Thankfully, game works now, but anyone know how/what to UN-do whatever idiot kid brother did (mega frustration)? OK, game on.

@Norse: Deal completed; they shall be cleared out.

Novgorod taken.

First thing I would try is to go to your desktop, right click on some poen area, choose properties.

If only the fonts are larger then look under the 'Appearance' tab and there should be an option for 'Font Size'. If everything on the computer looks huge than under the same properties screen find the 'Settings' tab and look at the screen resolution.

(The above is for XP, not sure what operating system you have)

My God... if I play with you guys long enough, I may actually learn how to use this computer for something other than playing CIV year after year!

<not that there's anything besides CIV! :) >

Thanks again. It was the high pixel resolution that wouldn't open up the city screens in 'XP' (and I found that by accident...shh! :)
