Happy Holidays!

Christmas, New Year and then Chinese New Year! ££££$$$!!!!

Merry Christmas (and any other festival/holiday) to all Civfanatics.

I still say Bah Humbug. Maybe I'll get me a pole and try out that Festivus this year. ;)

Yes! A Festivus for the rest of us. I can't wait for the feats of strength. No body eats till you pin your father. "Come on George, fight your father."

Last year I dressed up in a Santa Clause out fit and went up to three of my b****es and said "HO, HO, HO!"

...They didn't think it was that funny (but I did).

:santa::santa::santa: Ho ho ho to all! :)

Looking out my window: Snow is falling slowly in big flakes, its cosy and warm inside my apartment... Its dusk, and the christmas lights downtown shine bright...

Sometimes its good to live above the arctic circle....

It says "holidays" so as not to leave anyone out, including those who celebrate Kwaanza as well as Hanuka and the Muslim holy month, and also includes New Years.

:santa:

Would you ever find a more politically correct forum on the net?

HO HO HO

Seasons greetings from the Mongol.

Wow, didn't know they celebrated St.Nicolas anywhere else but in Holland. December 5th is the big night for the kids around here, not X-mas eve.

Mutta hauskaa joulua sitä haist.... ööö? Ai niin joo, tämän piti olla maailman poliittisesti korrektein
threadi?!?
Hauskaa joulua! (Tähän ällöttävän söpö Panda-style-smiley)

And keep it Engrish here!

No idea what you say here, but I think it is politically correct. It's just a bit of originality in this thread where everyone wishes eachother in english....:)

merry christmas to you all

And many, many more ways to wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year, no matter where you live!!

Well, I was being sarcastic a bit :p . I don't celebrate st.nicolas. The post was more about the way the company coke changed an old, thin and agressive man (he was really hitting the children if they weren't good, and giving to others fruit (kind of, since he's supposed to be dead for a long time)) to and old, sympathetic, thick and generous man offering gifts to everyone.

But I would like to know how you celebrate st.nicolas in Holland. I don't know many things about it, all I know is what I stated there, and I remember he wasn't red, blue if I recall. Anyway, I would like to learn more.

Well, somewhere in November, St.Nicolas comes to Holland in a Steamboat. The children believe he comes from Spain (he was Turkish, bishop of Myra.) with his servants (Moors) called Black Pete. From the moment he is in the country kids start putting their shoes near the fireplace and sing songs. In the shoes they put sugar or carrots for St.Nicolas' white horse. Next morning they'll find little presents like chocolate-letters or something in it. The big day is December 5th. That evening is called 'pakjesavond' (= present eve) and St.Nicolas will drop by and check in his big book if you have been good this year, and will either give you presents, or put you in a sack and take you back to Spain to work for him. December 6th he goes back to Spain (his death-day really). All the kids believe he is hundreds of years old.
