Harry Potter books-Sirius might not be dead!

Oh yes, because character development i so superfluous, or treating your characters with respect. Plus it would have added only the funeral (ministry did apologize- offscene) which could have been done in less than half dozen pages.

Look, I know some people think mrs (it is mrs, isn't it?) Rowling can do no wrong, I enjoyed some of her books, but classical pieces of literature they are not.

Nowhere does it say the ministry actually apologises just that they made a mistake- they didnt apologise for it. Further by making a big deal over his death it would have detracted slightly from the big fight at the end.

I agree completly- so why are you so shocked that after reading what is about 700 pages of that book plus the couple of thousand other pages of previous books that she killed a character off in that way. She didnt spend too long on the death of cedric diggory nor that much on Dumbledore.

The deaths were intended to be futile casualties of war. One min there, the next gone. It is rather the point.

Well I don't remember it exatly, but they removed Umbridge, reinstated Dumbledore and leaned again of the newspaper- that is govermentish for apologize.

Because a death of important character was one of the selling points? And he then dies partially accientaly? Look, how would you feel if in SW:ROTJ emperor had a cough and fell over the railing? Well or if Luke after being pinned down threw handle of his lightsaber and keeled him over? I am not complaining about length, I am complaining about way.

Both young Diggory and Dumbledore get killed, Sirius got a shove.

bets on the two that die then?! I think Harry and Voldemort. the prophecy was neither good live whilst the other survives, maybe they both die. i can see a line like 'Harry no' 'its the only way hermione' kersplash.

Snape for new head of hogwarts I recon.

She'll kill off the best characters, who have motivation and sense, like Dumbledore, Sirius and Snape.
The worthless idiots, like Harry, who blow around like candles in the wind, with no talent, relying on luck, will survive.
Neville will die, because he's another person with some real character.
The moral of the story is don't be too motivated, or have any goals in life, because some unstoppable force (like a wizarding war) will kill you off.

In the book, and in the movie, it doesn't show or typed that Sirius fell backwards, just rose into the veil and vanished. JK Rowlin really blew it there, because Sirius could easily escape out of the veil, because that is where the souls are AFTER they die, NOT BEFORE it. Harry had a talk with
Sirius in the 7th book, and he said he died. He THOUGHT he did. The world of Magic is unpredictable, tyvm.

You do realize that this thread is 3 years old, and the HP series has concluded?

Y'know, I was going to clearly state that it's not accepted cannon that Harry and Ginny end up together, even if the series is supposedly "finished." But after Karalaysia's post...but then the thread hasn't died anyway so that's my view.

Also seems pretty clear the curtain itself killed Sirius. Certainly a wrenchingly sudden character death, but also it worked storywise not as bad as many others especially in the final books.
