I was making small talk with my friend's mom last night, and she said (with some disdain) that 25% of humanity has worked at McDonalds at one time or another in their life.

I will be applying for a job at McDonalds and most likely getting it (this McDonalds is very short on employees and I'm going to tell them I'm 16).

Have you?

Nope. My wife worked at Burger King. She loved that job, actually.

I worked at an Osco Drug (kind of like a CVS) once. Maybe by McDonalds she meant generic low-income menial jobs?

that number is way to high. I'm sure most asian people haven't worked there. And no I haven't worked there. As for lying about your age I don't think that will pay off, but it's your choice.

I don't know. But I can't make a poll "have you ever worked at a menial chain-store job" because anyone who had teenage years would vote yes.

I heard that 3% of Americans in the 1980's had. I can belive that
Im lucky that Ive never had to. I have marketible computer skills, so I've been able to find a higher paying job. I hope to stay that way

I don't know, I'm pretty sure that there is no way they can easily catch me, and well, I need money bad. ;)

Wait... 25% of humanity? Isn't that like close to 2 billion? They havent even served that many customers! Or maybe they have. "Billions served".....

Worked at one for a few months back in high school. Hated it.

Yeah, she said it with some hatred towards McDonalds, I think it was a large exaggeration to point out how they are an evil gigantic corporation.

how's about asking for ID :p

I thought jobs usually require a SS# and a Birth Cirtificate for the work permit. you need one if you're under 18. I would be very surprised if this worked

Well, legal jobs require it. I started working when I was 12 for a family friend's car detailing business, got paid under the table in cash.

this is true...but that wouldnt be the case at a major fast food establishment wouldnt it?

Well a Social Security number shouldn't be a problem, would it?

Obviously if they need a birth certificate I'm screwed.

they can find out anything with an SS number if they decide to look into it. Remeber big brother is always watching

You can't get away with lying about your age. You should be able to work there, though. 14 and 15 year olds can be employed.

Don't lie about your age, that is one good reason for them to fire you (if they don't find out until they hired you, but more than likely they will check first). And they would probably not hire you again, because you are untrustworthy (lie). And if you did work there for a bit, then apply somewhere else after being fired, the new employer will want to know why you were fired at your previous job, and that would not look good for you. (I just wouldn't tell them about my previous job in that case).

Yes, they do hire 14 and 15 year olds. There is limited things you can do (I believe you can't operate the fryers), and there is limited hours and pay, but the experience for future jobs will be worth it (proving you show up for work and on time everyday, for example).

Edit: No, I never worked at McDonald's, but a friend of mine did for 2 or 3 years.

Heck no. I went the supermarket route instead when I was a teenager. :)
