Would you support it?

I just saw the debate between Obama and Clinton and Clinton says 'it's imperative in the heart of Europe to promote independence and democracy'. Would this apply for the US too, if California, Texas or most realistically Hawaii would like to declare independence?

Poll coming.

I don't think you need to promote democracy in Hawaii, last time I checked the US was doing pretty good on democracy.
As such, the island has few, if none, reasons to be independent.

The only valid one that I see would be to restore Kamehameha's royal line, just because that's a cool name for a king.

Enough with these "independence" threads anymore.

For the last time, no part of US will ever split from US for 2 reasons:

1) US would never allow that
2) Why would anyone separate from the currently strongest country in the world, both economically and militarily.

there isn't a significant Hawaiian independence movement so i'd be against it on the grounds that the super majority are against it.

If the population of Hawaii wanted to be independent, then I would support it no question.

Its pretty silly though, to even think about

Will people give these purely hypothetical very unlike "what ifs" a break already?

LOLZ what if I get a group of hundreds of thousands of americans together and move to Southern Sweden then declare independence, would you support it?????

To answer the question, no. I support no nations breaking off the US, see 1860s for example of how i think such things should be dealt with.

Social Contract theory was tossed out in 1865.

I've never said Hawaii is close of breaking out, and at the moment it wouldn't happen. It is a what if scenario that I found interesting since a Hawaiian independence wouldn't be unreasonable if it became economically beneficial for them.

No, I do not support such a secessionist movement and I am an American.

Not sure about Hawaii, but I'm for granting complete, total, and immediate independence from the CFC OT forum for the next person who starts an "Independence for XYZ?" thread.

I don't spend all my days at these forums so I'm sorry if I missed the other independence threads, but you're free to contribute to this one...

*opens up "Independance for Bavaria" thread*

What?

Are you people going to make a dozen threads making comparisons that hardly stand up in reality?

Hawaiians don't want independence, and are perfectly safe under US administration. Just like Hispanics, blacks, hell everyone here!

These are just getting spammy.

If Gaum doesn't hate us, I don't see Hawaii wanting independence from their former-colonial masters.
