Hermetic lore for FFH DI4 (not for use outside this game)

I think that we can easily settle this by admitting that dean should not have nerfed the same unit Onion blessed in the same round. We can agree to avoid situations like this in the future, without imposing stricter limits on our own rules.

We are adults. At the very least, we are not children.

If anyone does NOT agree with this, please let me know. Otherwise, can we please drop this subject and forge ahead?

Agreed. And I feel the same way with what Ravus had posted earlier. It also might be best to post here exactly who your Champion is.

I believe that Lgaard has been keeping the first page of this forum up to date with quests put forth by gods. As well as the Civs and units and their God Promotors. It allready has the Bannor down for Junil and the Vampires down for Aeron. It even has Stevanson down as Camulos'. I don't see why we can't have a seperate list added there titled God Champions when the units do something worthy of the title. As long as we ask nicely of Lgaard.

never mind. I will only commit to giving more forewarning next time, but not against cursing a unit on the same time it's been blessed.

Hm... Finnegan certainly pleased me. He both finished my quest AND worked very hard, while being cursed.

To continue the theme of hard work, what if I give Finnegan Medic I and II? I helps him deal with the curse, although not through magic, but through work...

Comillo needs to be given Vampire and Command I

Ohh so he's a vampire then? From Calabain lands? i guess he wasn't so much hunting the rats as eating them. (Not sure how vampires work here.) Does Aeron get to claim him for a stort then? not sure on whether Comillo has a pre-written back story.

As for Hell. Personally i'd wait till more then 9 AC. however if we do want to do now we could instead of making it on the main land, make it on the sea and link it with a portal.

hmmm looks like Amelanchier won the war. Just going to check everything away from Grigori lands then i'll write up an over-view of foriegn happenings and my own intervention proposals.

Why not wait until Hell Land would spread into neutral lands? >.> Isn't that 20 AC?

EDIT: Can someone check the Diplomatic standings between Gerran and Tasunke?

Well, story goes very well and after reading the AAR I feel he did great efford in exploration and fighting (Khazak Castle). On the other hand his economy seems to be poor (as hell). I'm not able to grab the save atm and check the results myself, but it seems the game acheived the status as one might expect when the civilization is at odds with Mammon and at ease with other gods. Given the bonuses/penalties he was given - it is a bit ironic how well he did in exploration even under Mammon's curse and how blessing from other gods (units!) spoiled his economy. But all in all - good job from all of us and from him.

As for other things:
- I was updating my first page posts to some point then I abandoned the idea. If you find it useful - I will update it.
- I will do the balancing touch each round. I try to concentrate at other civs. If I have any doubts about any god interventions: I will raise it up here.
- As my time zone is CET (=GMT+1) quite probably I will not be the last who do changes. Is there someone having similar timezone as Verdian (Japan) willing to do the crash tests after last intervention each round?
- Vandal Warlord, how may I help you?

Overview of the world: Turn 100
Spoiler :

The War between the two elvish nations has progressed well, The Ljosalfar have claimed Yggdrasil as their own with the city of Hyll while the Svartalfar have fortified and turned their safe capital city into a power house.

Inbetween the Grigori and the Elvish nations an Orc city has been built named Deluoc Has, This could cut of trade between the three empires and is a constant threat.

The Blazing sword has moved into prominance in these lands. This sign is sacred to Camulos and affects diplomacy.

The Clan has become a powerful empire, They unite their lands and those of their friends with great games that become a unifying event. (Bloodsport)
Clan units also begin the torturing of prisoners.

Balseraphs were assaulted by the Great Orthus! Eventually they managed to kill him. They now possess his fiery axe. Which has become the envy of the Dovellio.

Auric Ulvin is pleased with bannor and Kuriotayes yet has Jonas and Mahala annoyed with him... curious.

Official Worst Enemies:
Cardith Lorda and Jonas
Mahala and Sabathiel (Ha! Forshadowing!)

Top Two Civs:
Cardith Lorda
The Shiem

Plans for turn 100 intervention.

Aims: To install some chaos in the other nations and disrupt their economy. To Continue the development of Stevenson, Harbringers and a Barbarian Nation. If possible then help the Grigori with their economy.

1) If the Elvish Hero’s have died then gift the civ who lost them a training academy in their honour (similer to the building you normally recieve for the loss of a hero)
-At the moment it appears as though Vikxin has died while Falmancheir has survived in the Ljosalfar Captial. If anyone else finds Vikxin please let me know.

2) Gift the winner of the war with a more advanced army. Ljosalfar seems to have gained more land and the tactical base next to Yggdrasil (which is wonderful narrativly as i can say they only founded it to stop the Svartalfar) However the Svartalfar have the better capital and economy... It is debatable who is the “winner" thus the changes below are merely ideas.
- Ljosalfar = Elite Homeguard, Held with city defence.
- Svartalfar = Advanced Scout, Scouts with extra movement and visability to act as advance forces

3) Stevanson has defeated the undead guardian of the tower and coverted or bullyed somer extra people to move to the north. Then he destroyed the graveyard monument to Arawn. He didn’t pillage or kill. So no big blessing from me.
- Vandal do you want to do a final wrapup for Arawn’s tower? or shall we leave it alone? I left a “dirge of Arawn" next to the coast as an escape method. We could say that everyone left feeling abandoned by Arawn and thus the town of death becomes a ghost town, with no-one there. Or we could have some leave in rage at being treated this way while others stay to embrace the Grigori multi-religious way of life.
- Stevanson Will probably get a minor promotion... either enraged to get the Grigori into trouble or hidden nationality to show his annoyance at being ignored by his people. Untill he is accepted by his people he could roam the world.

4) Set up Barbarian Nation In the middle of the desert. They will act to weaken most of the normal civs in the north and west part of the world. They will also claim the mount of equilibrium and the Dragon plot that was started by Lgaard.
- They will be Dragon Worshippers and emulaters. Dragons in this world were purly weapons of war between the Gods. They too wish to fashion themselves into weapons.
- In the Barbarian Nation only the strong have rights.
- The Dragon Skeleton in the north may be used as a plot point in that the barbarians wish to raise it with death mana (views on this by other gods?)
- The Red Dragon to the east will be used as well. Perhaps link Ered to the Barbarain Nation with a road. (Need info on dragon lore)

5)The Dovellio will be the next to feel the Harbringer touch. They are allready Jealous of the Balseraphs managing to defeat the undeafeatable Orthus. The tales of his every burning axe fill the Dovellio with envy in their frozen tundra.
- Make the Dovello decalre war on Perpenchantask first as this would be done solely to facilitate the Dvello’s blood lust and allow me to eventually bless them when Verdian meets them and i can write about them narrativly.

Ways to improve a economy. Less troops. Better civics. Pillaging. Resources. Wonders. Religion. Trade.

Notes for the attention of other gods:

Cernunnos - With the war over Yggdrasil the elves have switched to war time econmoies. This means that the establishment of the Way of the Leaves is probably going to take awhile longer then normal in games. I am open for a narrative way for the war to end if this is neccesary, war allways spark up again between hated rival nations but i wouldn’t have anything against a few turns of peace so that your religion can be founded by the elves instead of someone else.
Also when do we consider the Grigori enough to be allowed access to the fawn guardians?

Aeron - The mentality of the barbarian nation is that they only respect power. people are either masters or slaves. This can blend nicely with the vampiric way of running things but i doubt any respect will be forthcoming untill vampire hordes roam the lands and the vampires start showing their strength to the barbarian people. A future aliance is possible, but like the clan and the Dovello i would probably have to place a limiter in that if the Calaiban end up in the top 2 places on the score board the barbarians will deem them TOO powerful and thus a threat.

Mulcarn - What are your thoughts on the Dovello, I will try to switch them to war mongers when i can and re-introduce Charadon but as previous allies to the illian how do you wish to interact with them yourself?

Esus - The barbarian method of might equals right would obviously also entail a lot of assassinations by weaker people just trying to move up the ladder who know they have not the strength to match the truely strong. I see Esus as having some worship in the barbarian lands but not the top teir level of the power structure. If you wish to do anything with this go ahead.

Agares - How do you feel about a team up for Stevanson and Paal? I am considering giving both of them hidden nationality and writting up that they go questing to grow strong enough to defeat Baal.

Lgaard - I am in australia but i'm not sure how close that is timezone wise.

Junil - The Bannor are allready hating on the Dovellio so thats a crusade waiting to happen on your part.

Tali - I wish to sour relations between the Belseraphs and the Dovellio. I believe that they fall under your domain mainly so i'm just checking if this would worry you.

Lore needed;

Dragons.
They were originally tools of war and were locked in the gods vaults. They do not have magic apart from their breath weapon. Does anyone know their intelligence level or personality and so on.

The huge skeleton that can be added in worldbuilder its nearly 5 plots by 10 plots. What is the lore behind this skeleton?

-

Sorry for the huge post guys.

Dragons are smart. Very, very smart. Cardith Lorda is actually the mind-meld of a young boy and the Gold Dragon. (Speaking of which, Cardih Lorda probably needs to have his cities re-located: he sucks at that.)

Don't know about the skeleton.

As I said in the main thread, Mammon is happy. Delighted even. Making the Grigori turn to the gods in general and abandon pretenses of agnosticism has been one of my objectives, and I did not expect it so soon. As a reward, Mammon's curse is lifted. The negative promotions will all be removed by my hand (or whoever does it for me).

Still have to pose a dellima to the player before I'm ready, but what Mammon can give Mammon can take away, and vice versa.

Mammon can give Mammon can take away
I hope you are going to take this sentence to the extreme this time. Crown of Command? Command V promo? It is waay too high reward for merely "keeping things in secret". This is my view, but I'm open for discussion.

Otherwise, I really like your quest! (and your eristic skills too;))

What I wanted is the Compelling Jewel item, but that's in FF, not base FFH. I'd prefer it to be an item, but if other people protest, I'll make it a promotion which can be jumbled around ever round of interventions.

Command V is my preference, but I'm open to being bribed on the matter... ;)

And if you think that's too high, wait until you hear what my intended Intervention is. Depends on his response, mind you, but-

Eristic? Well, I'd be gloating if I told the truth in a way that would make sense. And gloating ruins the effect and purpose. But as I said: I've been trying to wrangle him to worship gods.

Mammon's evil is particularly effective, see, because every civ in Fall From Heaven, and every religion, is vulnerable to him. Even the Bannor under Junil fell to the temptations of the Bazaar of Mammon which, after providing much money for a great number of righteous crusades and great victories, brought about the fall of the Bannor. And that was in the civilization of Junil. In the Kilimorph-devoted civs of the Dwarves, I twist that desire for Kilimorph's blessing into a desire for the reward itself. Kilimorph rewards her followers with money and prosperity in exchange for virtue and piety, but when they come to desire the rewards more than the virtue, as they are oft to do, they worship me instead.

I, Mammon, have the largest army of Demons. And I am the largest claimer of souls of all the Gods of Hell, who in turn claim more souls than their good and neutral counterparts. And why is that possible? Why do I get the most? Because people are greedy. They want rewards, they want money, promotions. You name it, they'll kill 'barbarians' for it. And when they worship wealth and rewards in their heart and demean all other life, they worship me, no matter what they think.

If he were a Cassiel-Grigori, who wouldn't rely on the Gods no matter what the Gods did to (or for) him, I have far less of a claim on him. But now that he's turned to the Gods, he's as vulnerable as the rest of them.

Except that Gerran has pleased Kilmorph. A lot. And Kilmorph will not let you take him to your hell. She will keep him on the path of virtue, even if some of his followers are corrupted.

Well, that's exactelly what I'm trying to say.
Garren rejected you publicly and asked for protection from other gods, and you managed to elaborate quite convincing response, claiming your great victory. To support your version you've even withdrew your 'curse'. That requires a skill. Good for you.
BTW: what Intervention are you planning?

He, you've got to love those who loose and make it seem like a victory. "Yes, yes, we lost the entire continent. No! This is a victory, see? Because now their empire is spread too thinly, and they will soon die! Yes, I'm serious! Ha! You can't fire me! I'm the best general we have!"

Doesn't matter. That's the long and short of it. :p

In Lore, by Compact, gods can only claim their worshippers, not merely those who please them, a definition by which I can claim just as easily as you. And Hell, next to Arwan's no-man's-souls, is the biggest collector of souls, not because of who they worship in public or knowingly, but in their hearts. Hell claims far more souls than all of the heavens.

I've made Gerran renounce Grigori ideals for godly intervention in his favor, seen him desire wealth enough to toss said ideals, and driven his people to lust and want more gambles with their hearts and minds even when punished for it. I have, in effect, made the Grigori into moral sell-out masochists for money and favors.

How have they worshipped you in their hearts and minds? :crazyeye:

You make it sound like I'm lying.

Oh, something you aren't suspecting. Not something he's going to thank me for, most likely.

Well, maybe. A Great Merchant would be crass, but on the other hand I don't want to tip my hand on the other thing quite yet.
