History Quiz III (with rules)

Both Bruce Catton and James McPherson refer to the Merrimack as unseaworthy, for the reasons stated by pawpaw.

Also, the other indication that she was not seaworthy was when, later in the spring, the Union army was moving in on Norfolk. The Merrimac made no attempt to escape by sea, but was blown up at the docks.

AFAIK, it was created through the blending of the flags of Prussia and The Hanseatic League when The North German Confederation formed.

(Black and White, Red and White respectively.)

The colors were Black, Red and Gold, like the current flag. What I know of there significance, very little at the current timing.

Okay.

Which British Prime Minister in the 20th century had the shortest period(s) of office for that century, and which had the longest?

I'm counting total time in the office here, not the shortest and longest consecutive periods.

Well, actually there were two years with 4 Emperors but I will take the guess it is 193 (Didius Julianus in Rome, P. Niger in Syria, Albinus in Bitain and Septime Severus in Pannonia (Hungary) who became THE emperor.

Just in case te other one was at the end of the Julio-Claudian dinasty : Galba, Vitellius (Rhine), Othon and Vespasian who became THE emperor after conquering Rome under Tacitus eyes and whose brother, city praefectus of Rome had been murdered prior to his arrival. His son (Domitian if I am correct) escaped through a temple.
