History Rewritten (Original Thread)

One other thing I've noted: artillery and cavalry can launch ranged attacks while on board ships.

That shrikes me as incredibly powerful, and also very unrealistic.

Re-hi folks !

I have a little request scenario for History Rewritten based :

Since a famous scenrio maker like Jeelen has not made a scenario for a while, although i asked to him making scenarios for History Rewritten 0.5 or further...

So i launch one idea or two : what about a 100 AD scenario based on this mod ?
or a 1000 AD or a 1000 BC ? Because certains new civs could be fitting for these scenarios, what about a 800 AD scenario or a 1250 AD one ?

So, i will download the first scenario ever made for history Rewritten, like others will download it, i hope the quality of this scenario will be great...

Happy making that !

I've gotten another repeatable crash -- Hebrew galleons seem to cause a repeated crash, similar to the problem I had earlier with shamanistic missionaries.

I'm still without a computer (supposed to be arriving later this week) so I can't look into these issues yet. If the Galleon is crashing for the Hebrew then it's likely to be crashing for several other civs too - I can't remember if I set Israel with the Mediterranean or Near East/African ship style. There was a crash related to the Near East/African galleon back in 0.3 so it's possibly related. Could you post the crash log for the galleon crash?

I'm not quite sure what you're requesting here. Are you saying that you want to make a scenario and want suggestions for a time period? Or are you wanting me or someone else to make one?

Sorry, I don't have it. I'll see if I can replicate it, but it may take a while.

Crash logs are saved on your system if it uses the default setup.

Open the /Applications/Utilities/Console application and select Files->~/Library/Logs->CrashReporter in the left hand panel*. There should be one or more entries in that list named 'Civilization IV Beyond the Sword_[date/time]_[computer name].crash'. Highlight the one you think relates to the Galley crash and copy/paste the top bit including the 'Thread 0 Crashed' section.

* If the left hand panel isn't visible, click the toolbar button 'Show Log List'

I launched a scenario request, i would like somebody to make these scenarios because i'm not enough skilled for historical ones...

Okay, here's the crash log. To be specific, the crash occurred when I told a city to build a galleon.

Apparently, my Mac is not set to auto-save the crash files (can anyone tell me how to turn that on?), but I went back and played another game as the Hebrews to a point where I could replicate the crash.

The log is attached as a file. I've also attached a save game. Just try to build a galleon in Hebron to replicate the crash. (And keep kicking Aztec butt in the war I'm fighting!)

I can also verify that frigates do not cause crashes.

The crash log indicates another NIF animation file problem, similar to the Shaman one.

I've no idea how you have succeeded in stopping CrashReporter saving its logs. That's its main purpose in life, along with sending crash reports to Apple. I wonder if you have a permissions problem.

Please, Make this change, THe Incan Empire Started in Cuzco Which its located in Peru! Check a Map and then check your starting location in your map for this Civ, It;s wrong. The mod it cool but check this and a few other startings locations.

Okay. As I said before, if anyone makes a scenario for HR I will include it but I do not have any time/desire to make one myself at the moment.

Thanks, my new computer is theoretically arriving in the morning (getting very impatient and excited) so hopefully this weekend I can start looking into it. It looks just like the Shaman crash so solving one should lead quickly to solving the other. I really appreciate all your bug reports btw.

As I state in the FAQ I didn't make these maps nor assign starting locations for the standard BTS civs. The only ones I've checked are the new civs I've added. I don't know yet if I'll be redesigning the Inca at all (like I've done for the Aztecs), certainly not in 0.6 anyway. I'll shift Cuzco further south for 0.6 though, thanks for letting me know.

I noticed little confusion for both UU and UB things of the Hattis : Hulugani both...

In Civilopedia : UB is represented by UU icon, but IT was cosmetic only... happily :goodjob:

One other thing I noted, and good luck replicating this because its probably occurred via random chance... I played a game on a "Big&Small" map (which I believe is something HW added). Despite that, the game was played on one big continent.

And I note the Hebrews don't have a UB yet. Might I suggest a kibbutz, available with the development of Communism. I don't know enough about how a kibbutz functioned to say what it would do, but its certainly something unique to Hebrew/Israeli society.

1) And about Dimona, the israeli nuclear plant, could considered like a national wonder because it powers 80 % of Israeli electricity ;)

2) What about including this map script, it is a few old, but it seems very apreciated ;)

Alright! I am back in action and absolutely loving my new computer. So fast and the screen is just gorgeous. Now to try remember where I was up to and try tackle this ever increasing todo list :)

Oops, silly mistake, easily fixed.

Big&Small is not part of HR. I think it's part of BTS as it shows up for me too.

Finding/choosing a good Hebrew UB has been hard. I quite like the kibbutz, I'll see if I can find suitable graphics for it.

I don't include any mapscripts in HR at the moment as I figure people can easily add them themselves and I really don't need another source of things to fix right now :P

Ok, I no asking anymore for maps or mapscripts on this thread...

I retained my lesson...

Actually i'm playing a very interesting game with "Continents and Islands" mapscript...

Okay I have some bad news. I've been trying for two days now to get Nifskope to run on my new computer and failing miserably. This is a tool I use to view and edit leader/unit models outside of Civ4 itself. Though it's not absolutely essential it makes everything so much faster and easier. Without it I can't optimize units or fix animation/texture problems or even view models from mods that aren't Mac compatible.

Anyway I'm going to have to put History Rewritten on hold until this problem is solved, it's just too frustrating to mod without it. If anyone has any experience with compiling software on Mac or using QT could you please take a look at this thread and help.

A quick update on my plans. So far I've been releasing a new version of History Rewritten at the start of every month, but between being computerless for a couple weeks and with Nifskope not working I'm not going to be getting 0.6 finished any time soon.

What I've decided to do this month is to put together a small update which I'll call 0.5.1. It will be simply to fix known bugs and any minor changes already complete. Unique National Wonders will not be in it as they are still far from completion. Assuming it all goes well I'll have it ready in a few days. Please let me know of any bugs you may have discovered recently and I'll try get as many fixes in as I can.

Actually I'm not going to release a 1.5.1 afterall. I forgot that I made quite a few reorganizations of the xml to support Unique National Wonders that are going to take too long to undo. I'll soldier on with getting 0.6 finished and try pack as much into it as I can. Sorry for the delay.

Meantime I think I've fixed the Mediterranean Galley crash. Please try the attached file, it replaces the existing one in History Rewritten/Assets/Modules/Units/.
