HOF Version 3 - "Test Run"

Did you delete the inner HOF or the outer HOF? Wht you should have done is to cut the inner HOF, move one folder out so you can see the other HOF and then paste the folder and overwrite the empty HOF.

There was an extra HOF..I deleted it then when I restarted Civ Complete it failed!! So I am attempting to reload Civ Complete and start over. But guys that means I am probably another day away from getting this to work..MAYBE! So if you would rather press on then I understand. ITs aleady almost 2 am and I'm ready to quit for the day. Will resume efforts tomorrow. Sorry for the hassle!

Sully:
I will play the pre-trurn for you since I have the save file, that will get the
game moving again while you sort things out.

that sounds like a plan Eric...I'm reloading everything from scratch and will see if I can get the save you sent to me to work in the meantime!

Cheers!

Thanks Eric! AND good news....Everything is up and running!!! So I should be a GO from this point on!! Do email me with what you did on this initial turn!!! I appreciate everyone being so patient and allowing me the pleasure in oining you all in this game!

Cheers (not to the enemy of course :))

Hey all. Bit of bump in the road I'm afraid. Got this error. The curious thing is I can open the game in single player with no problems, and pull up V1 Factory in Civilopedia no problems. I re downloaded the new pedia and biq to be sure. Not sure what to do any ideas?

Arexander had the same problem, see post #65 for solution.

Alright. I reinstalled everything and it still wasn't working. Just out of curiosity I started playing with the PediaIcons file in the main conquests folder and was making progress, didn't get the same error message and then I got this. Like I was saying I can open the game in single player just fine. Is there any way the changes people made ahead of me to make it work could be affecting me being able to open it?

I can't get it to work. I've reinstalled everything including conquests, and all the files for HOF. The closest I ever got was it telling me it's not a valid save file. I still don't get why it works perfect in single player though. So I guess move on or find a replacement...

Gee...I don't remember the prior versions being so "buggy" just getting it installed?? I too to reload Conquests, unzipped and loaded the HOF files. Then added the MP.biq, then added the new pediacons file before I got mine to run. That's a lot of work to just get started!!! Is this version so much different from the last Eric? They installed and opened easily compared to this one??? Now is this the first time this is being play-tested? I seem to recall you and I did a short play test of a HOF Nature early this year before I moved to England. That one worked well!

That_guy-
I'll send the file to Sully, Let's see if it works for him.

Sully- Can you take the brits until we figure something out?

Sure..send it to me and I'll see if it works..I'll need the password for the Brits and Minor Allies BTW. TG..If you have a particular strategy in mind for the Brits then please email me with your thoughts on the move you were planning to make.

Cheers!

I opened the file and mucked around a bit and it seems to be fine.

I do not have time to play it right now (I have been a bit busy lately with travel and family stuff and not been able to follow the discussion very well). I have been looking for first turn rules. Is this the zero turn with no movement? No attack? Let me know. I will try to get it tomorrow or so.

So maybe you guys can double check me as best you can. I have the biq from post 3 in conquests\conquests folder and conquests\scenarios folder. Have the files from the PM downloaded to the conquests\conquests folder. I have the new pedia file from post 35 in the HOF_V3\Text folder, and the path looks like this C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Conquests\HOF_V3.

Semental:
The restrictions for the first turn (pre-turn) are in post #53. I wasn't planning to use
the pre-turn in this game but Kuntis went ahead with it and I'm OK with that.

So, interesting development at least to me. It seems all of my save files are coming up as invalid. So tomorrow I'm going to try reinstalling everything starting back at Vanilla, see if maybe that will finally solve the problem. Moving everything to the scenarios folder did work that it didn't give me any error messages thanks arexander!
