I find I cook the best steak. My mother does not know how to cook it properly. :shakehead I always find that she overcoks the steak.

Medium, good area for steak for me. I typically don't eat steak too often. I perfer chicken over beef, better tasting IMO, and healthier.

I don't eat steak, or most other meat for that matter.

Don't get me wrong: I am completely in favor of the slaughtering of animals.

But if you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!

Screw pudding! Give me more meat!

Medium rare to medium, closer to medium rare. Also, for all of you scared of bacteria and such, it is a proven scientific fact that all of the harmful bacteria and such die by the time the steak reaches medium rare. So, even a low quality piece of meat can be safely eaten at medium rare. If you are really skitish, go with medium. Believe me, your taste buds will thank you!

Medium (internal temp ~61C). Although I prefer prime rib to steak...

I like it anywhere between medium and well, so put medium well. ;)

It's also good marinated, sliced in thin strips, and dessicated. Tried to use the drool smiley but it just doesn't look right.

I like my steak medium-rare. I usually make my own steak now and RARELY (get it?) order steak when I'm at a restaurant anymore.

It amazes me that people can like anything beyond rare.
A medium or well-done steak should be considered a total waste of taste.....

I always cook mine rare. I put some spices all over it, then let is sit out of a few minutes, then put it in the broiler for about 4 minutes a side. It comes out absolutely perfect with the steaks we have. kinda burnt spices of the outside, very nice light brown exterior, and just beneth the surface, an ince or lovely bloodry red, but warm, heaven.

I do the seasoning after I got both sides exactly one minute in hot butter.

BTW:
The option 'blue', afaik, refers to a steak that has been frozen and still hasn't been unfrozen, when it enters the frying pan.
I think it represents poor cooking skills more than any matter of taste.

I might be wrong.

yeah, i tried a peice of frozen turkey (thanksgiving leftovers), once, and it just did not feel right. I spit it out reall quick.
