What value do you attach to knowlege? Are wisdom and knowledge worth any cost? If you could exchange your happiness for a better understanding of the universe around you, would you go through with it?

What is the value of knowledge? Discuss.

I value knowlege mroe than anything really.

For the happiness part, my response is "What happiness? Didn't I sacrifice it already for knowledge?" ;p

How important is knowledge?
Depends on what sort of knowledge. Some knowledge is more important than other knowledge. Theres no answer to the question.

Of course not. The only knowledge and wisdom worth accquiring is that which increases my happiness (and survival).

Depends on which job you're applying for I guess. :D

I value knowledge very highly. It's what allows me to find happiness and comfort in the most troubling of times. When I don't have the knowledge to comfort myself in a given situation, I turn to faith, which I value even higher than knowledge.

Depends what you mean by happiness. Short-term gratification?

I regularly sacrifice short-term pleasure for knowledge.

As well, I view the destruction of knowledge to be rather undesirable.

I value knowledge very highly, mainly because im a competetive person and I like to know more than at least some people. And when I think I have attained a good bit of knowledge, whether it be in a day, week, or year, I start to feel more confident and happy.

Very important. Knowledge is not worth any cost, but the price that i'm willing to pay to avoid being a happy ignoramus is quite high.

Very high. Knowlegde is how humanity is able to advance, progress and prosper.

No. I would not give up my life, or any other person(s)'s life for more knowledge.

It's a difficult choice. I think that I be happer with a greater understanding of the universe, but if I have aboustely choose, I go with with understanding. As warpus said:
I'd rather be open-minded and depressed than delusional and happy.

Knowledge and Intelligence are 2 different things. Knowledge is how much information you know (IE: You could win a quiz show no problem) and intelligence is how well you can process facts into useful information.

Very high value. If applied correctly, i.e. used to make money.

Depends. Hard to say. Logically these two are of course desirable but the wise and knowledgeable are not necessarily always happy. "Ignorance is bliss" and all that...

No. Understanding the universe doesn't pay off that well.

Now understanding the stock market.... or the ability to predict the next big fashion or music trend...

Knowledge is of value only when it is used constructively.

Knowledge is the key, show me the lock.

Knowledge is more important than humanity.
