You and renaming provinces :crazyeye:

You should write "Shenandoahdal" in one word, you could also call it "Skjenandoadal" for mor scandinavianess.

That looks like a thoroughly satisfying experience!

I had an interesting thing happen in my game as Novgorod last night where Lithuania turned into a Horde! How is that even possible? (Not that I'm complaining, I got some smashing provinces for minimal effort, but sending setters to Kiev seems a bit... wrong)

Not much happened in the first half of the XVII century:

It's being incredibly hard to bring down inflation though these events sure help:

Now that colonisation is pretty much over, I'll need to war to expand :p

And I need to keep on expanding, so things should get more interesting from now on :D

I'm playing as Brandenburg, and I've made sure that I lose money each month, yet I'm 4 or 5 or maybe 6 tecnologies behind in each category after the technology leader Mecklenburg. Does anyone have an idea of how much should be invested in each category of technology to keep up? Any decisions to help me catch up?

i think innovative slider reduces cost.

I am working on the sliders. And actually, the free subjects slider seems to decrease the cost more. Though I went with centralisation first, which may not be the best idea.

By the way, I've managed to climb up to 3-4 technologies behind the technology leader.

A reasonably messed up Europe:

Switzerland and myself are Protestant along with all those minors in between. We've also been allies pretty much since we both converted and the alliance has gradually broken first Austria and more recently Bohemia. Novgorod switched to Reformed.

My discoveries of playing EUIII In Nomine-
I became Holy Roman Emperor in my most recent Milan game. I also made the mistake of aiding any nations in defense, and therefore ended up sending an army of 16k troops (at maximum) around Europe for 10-15 years.
'Twas quite good fun :p

Did Lithuania form Prussia?

It was the Teutonic Order. They benefitted from the Golden Horde basically wiping out Poland and Lithuania. They also annexed Croatia at one point but then fell apart.

Utrecht puzzles me the most.

Utrecht at one point owned the majority of Holland but then collapsed so I think they must have moved their capital to Iceland. I think at least 5 separate nations have controlled the bulk of the region and then fallen apart. Brabant are the latest.

Wurtemberg -> Schwabia -> Germany in More Provinces Mod - has been an eventful game. I decided to "ironman" it and simply play without saving except when stopping playing and therefore never reloading. I do admit however that I did reload once, today, as I was absent-mindedly auto-rebel-seeking half of my army while my other army lazily assaulted Flanders. THen some peasants collapsed my nation and half of it became Burgundy. (While being besieged by my army big enough to assault it, although it didn't because of rebel punch AI) Then i reloaded. Otherwise I haven't.

Most of the early game was trying to destroy Austria, as they and their gold mines would otherwise bully and conquer my homeland. I simply focused on taking a few of their provinces with or without a casus belli, shifting the balance in my direction. The first war was extremely difficult, the next less so, the third was balanced and then I left them to be eaten by the Ottomans that blobbed alarmingly fast. In the west, Switzerland expanded rapidly along with a few other Germans, namely Flanders, the Hansa, and in the east Teutonic Order and Bohemia. All of these became great powers that I fought at least one time in the game. In order to secure power, I crusaded all throughout the Ottomans, exploiting their high war exhaustion to gain a line of provinces at a time, slowly but steadily gaining the upper hand - technically their military was stronger, but their war exhaustion ruined their chances to counterstrike. The southern half of my eastern (Non-German) provinces - from Austria to Greece - were actually Ottoman once, while the northern half of those once belonged to Bohemia. That ended when I got an extremely lucky conquest casus belli and then ate the country up bit by bit. At some point during the German Unifications I managed to get into war with Greater Bohemia, Flanders, the Hansa, Prussia (Teutonic Order), the Two Sicilies (Italy), Auvergne and Great Britain at the same time and due to some pretty screwed diplomacy and grand swoops in Italy and the Netherlands, I managed to white peace or slightly destroy a few of the nations, completely ignoring the Prussian juggernaut, push Britain back to their coastal spots and then secure a formidably profitable peace that left me the strongest nation in the world. From then on, I've made a number of wars in Flanders, Hansa, Bohemia and Denmark in order to unify my German people and a few more, but I'm pretty happy from how it has turned out.

Currently I'm contemplating what to do next. The Netherlands are in open rebellion (With the rebels supporting me - it's slowing Flanders down more than taking them over though) but they should possibly be the first thing to secure. Then I'm contemplating whether to fix my southern borders (They are really ugly) or go into big bad Prussia in the northeast - their military is retardedly excellent so I'm actually not sure whether I can beat them one more time. Also, my navy has been terrible throughout the game - I have practically no naval presence and due to losing a 140-stack fleet to the 30-stack Hanseatic one (where only 15 of them were warships) I've completely dropped the idea of building a navy at all.

@Lohrenswald - Does Mecklenburg control a COT? Sometimes they take Lubeck from The Hansa, and good luck catching them in tech then. But fortunately, they're (usually) pretty small, so you don't need to equal them. As long as you're on par with Bavaria, Bohemia, and other regional powers, you should be OK.

That is a pretty messed up Europe. But I like it, it's an interesting one as well. Props to Zaporozhie to actually surviving.
