How is your EU3 Game going?

There is no such alliance with strong neighbours, you have to first win some wars until you can ally with Milan, but not anyone stronger.

But that is fine, i don't mind. I just find it pointless to have to fight even more difficult wars when there is no historical basis (?) for them, such as Algiers declaring war on me just because i attacked Candar, and then the ottomans being allied with Algiers.

But i guess reviving the empire is still doable, just not crippling the ottomans in 1408, like i ussually do.

Im sure there is some deadly event in 1453 lurking around ;)

However in 1399 the Empire still was larger, it controlled Thessalonike as well, so it is not like this game makes any favours to the Byzantines.

Anyway, i guess it is for the best since EU3 is a massive time consumer, and i can do without it now :)

Have you tried the 1405 start? You have a much stronger starting position, the European part of the Ottomans is controlled by rebels, you start with a larger navy than them and IIRC none of those alliances exist. (Some still happen, but it's probably not as bad.)

1520 I can form Russia yeah! Just waiting for the right cores. Will post a picture soon.

Never tried 1405 or any other sd apart from 1399, since then i would lose the chance to gain Epirus early on :)

Pfah! You ain't really played the Byz until you've done a 1453 start as Morea and rebuilt the Empire :p

Also, how do you see your cores?

Diplomatic Map mode shows your cores - any of your territories with grey lines don't have them, all the rest of your stuff, plus anything you don't own which has green lines is cored.

You gain the opportunity to get all of Ottoman Europe, though (5 provinces, rather than 1). The rest is harder though, since patriot rebels won't work if the target (Napoli, Venezia or whatever) can get a large army there easily. Akhaia and Athenai can be done though.

Hm, never actually thought of trying to get Achaia through patriot rebels :D

Still i am used to starting at 1399, since at 1406 i already have Epirus, Trebizond and Candar in my empire, and get ready to attack the ottomans :)

Patriot rebels generally aren't worth the money.

1405-6 start doesn't let you get the achievement.

The new patch doesn't let you either anyway.

But i am pretty much done with this game. It is pointless to try to do the same thing over again, and then the game itself is massive, i simply don't have the time to get through it.

Still, i changed my opinnion of Eu3 and now consider it to be by far the best in the EU series :)

Can somebody please tell me, how do I kill the Golden Horde?

In DW? You have to occupy their territories, then either extort for peace or get colonising, though the extortion only lasts a little while.

Thanks for the help!

Here is the Russian Empire before going to war with the Golden Horde.

There's an AAR of Ulm in the Paradox forums that uses patriot rebels rather creatively. But yes, generally, patriot rebels and in fact most kinds of rebels are too weak against most big targets unless they're weakened by war or low stability.

This.

Which is a better investment for one's economy; constructing production and trade infrastructure for low producing provinces or improving higher output ones?

The year is 1481 I believe. I founded Spain in 1476, it could have been founded about 1465, but I thought it was an event rather than a nation decision. The main thing to note here is that France's stability took some huge drop then they releases everyone they had conquered, plus more, then got destroyed by rebels/released nations. France no longer exists.

EDIT: That's not a very big picture. Lemme fix that real quick.
EDIT2: There we go. That's better.

Dat Brandenburg

It's pretty much the only country (besides yours) on the map that hasn't been balkanized :p
