How is your EU3 Game going?

Update on my Ottoman game. The year is 1723.

Here's Europe:
Spoiler :

Check out MY France. At one point it was reduced to Ile-de-France only. I played no part in the wars with them btw.
Also noteworthy in my picture is the dangerous looking Austria who are LEADING A PERSONAL UNION WITH SPAIN !!!!! Good thing both Austria and Spain are my closest allies. :D (not-declared alliances)

Onto Asia:
Spoiler :

Novogrod and Muscovy expanded east in parallel. Novogrod is racing toward the Pacific and Muscovy will prolly stop expanding now that it got to the Qin. For once they could start fighting among themselves.

Now Africa:

I don't know what the European powers are doing here. Why are they not colonising ? Why are they not attacking Songhai ? No idea. My colonization program is over. Europe can do whatever they want with the rest of Africa. All i will want more is the Portuguese Mutapa, but not now since they are allied with Spain, Austria and GB.

South America:
Spoiler :

I will take more provinces here once the new countries start springing up. No rush.

North America:

How the Shawnee and Creek are still alive in 1723 is beyond me. Everything north of Cuba and Panama is Europe's territory, i did not meddle there at all.

They are ugly ?
Other than strangely placed country names, i think they're fine.

Yeah. The coasts are fine but the internal borders make no sense. I'd recommend picking up DAO-lite at your next opportunity. It fixes the map without making any other changes to the game.

I use CanOmer's map. It's hard to go back to the vanilla map. DAO is good too.

shadowplay - Castille looks to be in trouble, too. Which I figure is probably good news for you.

Heretic_Cata - Nice empire! Impressive colonization in South America, too. You do have to watch Austria with personal unions as the Ottomans - seems like they're always getting lucrative ones. :) Impressive Qin and Wu as well - I like the stronger-than-usual Chinese expansion. Is that Milan in western Africa?

Northwest africa is Milan's yes. I'm trying to keep small states between me and Austria, having a common border seems bad. I already have one between Venice (mine) and them. I'm quite proud of my colonization of South America since the north half was done through aggressive colonization and spywork. I conquered the Chimu(sp?) for the inca lands since for some reason they had about 4 provinces and also got about 4 more from my war with Naples (they still have inca lands).
The problem with Austria is intresting. If i'm going to declare war on a catholic nation i have to do it when they are ruled by a regent since they are defenders of the cath faith constantly. Also, if they don't have a regent i only declare war on catholic nations if Austria is busy fighting major wars somewhere else. Italy got conquered in 2 stages, the first of which being a major alliances chain reaction in Europe. The second war in Italy was when the game announced "Time of Troubles" in Naples and i have no idea what that means but the conditions were right to prepare for WAR. But now, the rest of Naples is out of reach, after the last war they allied with GB and Spain (and about 10 other small states). What also annoys me is that Austria hasn't been in any major wars in ages.

I think that even if the DoTF has a regent, they still get a call to war if a member of the faith is attacked. So, them having a regent isn't a guarantee that you are safe. It's really only if they're busy enough/war weary enough elsewhere that you'll be safe from attack. That's a rather potent defender of the faith!

"Time of Troubles" gives several negative modifiers, the most important of which is +10 revolt risk everywhere. It can happen when there's high serfdom and I believe high aristocracy as well.

I like your changes very much!
Perhaps you made some changes to Europe as well?

They're not really my changes, I only picked up content I liked from other mods and mixed it into this :p

All the changes are limited to graphics and those provinces which may be slightly off and border some different provinces :)

How is your EU3 Game going?

Not very well for the Papal States...

attachment.php

Poor Pope Benedict XIII finds himself the ruler of an entirely Sunni country. The annual Papal income is only 14.9 ducats per year, the Papal Army consists of 1000 men, and the lowest revolt risk in the entire realm of 5 provinces (including two already occupied by rebels) is 13.7%. The Pope's only Christian neighbors are Naples, whom they've excommunicated, and England, whom they despise.

And this whole situation is, largely, due to me. This is my Horde game, where I've continued on, conquering the rest of France as well as Aragon and northern Germany. Urbino, Siena, and the Roma have fallen in Italy, and Epirus in Greece. Two Finnish provinces have also been taken, though one Horde province did revolt to Finland in exchange. And Sweden is now completely occupied, with their submission only a matter of time; Naples' situation is not much better.

The one upside for the Pope is that the Papal States control the Curia; all the cardinals from no-longer-existing countries become controlled by the Papal State. The bad news is that that's the only way for the Pope to gain cardinals with only Sunni subjects, and that even their nemesis England, who has 0% Papal Influence, has an 11% chance of securing the next cardinal!

I was just casually browsing through this.... Got me interested. .. .I recall my last game, some weeks back, with Castile. Guess I will continue that one... I had to unite to form Spain I think !!

Screenie to be uploaded in 8-9 hours... depending on when i get to my room.

I feel the need to share this game. After seeing some game suggestions such as Benin > Germany, it occurred to me, why not go the other way? Loaded as Mecklenburg, went down to Benin. Waited fifty years, move capitol, culture shift, sell Mecklenburg (Both Lubeck and Brandenburg already had cores on it - ?!?). Easily conquered Mali and co, colonized the African coastline (and interior). Found out I was filthy rich. Yeah, my inflation was something like 30%, but I was capable of minting hundreds in one month, with next to no infrastructure at that. Went colonizing like mad. Got everything from Cuba to Argentina, with the help of some spies. Also the Incan coastline to prevent someone like France from getting a foothold on S. America. I learned that lesson in a Portugal game, where I managed to colonize everything, but didn't conquer the Inca until way later. Result? French coastline.

Africa could use some work, but I don't want to fight England right now.

Interesting tidbits about this game:

- Scotland Still Independent
- Lithuania was uncharacteristically successful very early, taking huge swaths of GH territory
- Bohemia crushed that nice little anomaly :(
- Russia formed early via Novgorod. Smolensk declared independence, Moscow was inherited by Sweden but revolted away I think.
- French Portugal
- Sicily did ridiculously good, conquering all of Naples early, and managing to inherit Lombardy, even though they lost a few provinces. Now controls much of the Middle East, including Jerusalem and Mecca. Few colonies in Africa, Canada.

@bonefang - Mod? Oh, the text? That was a component of a mod I don't actually use, but I liked the text, so I kept it. Name was.... "Aut Caesar Aut Nihil" if I remember correctly. Sounds right.

Your Spain game is starting well. I am going to assume you don't happen to have cores on your new territory? Make sure to try and unite Iberia pretty quick, as Portugal will colonize and forming Spain with Barcelona is just a good move overall.

Oh a bit of update, Portugal was slapped hard, cause I got a CB on them. They are now reduced to a 2 state country with Porto and Lisboa. I had everything under my control, yet, while i tried to annex them, the dailogue box said, the cost of annexing is 152 % . I was like WTH !!

Porto + Lisboa = Portugal Win
